  1. My point is there is greater risk in leaving for a school like Nebraska or Boston College. I don’t think anyone on this board would hate if Oats left for a blue blood. I think Nate is putting himself in a position where he can be selective bc he knows he will have options. Therefore he doesn’t have to bite at the first offer. Like Pitt. That’s all. So if you are him why leave for a middle of the road P5 school in which you will be fired in less than 4 years when you can build your own profile and hold out for better.
  2. I agree with you. Especially the 4 seed 5 seed stuff. But my fear is if Wofford rolls like they’ve been that they get seeded higher. It’s just a fear. A fear like those who think the committee will favor power conference teams on the bubble this year. Especially when the SoCon has 4 quad 1 teams. Ugh I just fear they will get seeded higher than us that’s all.
  3. I’m tearing them down bc I fear they will be seeded higher than us and we will get screwed. Which bothers me. I give credit to Furman. They are the only other team that’s good in that conference. But really ETSU and UNCG. And that conference gets a lot of love. Yet the Mac doesn’t. Again my view is a rant but I feel we will get screwed all bc of style points.
  4. How many Mac coaches recently went to middle of the road P5 jobs...two come to mind Jim Christian (who could be let go this year) and what’s his face at Akron John Groce. Both of them left Mac schools went elsewhere only to come back. Yes it can be a stepping stone but it could also setback a career. Whereas he could keep building his resume at Buffalo and be sought after by higher schools. Maybe the Pitt interview was a way to leverage a raise at UB. Whereas for Jeff Chapel who took the job...it was his stepping stone or way to get back into major conference coaching after his first flame out, and he’s willing to gamble on his famous last name to help him recruit.
  5. I give credit that Wofford has rolled its competition in conference play. I don’t give them credit for losing 4 games against ranked teams. I’m sorry you don’t get credit for losing. But what bothers me most is this notion that the SoCon is a good league. 4 out of 10 teams over .500. A very top heavy league that feasted off bad teams in it. Therefore road wins against ETSU became Q1 wins. Meanwhile ETSU has beaten no one. It’s misleading. I think the Mac is deeper and better top to bottom. The SoCon was a joke. As evident by a team going undefeated in it. This is a rant. I’ve ranted before about Wofford. If we win the conference tourney and Wofford wins theirs...who do you think will get seeded higher? I feel it will be them bc of style points. And that’s ridiculous!
  6. The article mentioned Nebraska and Boston College. It considered Oats a P5 2nd tier caliber coach. I agree he isn’t going to Nebraska. A traditional football school. BC is a waste in the tough ACC. That would be a super uphill battle. Right now I think we are safe bc the mentioned schools are at best lateral moves. But if we make a deep run later this month that could all change.
  7. Wofford is overrated imo. And I feel they will get a better seed than us. Which makes me hate them.
  8. Why did it have to be CJ v Battle in the semi...ugh hard choice
  9. This is gonna be awesomely insane! Can’t wait. They may need to shut down Alumni. Hope we click and get some positive momentum going and start trending up. After Friday’s game we get almost a week off. Good time to rest, recover and practice.
  10. Tell them to hook me up. I’ll pour the cool aid all day 😉
  11. I’ll just say this about the whole discussion of the frosh. 1) It’s fair to criticize them just as it’s fair to criticize Dontay for his performance last night. Or Jeremy for his prior shooting woes. But in criticizing them we have to also realize that they are freshmen who barely play 10 minutes a game. And much of their minutes distribution is based on if we have a lead and can use them to steal minutes. In crunch time you can bet you won’t see them on the court unless there’s foul trouble or injury like last night to Jordan. For reference go back and check the box scores for the WVU, San Fran, Cuse and Marquette games. They played but were not on the court when it was money time. 2) They are freshmen. And they play like freshman who barely see action so naturally when they get on the court they wanna make an impact. They are gonna make mistake. That’s expected. And I can’t stress this enough they are freshmen...if they play like this when they are seniors then all bets are off. The key for them is growth and progression. Especially from year 1 to year 2. What’s great now is that they aren’t relied upon to be a difference maker. We have 5 seniors and 7 total players before them on the depth chart for that. As the 8th and 9th guys of a rotation and as freshmen I’ll say they are doing ok. 3) Yes they were our highest rated recruits. Depending on which site they were 4 stars. So there was a lot of hype. Especially bc of YouTube videos. Which honestly are just cut ups that can make you and I look like MJ. But were we really expecting them to be Zion? That’s unfair to them. Plus they weren’t expected to contribute high number of minutes. In closing it’s fair to criticize them but let’s not give up on them. Way to early for that. Let’s see how they progress. And yes the roster competition will be tough next year but there will also be opportunities. I trust that Oats and the staff can bring out the best in them and utilize them in a way that allows them flourish.
  12. We clinch at least a 4 seed with a win tonight. Go Bulls!
  13. Let’s hope it comes on a clutch shot that’s sends us to the sweet 16!
  14. I just wanna say thank you to these 5 seniors. I’ll be cheering them on from NYC, so buffalo send em off right. Last home let’s continue the home winning streak and beat a wounded BG squad. Final tune up game. Go Bulls! Defend the home court. Harris got going hopefully this is a sign of what’s to come. We need to cut the turnovers down and play better interior defense. Against BG, who rebounds well, that will be key.
  15. I think Oats was trying different lineup combos out there. Especially when we went up by 12. That’s when you look to steal minutes to keep the main 7 fresh for crunch time. Trust me in a tournament game you won’t see Segu Williams Harris plus two others on the floor at the same time. Those 3 on the floor at the same time is prolly our worst defensive lineup. Segu got more playing time bc of the Jordan injury. Come tournament time the two freshman will play less. We saw that in the non conference. Their time is in the future. For now their role is to steal minutes
  16. Dang head injuries can be tricky. Hope he is ok. We have no true PG after him. Carruthers is reckless, Segu is a frosh and playing CJ at the point takes him away from scoring.
  17. MAC regular season champs! It was ugly but it’s a win. Harris...hope this is his awakening. I had the game on mute anyone know what happened to Jordan? Going forward we need to play better defense and cut to dribbling ourselves into the sideline and turning it over. Same ole story right. Come home boys a big party awaits.
  18. That’s the Harris we’ve been wanting and missing. Assassin style tonight.
  19. Dontay has been bad lately. Letting none calls and turnovers affect his defense. What happened with Jordan?
  20. We should lose this game with the poor defense we are playing and turnovers. Knuckle up gonna be tough last 5.
  21. The BG late season fall in full effect. Predictable.
  22. Based on the article committee members are assigned conferences to monitor all season. Right around now they should all gather and begin debating and making mock brackets.
  23. A new b-ball arena is gonna cost at least 100 million. I think a lot of us, myself included, have blinders on. Example...both basketball programs have had great success in recent years. So naturally we the fan base wanna dream big. We wanna move conferences and build new facilities. And yes while I think UB is a basketball school...football is still king. And football will always lead the way in the future. We won’t be able to change conferences unless football is up to par. And as it sits now...I’m sorry but our football program isn’t. Mainly bc UB stadium is a dump (mainly the track around the field and capacity). I know this is a b-ball thread but when it comes to college sports and money football leads the way and everything comes second. We all want resources pumped into the b-ball programs and they deserve it. But for all our bigger dreams (new facilities & conference re-alignment) we need greater success from the big time money maker...football. Now if we can get some big donor to make a multi-million dollar donation dedicated to the b-ball team that’s a game changer. As it was for the new football facility.
  24. Although I think it says when it comes to discussing teams in the conference that members represent, they have to abstain.
