It’s nuts to me how we can be a 2 seed but not a 3 lol. The MAC really bungled this up.

Yea probably. But do we think NIU is gonna be Ohio? Anything can happen. Ohio is reeling but are they reeling that badly?

If we can’t get the 3 then it would seem we are stuck in the 4/5. So does this make tonight’s game meaningless?

A couple things here: if you notice the last few games we had gotten off to slow starts and trailed in games. WMU comes to mind. Fatigue from a condensed could be a reason. After today the rest for prep and recovery will do wonders. Second thing is habit. We have a habit of going into stretches where these issues you stated occur for long periods of time. If we cut the duration of them down or find ways to weather them better, we can make noise. Final point: I’ve stated this before, if we see Toledo again we cannot foul them. Check the FT stats in two games against them. They are mind boggling.

Hopefully they are better next year.

Free throws. Plain and simple. Toledo in 2 games was 40 of 51. We were 16 of 21. Out scored by 24. Last night we were out scored by 11 at the line. So not only are we not defending against them in 2 games, they are getting and hitting an absurd amount more FTs than us. And in both games we shot well from the line which doesn’t always happen. Or else it would be uglier. So if we are fortunate to see them again, we have to defend better and defend without fouling. Sure Toledo is going to score but we have to find a way to slow them down and keep them off the line.

If they aren’t going to reschedule games (which for us they can easily do) then seeding should be determined by win percentage. It is mind blowing why the mac decided to make this confusing and unfair change. But whatever…I think we all deep inside knew we were destined for the 4/5 game/route.

Love the optimism. But this game erased all the vibes of February. But as you said…anything goes in Cleveland. Just have a have a well timed 3 game win streak.

The first matchup with them they got to the line a lot too. We have to ask why? This needs to be scouted bc we may face them again. Also as @MuchManysaid, we tried to match them. That’s poor coaching. Stick to what we do best. Try to impose our style of play. Be proactive. Film review and game prep has to be better if we see them again.

Sorry but Segu won’t ever make the nba. Not bc of lack of talent but he is too tiny. His shots often get blocked in the paint and he looks like he struggles to shoot 3s. Not an NBA player. Overseas I can see that.

Tonight wasn’t about the bench. Look around the MAC, no one has a bench. Not Ohio not us not Toledo. It’s about the starters and their effort and intensity. We came out with none. No defense, too many turnovers no attention to detail.

Which is why we needed the 3 seed. Ohio is super vulnerable. MAC finals looking like Kent vs Toledo. Two hottest teams.

To add some salt into this wound…Ohio losing to BG under 10.

Yep. And a game or shall I say ass kicking like this, will either provide fuel or will break us mentally. Will be interesting to see how we come out Friday. As of right now there’s only two games left. And both are against top teams

This game is over. Not being a negative poster. It just is. Toledo is just having one of those nights where they can’t miss. It is what it is. This was a complete clunker. Let it happen now. Hopefully the team takes it to heart and mind that they got their asses beat. I don’t wanna see this type of effort next week.

Also…once you’re in your senior year I think we can stop talking about recruiting stars. Coming into this year we all knew what this team was. We were just hoping it would all click.

Both equally bad. Poor shots on offense leading to easy transition for Toledo. Too many turnovers. And of course none existent defense.

I wonder if this has anything to do with his medical condition. Not a full on minutes restriction but something the staff monitors game to game. Especially if it’s a physical game or a running game.
