  1. How do we bring back the entire staff?
  2. Army’s athletic staff are not employees of the federal government. What would be the cost to UB for football then?
  3. we won't be able to add any veterans that anyone wants without NIL.
  4. they constructed the best team they could afford. We have zero NIL. How will they build the roster without going the HS route and hoping for the best.
  5. Might be the only approach with little to none NIL or “secretive/non public” NIL
  6. Too many sharks circling. We can either accept they will be employees or not. Not one person can tell us if title ix will matter if they’re employees. Title ix doesn’t matter when hiring happens.
  7. That’s why I don’t understand the urge to remove the track when we don’t know if we will have the sport. I can’t imagine any SUNY school having millions to cover the worker’s compensation cost.
  8. Not if they go towards the activity model which is being discussed. Preferred admissions would be gone, preferred class registration would be gone, academic tutors would be gone.
  9. It will be close to $4 million for football per year is what I was told when I asked experts and that makes sense with arena football team in Albany paying $1 million/year.
  10. Once the students become employees, the game is over anyways. No one will be able to afford ny workers compensation cost for football. UB will move athletics to d3/activity level anyways or we drop football.
  11. Football and basketball sucked, get rid of the wrestling coach.
  12. There's a concern that staff complacency and union protections make it difficult for Alnutt to address underperformance. Some staff members who predate DW and arrived during his tenure seem content to ride things out until retirement. This lack of urgency might explain why UB appears unprepared for the new NIL landscape. Alnutt's contract runs until 2026. If the current trajectory continues, UB's athletic department could fall so far behind that competing at the highest level might become a distant dream. It's true that not many ADs get the chance to hire two head coaches, two for football and two for basketball, and have both hires underperform. Hopefully, a third coaching search won't be necessary before 2026.
  13. What specifically has the AD done to be considered bad? lack of nil? bad football and mbb hires?
  14. I've been a member of this community for a while, even before some current board members. Unfortunately, I experienced some harassment that led me to participate less. It's frustrating that join year and post count seem to be the main factors in determining status. There are clearly some users with personal agendas, and it makes you wonder how many are actually employees or relatives of employees. how’s are NIL collective coming along?
  15. About 100 with 0 collectives. We’re 360, we’re battling to get to 260?
  16. Don’t disagree and we have $0 to offer to transfer portal players
  17. Dayton AD - Dayton AD Neil Sullivan this week sent a letter to season ticket holders to share news that recruits can now negotiate NIL deals with third parties before committing: “To date, this is my most important update and I urge you to take a moment to read this information and find a way to support the NIL program. … The University of Dayton may not use any institutional funds (from season tickets, donations, etc.) to compensate players for use of their name, image, and likeness. https://www.daytondailynews.com/sports/dayton-ad-alerts-flyer-faithful-about-big-change-in-nil-landscape/V42PFLZX2JE43H3W2H2NNKGOTI/
  18. Cant wait for him next year…he’ll be even better. Oh…😒
  19. Next year won’t be fun. UB is one of 100 schools without one. Need $1m or about $500k
  20. Graduation: Chapman Transfers: Prediction Boldin But we need about 7 that can play at a high level. Sabol is fine but we need at least $200-300k in NIL or there is no purpose to overturn the roster.
  21. Or we spin off the athletic department into a separate 501(3)c non-profit then we don't have to worry about SUNY. It's very common and going to be a lot more common soon. MBB portal opens March 18. we have no shot of raising enough money for the portal. Focus on next year’s portal and hs recruiting.
  22. I agree and disagree with you. On one hand, I agree with the performance center and locker room may not significantly impact 2024 players. As previously mentioned, there is a growing trend among students prioritizing opportunities for financial gain through Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) deals, even if that means "dressing in a phone booth," However, I also differ in opinion to some extent. NIL money is a new slice of the pie, we either ask for more money to grow the pie or the slices get smaller. I propose a fundamental shift in the structure by advocating for the separation of the athletic department into an independent entity. Notable institutions like UCF, UFlorida, and Army have successfully adopted this model. The potential advantages of this restructuring include the establishment of long-term coaching contracts and the reduction of bureaucratic hurdles. This model, already operational in certain institutions, is poised to become a more widespread and accepted practice in the near future. UB stadium may suck but did we approach the Bills/NYS about shared venue? I know the politics were in play with OP land build. Busing students to OP or downtown for a FCS opponent would be awful. I don't think we lost generations of fans because of the sightlines or track, we were not very good for a long time. MBB was unwatchable between 91-03 minus 3 seasons, football was awful during Craig Cirbus D1A era. Now, our football and basketball have been horrendous, last 18 months? which may very well turn off 25 and 26 grads.
