  1. Correct, the good vibes have been lost, but doesn't mean the season is. This squad can win, much as the women's team can win, that's why I'll be at the games enjoying my time there. You look at every misstep and call it out, but never ever call out any positives. This team has been far from perfect, but there's no reason to believe that they can't win next week.
  2. This game was tough, because it was so winnable. 3 clear flaws caused the loss, Turnovers in 1st half, gave up way too many O boards, too much help leaving guys open for 3s and to Kent's credit, they made them a good number of times. Laquill had a fabulous game. This was what we (at least me anyway) was hoping for all season. Just plays strong around the basket, even with a big dunk (which we rarely see from him in the games). Mballa seemed just a bit too soft around the hoop at times, especially the first half. When he's on his game, he's almost unstoppable in this league. Let's hope that comes out again next week. WIlliams and Segu gave what they generally do, solid games overall. Fagan, Jones were solid as well. They're not our alphas right now, they need to bring good minutes when they get in there. They did, for the most part, regardless of Fagan shooting an ill-timed forced shot or two. This wasn't Maceo's game today, not sure what it was, but he disappeared and then was relegated to the pine. I know that Brewton takes nothing but heat here, but he does play really well in some areas of his game. Unfortunately he gets a bit too hot and bombs away unnecessarily. He shut down Santiago when he was killing us. If he bought in to playing like Dontay/Davonte on the defensive end and just let the offense come to him instead of trying to be the guy on O, he really would be a solid positive. Skogman is going to be a star in the next few years, as the focus will likely shift more towards him when the seniors depart. I still don't understand the complete negativity here, where practically every single post is a negative. Yep, they lost yesterday, yep 1-5 against the top, yep squandered the #2 seed last night, but this team is still not nearly as bad as one would think if they only read some of the posts on this board. The other team is good also and only 50% of the teams win each game that's played, definitely can't and won't win them all. Let's just hope we can be on the positive side of that 50% next week, both the men and women. I for one enjoyed the game last night, outside of the final result and some of the avoidable mistakes. It's sports, not war. It's supposed to be enjoyable and I enjoy this group and hope to see at least 3 more games with them this season (and at least 4 of the women's team!).
  3. He did hold Santiago scoreless once he was put on him. Missed shots aside, he did complete that assignment effectively.
  4. Agreed wholeheartedly. To be "tied" both up and down is odd, especially for the "down" team to be then considered equal to the teams 1 full game ahead. Messy and unnecessarily so!
  5. It's embarrassing that a league would allow such guesswork to occur with the unbalanced schedules and one team missing a game. If the above scenario is the case, this game on Friday is somewhat meaningless now, at least in regards to seeding. I mean, I don't understand how a team (akron) could be a full game behind (ohio, kent in this scenario) and be considered "tied". UB being 1/2 game behind but "tied" is foolish also, but it was how it was laid out last week. The full game is dumb though as that clearly is not equal to at least ohio/kent.
  6. Ub is 13-5, akron is 13-6. I thought they were basing seeding on number of losses?
  7. Are we confirmed that UB gets the 3 seed with a win on Friday? (Assuming an ohio win, 2 seed with an Ohio loss). Ohio has the 3 way tiebreak (with a win on friday) 2-1 record, UB 2-1 record, kent 1-3 record, but ohio grabs the head to head to jump over UB. Sound about right?
  8. Well we've got to hope for a Friday win to grab that first Benji for the men's team. It's going to be rowdy in there.
  9. Agreed on a lot of this. Ub is capable of beating them, but it surely wasn't in the cards tonight. Crowd was definitely better. Just is crazy that ub goes like 7 weeks with no students in the middle of the season. The band = + ; DJ = -
  10. I believe they were referring to Toledo.
  11. I believe they announced that they did theirs last year.
  12. The time out was just to get the subs in. Whitesell is nothing but class also.
  13. If they win Friday, then it's a whole new ballgame next week. If not, the good vibes of Feb are definitely looking at the pink end of a #2 pencil. It's one game. While some on here will likely comment that this always happens against the top teams, it's still only one game. Ohio lost to a lesser team tonight. Let's hope Boals gets canned then. In the end, just win the next one. That has to be the mindset the rest of the way.
  14. Disappointing game. Started off with the nice 3 and then went downhill from there. UB didn't play poorly, toledo just played better today. Need to bounce back and win Friday and then there's a chance. If not, it's extremely tough sledding. Regroup, beat kent, face a lesser opponent in round 1, a reeling ohio team in round 2 and then it comes down to one game. Such an errie situation, so similar to last years 9 out of 10 wins, with the only loss to this toledo squad at home. Other than shooting %, stats were relatively equal tonight, they just hit em.
  15. I'd happily take that. Obviously would prefer 1, but winning both games is all UB can do on their own. One at a time, win senior night!
  16. The top 25 year, the team lost a ton on scoring as well in Cj, nick, dontay, harris and mccrae. It returned Jordan, Graves, 2 freshmen who played minimally but were highly touted in Segu, Williams, Brock, Fagan. Also had Antwain Johnson and Grant, both of whom became fodder for several on this board, especially the one. They had 0 recruits after the exodus of the head coach and several other staff members. This team returns Skogman, Jones, Hardnett, Perry, unprovens in Mading, Williamson, Blocker and a signee point guard that looks promising. The sky isn't falling completely. The team will likely take a step (or more) back, but so did from the top 25 team. This current group has won 20+ each year (with 1+ more wins this year), after massive losses 3 years ago. Wait and see what happens, and enjoy THIS team. They are a good one, a veteran one, and one deserving of a full house on Tuesday and fans in Cleveland.
  17. Unfortunately, they'll probably blow it, just like they did the other day vs Toledo.
  18. It all goes into the pot, although I believe there are bonuses sometimes towards groups on giving day. BrooklynBull is a better resource when it comes to that.
  19. First $100 locked in with today's win from the women's team. The men have 2 chances to get to 20 wins next week (even with 2 games cancelled or already would likely be there). Still time to jump aboard!
  20. I'll be satisfied plenty if just UB wins out! There's not a crazy difference between 1, 2, 3 seeds as you get a non top-5 in round one and then have to (most likely) beat two from the top-5 tier. If it happens, I'd take it though!
  21. Hopefully you're back for tomorrow, instead of me having a foot rest. Need your noise out there!
  22. Only 5 home games also. No superpower teams this year either. Should be a year for lots of wins, hopefully. Lots of roster turnover, but a true off season unlike last year. No excuses for < 8 wins this year.
  23. Who's ready for UB-Niu 2? Only two chances left to watch these guys at home again. 4 x 1000 point scorers on one squad is something different and special. Hopefully a decent crowd and another win to add to the streak. As evidenced by last night, UB is the better squad and just needs to keep the hot shooting down in order to come out on top. A rare home and home and 3rd game of the week. Can't wait to be there!
