  1. Long history of big coaching gigs for him. Not a shocking hire.
  2. I don't understand how it is a bigger buyout than Nate's, when Nate's contract was larger and the ink hadn't even dried on it. We definitely lost big time on that one.
  3. If so, what's the buyout? We certainly didn't get near enough for Oats' departure, considering the new contract only was signed for a week or two before he left.
  4. This is a very subpar MU team. We definitely are able to look good against them. When I said MU, I meant Miami, although they could be Mercyhurst from what I'm seeing.
  5. I can live without the Mballa 3s. Stick to the glass! Then walked back on D and left his teammates hung out to dry. Bad sequence. This team looks very good when they are moving the ball. Doesn't hurt when they actually make 3s also. Under rated game by Brock. Really staying in his lane, contesting shots, getting hands on boards, passes. Happy to see that from him.
  6. They look bigger and more athletic that Miami. Also I like their ball movement tonight. It looks much better than a few of the earlier games. Keep it up!
  7. As down as many of the posts are, if we shoot FTs better, we may have won. It's disheartening to see how frequently we have struggled from the line across many seasons. Turner certainly didn't have that problem tonight for BG. Considering the team was without Mballa, they had a shot to win in the final 4 minutes of the game and just didn't do it. It was a very odd game as a whole in my mind, with so few assists and a million FT taken by each team. I like that the team hit the glass hard (as they generally have over the past few years). It's going to be an up and down season with a lot of games looking similar to this one, where it'll be nip and tuck, with either team able to pull it out in the end. This is how the MAC games always were, until we got spoiled by the loaded team over a couple of seasons where we just figured that we would win every one. It isn't like that anymore, and we need to get used to that, unfortunately.
  8. I stand corrected, with Robinson out there. I look forward to seeing his 1st action.
  9. It is nice to see Summer playing this afternoon. Granted it's Canisius, but they look much better as a whole with her out there (who'd have thought?).
  10. Hopefully we can get the bus all the way there, as opposed to yesterday's debacle. Big game right off the bat.
  11. Big woop. 4 games played in a season. Other teams in the country have played 10. Pretty disheartening in my eyes unfortunately.
  12. Too much dribble, dribble, dribble, fire in the final stretch, in my opinion. It didn't work anyhow, as the team had many empty trips down the stretch. I'm still hoping that Summer comes back soon, as she surely would've made a difference. A couple of great time out inbounds play calls by Coach FLJ allowing for a catch and shoot 3/made by Christie and then a layup opportunity for Adeyaya.
  13. I mean, we all love Nate and his team got wrecked last night. I doubt that their people are crushing his recruits, after several of them haven't played up to the preconceived standards after two games. On paper, our recruits have been "good gets", so to criticize the staff for last year's class that was 100% new after losing the original class followed by this class and their accolades seems misguided. It's been an odd year for everyone, so going after the coach seems very premature.
  14. I don't understand the statement about playing walk-ons over players brought in. Bivens played 1 minute at the end of the half due to foul trouble. Who was he playing over? Chanse is hurt, Zachery is suspended (or whatever the terms is that is being used) and Brewton isn't playing this season (from what we've been told). Regardless of the first two games, this team needs to be ready for MAC play, as it's nearly the entire schedule this year (and starts this weekend already). Hopefully Mballa will be ready to go or else we'll definitely be in for a long season. Getting Chanse back (and as good as billed) wouldn't hurt either! We'll know more in the next few games, especially after playing BG.
  15. Well I don't believe that I was knocking the team or Army's team in my post, but regardless we looked just like last year's team minus our 3 graduates. That team lost in the play in round. While there is no play in round this year, I'm certain that expectations are higher. We need our 2 injured players back and we need to play better as a whole. If so, this team is plenty capable to be a challenging opponent in the MAC.
  16. I saw as high as 11. The line probably would've been different if Mballa was known to be out, but still a big difference from the "Army 9.5 favorites".
  17. Well, the first 2 games was essentially last year's roster minus Johnson, Grant and Jordan (and then even no Mballa for the last 10 min of game 1 and all of today's game). That's not a recipe for high level success off the start. We were a decent team last year with those guys, without them it's a struggle as shown by several stretches over these games. I believe that with Mballa and hopefully Chanse, we will be able to be comparable to last year's squad (with hopefully a better finish in the MAC playoffs). This team with Segu/Graves/Williams/Mballa/Bertram, with Chanse/Hardnett/Fagan/Gallion can compete with teams in the MAC. They will win some and lose some. It's not a 16-4 team, but a team that should be over .500 and able to win/lose at any time. A big problem that I see is that we really don't have any stud outside shooters. Whereas most of the guys are capable of making 3s, no one appears to be the CJ/Harris type of knockdown guy. In my opinion, this team is going to have to out-hustle their opponents and limit their turnovers greatly in order to win constantly this season. They are capable of doing that, but it must be a focus every game. Personally, I hate the 1-on-1 BS that happens far too often. While I don't want "Reggie motion", I'd like to see a couple of passes in order to get that better shot as opposed to just one pass and drive and throw up the ball. When the team had the nice run today, it was 3 consecutive "and-1's" that came from some nice movement/passing. Well, that's how I saw it anyhow. It's only 2 games and there were some positives to take away from them, which is a good thing. Let's hope Mballa isn't hurt too badly, otherwise it may be a long season. I definitely missed watching this team, regardless of today's outcome.
  18. No offensive set over the last several possessions, just 1 on 1.
  19. Always good to get the first win. Plenty of things to clean up for tomorrow. Free throws and TO's were an issue, along with some of the inside missed. Hardnett too many quick fouls like last year unfortunately. Rebounding was good for the most part, Williams definitely had a nice game. It's a bit concerning not seeing any "new" guys (Skogman, Chanse - yes I know he's hurt for now). Hopefully Mballa is good to go tomorrow and they can start off 2-0.
  20. He seemed like he was hobbling around a little bit at the time-outs. Maybe got dinged up during the game.
  21. The refs have taken over the first 4 minutes here. Back to MAC style of no flow. It doesn't help that we're not playing great in this segment either. Hopefully can regroup after the media TO.
