I like it. He may not be what we’re used to, but he’s got a vision. He wants to build the brand and that’s what has to happen. We don’t get donors or NIL money until we build a brand. And if he has a clear plan to get there, I’m all in behind him. When I graduate I suppose I’ll jump in line for season tickets and donating.

On the bright side Josh Allen is visiting as a speaker 🤷‍♂️. Never thought the student association would be more competent than the athletic department.

I retract my statement, but still think it weighs in administration’s mind that they’d rather invest money elsewhere.

Unfortunately it comes down to this. UB is a top academic and research institution. Administration wants to prioritize that and they always will. If we pour money into athletics we risk our academic reputation just to be good at sports, just look at the other big name schools. When someone looks at Alabama, they think football, when someone looks at UB, they should think academics. We ride this fine line of reputation vs party, and in the end I’d rather have the former. I’d love to boast a great sports team, and I hate seeing the incompetence we have, but it’s not the end of the world.

I’m in. At this point what do we have to lose. Community and student interest is low, team performance is consistently dull. Give a blue collar coach a 1 or 2 year contract and let loose. Might be the scrappiest basketball you see but that’s what this school is about. Give him the shot and let’s grind it out.

Our offer needs to be way bigger, a full tank of gas and a dozen eggs.

You think if people contacted Alnutt with their concerns, maybe a petition of sorts he might listen? Not sure if he doesn’t know how to run bball or doesn’t care, but if people layed out a clear plan for him to go off of that’s supported in mass then who knows.

Would it be the dumbest thing ever to hire a high school coach. Someone that took a bad school and made them good?

It appears a lot happened in the past week when I wasn’t looking. Did things really go so far south? What happened to the good candidates, are they no longer even in consideration?

Toledo womens really won their first game just to be down by 30 at half time 🤭

I was so sure of Auburn beating Houston in my bracket. They were doing so well and then all of a sudden they flipped off like a switch, don’t know if I’ve ever seen such a collapse outside of the UB program.

Toledo women are grabbing a win.

Definitely, we don’t want to screw our men’s team like our women’s team. Burke drew the short stick when it came to roster picks and it reflected that throughout the season, just seeing things come together in the end. We need a coach and roster before all the good players are gone, and they need time to gel.

Do we root for Kent? Don’t like a rival but always nice to see an upset like that, plus they deserve to be the MAC representative.

I bet it’ll lag for a bit after the decision. 40 before or after it’s announced?

I hope for our first year coach it’s a medium to tricky schedule, then second year go big. If we could manage to take down a ranked team, even if it takes 5 tries people will show.

Haven’t really kept track of recruiting, is our incoming women’s squad actually that good?

Next year should be interesting, full control of an entire D1 roster instead of selecting from D2. I’m excited to see what she can do, she’s so intense and I can see her just relishing the opportunity she has here.

They look good, but Im not sure they can hang with Toledo the whole way. Definitely progress.

Yeah I agree that alum attendance is dismal. It’s been a big issue that people come to the buffalo area for college and then leave for elsewhere. UB is trying to start campaigning for people to stay in buffalo, things like ads on busses and whatnot. I’m from Rochester myself and don’t really watch local news here while I’m in school, so genuine question here. Do local stations ever talk about UB sports? Back home the sports people always talked about Syracuse, but do they do that here? North campus is a little bit of a hike for some people in buffalo, I feel like some exciting ads and news sections would be the only way to motivate the community to come.

Oh we were so ticked off about them playing on. I would’ve wanted them to stop if it was going the other way.

Ugly game with a bad start. But hey, at least they showed some spirit late on. Can’t have that poor of a first half in Cleveland, but if they can sustain the fight they had in the second for a whole game, there’s a glimmer of hope.
