  1. Agreed Watson had solid game efficient 20pts 50%fg. If the freshman was able to stay out of foul trouble the game would have been different she is that impactful. The communication on defense was bad. Getting out hustled for 50/50 balls was worse. How the ball was being turned over has got to be driving coach nuts just careless not valuing the position. Nine games in this team leaders are clearly Weston, Lewis-Williams and Rana period. They have to set the tone from the tip to the buzzer. I’m still very positive about the program and the prospects of making some real noise in the conference tournament.
  2. When will Alnutt do his job and facilitate the establishment of a collective. Its abundantly clear the other universities ADs in the conference are "encouraging" donors, alumni and sponsors to pool resources to be competitive for H.S. and talent from the portal. I get you still have to coach players up but to be competitive against other Mid Majors, P6 schools and more importantly conference rivals we need the talent which having a solid NIL and collective infrastructure in place will help. The flip side is stay complacent watch as teams beat the breaks off our teams, complain about the talent gap and when players develop then transfer to schools that offer the academics and the compensation. https://www.si.com/fannation/name-image-likeness/news/nil-collectives-generate-mid-major-hoops-success-noah9 https://www.on3.com/nil/collectives/team-unfurl-285/ https://www.on3.com/nil/collectives/feed-the-bird-foundation-304/ https://www.on3.com/nil/collectives/the-ziggy-collective-305/ https://www.on3.com/nil/collectives/1804-sport-collective-210/ https://www.on3.com/nil/collectives/friends-of-rocky-111/
  3. Home is where the wins are for this team and hoping the streak continues. Looking to see more of an effort to score from both Rana and Ogden whether its from set plays, transition or read and react sets. On the defensive side better communication, Watson can not get caught on switch with a post that action killed us the last 4-5min of the Drexel game. The team has been progressing in a positive direction during non-conference. There is less indecisiveness in the half court set and the freshman are playing more free. Should be another W headed towards conference play.
  4. I mean wrong sport right how did we get here 🤡
  5. Tough finish needed either Rana or Ogden to produce in this one. Also the freshman Alexis did not convert her FTs. They did not communicate well defending switch on the post entry. Watson kept getting switched on the post in the paint. On the positive side the other freshman Lewis-Williams had another good game. I have confidence Coach Burke and the team will figure out how to win on the road.
  6. This is definitely a favorable matchup compared to Stony Brook Drexel does not have multiple athletic players 6'2+. Our guards should be able to get paint points and draw fouls as that has been a clear emphasis so far this season by Burke. Drexel seems to be perimeter focused as a team having only 55FT attempts in 6 games. If the team plays solid defense with out early fouls and rebounding then I'm expecting a win by +15.
  7. Net Rankings came out and the sting of this loss is a bit less Stony Brook has a #59 Ranking. The fact we competed with them to half time says a lot considered we are ranked #206. I think we have a more even match up to Drexel but we will see this Saturday
  8. This was tough matchup for the Bulls. The two forwards for stony brook Pitman 6’2 JR and Clark 6’2 SR were too big, strong and athletic for any of our forwards. They dominated the paint offensively and defensively combined 19rbs and 5blks. Our guards had to over help and their bigs did a great job of passing out forcing our guards to scramble. From the second quarter on the stony brook guards knocked down shots. I think we settled for 3s instead of taking mid range shots. Watson carried the team in the first quarter but had to sit the majority of the second with 2 fouls. At that point no one took over scoring only 7pts in the quarter. I was hoping for either guard Rana or freshman Lewis-Williams to get going they were the only two that could create off the bounce. Coach Burke did not seem to have any sets for when Watson was on the bench or Stony Brook just played great D. Here’s the good news our 3 freshmen Davis,Lopez and Lewis-Williams played significant meaningful minutes while contributing and this is only game 7.
  9. The size of stony brook has closed the lane. Would like to see mid range shots taken. Long rebounds on missed 3s triggered so many baskets for them
  10. My apologies for the bad information. I chose the $15 one month Flo subscription since next week they play Drexel another CAA team on the road.
  11. Well I can understand the voters with Vermont they played North Carolina who was #18 to 3pt loss. Its that our schedule is significantly weaker comparably. Which I get, new roster no real carry over. Why through your team in the grinder when they are not prepared? Next season I would expect to see P5 and P6 teams on the scheduled. But in the here and now this team is getting better and winning along the way. Looking forward to seeing them make some noise in conference play.
  12. This will be a great challenge for this team Stony Brook is ranked 20th in the Woman's Mid Major Poll. This is the only the second road game, they lost a close one to ODU. Looking for the team to have a more fluid half court sets been too stagnate at times. No real complaints on how they have been playing defense just keep the same pressure for four quarters. Side note in that same poll MAC is well represented by Ball, Toledo, Kent and Bowling Green going to be a competitive conference schedule.
  13. First game after Thanksgiving UB has way more depth and talent. Looking to see if Coach Burke has the team ready to execute and dominate the entire game. This is the type of game were the bench players especially the freshmen should have a opportunity to put their talents on display. Lopez has looked good off the bench handling PG role, sound defender gets team in sets but her shoot has not been dropping this game could get her on track. Neither Chryssi Gouzelou 6'G/F or Ella Take 6'G/F has seen the court yet both have size which will help during conference play.
  14. I mean I guess that’s one way to think about the use of the GI Bill and those that choose to go that route. But I do agree with you there are creative opportunities universities could use NILs but will Tripathi/Alnutt be the ones to implement them? Is there a means to apply pressure to encourage them to consider it?
  15. Ah ok thought we were talking sports… but since you went there you know what never mind. I stand firm that if the president and AD are serious about winning conference titles in all sports then establishing collectives, corporate sponsors and NIL partnerships for the athletes is the only way. The other MAC schools are ahead on this. If Alnutt is not creative or innovative enough then bring in a consultant that can help or replace him.
  16. Has the AD come out with a plan for establishing collectives yet? If the goal is to dominate the conference then folks have to get out there feelings and except this is reality. The other schools in the conference seem to get it. On principle kids that produce in whatever sport should be compensated coaches and staff had that ability for external sponsorships for decades capitalism at its best. https://www.on3.com/nil/news/toledo-nil-collective-friends-of-rocky-becomes-first-mac-collective/ https://ballstatesports.com/news/2022/4/22/general-ball-state-enhances-nil-opportunities-in-partnership-with-opendorse.aspx https://miamiredhawks.com/news/2023/9/25/general-miami-university-partners-with-podium-x.aspx https://1804sportcollective.com/
  17. He is spot on your competing for talent and NIL is another means of separating programs. Some don’t like it but it is what is.
  18. I can deal with poor offensive performances they are all working in a new system. It’s the apparent lack of defense that gets me that’s effort and communication at its core pride. Iona at this moment is shooting 68%!!! Hope there is another comeback in them to make this respectable at the end.
  19. Just read freshman Alexis Davis was originally a Bonnie commit reopening her recruitment after they let go of the coach. Hope she show out with another double double
  20. Was a one score game till the last 58sec. Odd the last game was broadcasted over X and Youtube but not this one would have been nice to see how they came together and almost won.
  21. The woman's team looks to keep progressing against a St. Bonaventure that lost to Niagara by 24 two weeks ago. My hope is Coach Burke and staff has worked on half court execution since the abysmal first half offensive performance against Stonehill. At times it just seems like a lack of motion on the weak side or in general making it easy to be defended. I would like to see Watson/Lewis-Williams play off each other more as they can create off the bounce allowing Ogden/Rana a chance to shoot less contested 3s. The freshmen have to improve FT shooting I'm sure as they get more reps it will improve but in a close game can be a labiality. Main things I'm looking from UB is continued sound team defensive pressure and rebounding . The Bonnies shoot at a low 35% from the field and worse 27% from 3 but avg 20FTs per game so play the drive and rebound. This should be the type game where we can see more of the bench players.
  22. Is it wrong to feel bad about a 20pt win? The inability to finish at the rim, horrific FT% and lack of half court execution has to be addressed. The team needs another player to trigger the offense other than Watson to at least give the illusion of diversity to opposing teams. The defense was good all around so that’s a big plus but if this team wants to beat St. Bonaventure changes in execution need to be made.
  23. As good as the play was against Niagara this first half is the opposite. The inability to finish at the rim is a problem against this caliber of team. I’m sure Coach B is going to have words about the half court execution or at least I hope so. To many fouls and unforced TOs. Expect to see significant improvement next half, Go Bulls!!
