  1. I was just looking at the standings. I think it’s a lock that we get to Cleveland. Barring losing out. Us getting to Cleveland is mostly thanks to the bottom 4 of the conference being terrible. I can see us finishing 3-1 down the stretch. Question is what seed. Realistically I don’t see us getting higher than a 6. Ohio is 2 games ahead of us with the head to head. And we need them to beat NIU tomorrow. Top 4 teams also play each other tomorrow. Funny thing is, I feel like there’s a greater chance of us pulling a first round upset than us winning the conference tournament.
  2. If I’m not mistaken, schools don’t have anything to do with a player and his/her ability to land NIL deals. Schools aren’t paying kids. It’s the boosters. And unfortunately UB doesn’t have boosters that will pay athletes or help them secure NIL deals like that. So when you say we need 80k for a guard, that money comes from outside sources not the school. Obviously in the past and still today there was always shady stuff. Under the table deals. NIL has brought all that to the surface. Just look at Hurricanes basketball. They have an outside source funding NIL deals with players. No school involvement.
  3. All MAC schools are what they are…feeder schools for coaches. There’s no shame in that. You just hope that while you have a good coach you have success before they leave. We are a good example. For two coaching cycles we enjoyed our best success ever and produced two coaches who have gone on to greener pastures. Kent St dominated the conference through multiple coaching cycles. But all the coaches before Senderoff left too. The goal is to find our Schmidt or Cluess but for the most part, historically, coaches have come to the mac to then move on. Some even come back after they fail elsewhere lol. I understand we couldn’t expect to catch lightning in a bottle for 3 straight coaches, but hindsight, our misstep may have been hiring an older head coach who viewed the job as a destination rather than a younger coach who had their eyes on bigger. Ohio, with Boals, will be a great example of this.
  4. Our best hope is that he retires. And frees everyone from this burden.
  5. @Tee4threegenerally I’d agree with you. Anything can happen in March. And yes path is more important. However our best path involves Ball St…facing everyone else in the first round would be deadly. Furthermore, all of this aside…has this team. Has this coach, shown any of us that they can beat the top 3 teams in the conference? I’m sorry for being a downer but I have no confidence in this years team. They just haven’t shown it. At a certain point, we are who we are.
  6. Oh no doubt. That ain’t even a comparison. We should be leaps and bounds ahead of every team except Kent, Akron, Ohio and Toledo. Unfortunately we’ve regressed this season to the back of the middle of the pack. And those mentioned teams, we should always be on par with. At the least
  7. Hahaha all moot now, EMU isn’t even competitive. If we aren’t in Cleveland then Whitesell should be fired. The bottom 4 of this conference are absolute trash. And CMU is barely any better.
  8. Just looked at the schedule. They probably don’t have to win out. The bottom of the conference is that bad. They’ve beaten Central already and have BG on the schedule. They need help but don’t necessarily need to win out. Only bc CMU, who is 8th, might only win 1 game the rest of the way. The bottom of the conference stinks.
  9. I voted for Ohio bc they give me the worst nightmares. Since our collapse against them in 05. Hated hearing the O-H-I-O chant. I agree with all who have said that we don’t have a natural rival. And that we are looked at as an outsider in the conference. Which makes winning the conference all that much sweeter. Fun poll.
  10. This year? Since Whitesell took over! He is too much of a player’s coach. Too much. Allows them to have too much freedom. And seemingly, from afar, is afraid to be more authoritative. He is the perfect assistant. A good cop to someone else’s bad cop. Sometimes a gentleman isn’t a great leader.
  11. I’m honestly stunned. I don’t wanna be one of those posters who is always negative but that was a really bad half of basketball. In every aspect. We might as well have not shown up. Hope someone lights a fire under their ass in the locker room and they show some fight.
  12. Worst half of the season. I’m quite stunned at the ineptitude.
  13. No half court offensive sets being run. Where’s the coaching? Or is the call always pass the ball around the perimeter until the shot clock gets to 10 then have a ball handler go 1 vs 5
  14. I’m all for entertainment. I’m just worried that we as fans and the administration are becoming complacent. And just settling for that. Settling for a middle of the pack team that could win the conference tournament if things go our way.
  15. I’m not trying to pick an argument with anyone. I’m venting…but are we watching UB basketball to be entertained? Or to cheer on the team as they win? Bc isn’t winning entertaining? Losing to me isn’t entertaining. For example, the Super Bowl tomorrow, I don’t have a dog in the fight therefore I want to be entertained. But if I were a fan I’d want to win. Whether that’s pretty or ugly I’d want to win. Winning is entertaining regardless of how. I guess this is what most feel when people say “Reggie ball” is back. We are settling for being entertained. That’s complacent to me. “Oh we played hard.” We have fallen to the middle of the MAC pack. But hey, it’s entertaining.
  16. Disappointing 2nd half. No sugarcoating here. Kent was there for the taking yet again. We failed to hit outside shots in the 2nd half. Kent once again established their style of basketball. We were out rebounded and the turnovers, my god the turnovers. We know one speed, and that’s all gas no breaks. Make us grind possessions and we end up with one player going 1 on the entire opposing team. For the 1st 24 minutes we played well. Responded to adversity. However Kent wore us down. Some might look at this as yet another moral victory, but we’ve proven that we still can’t win a big game. Don’t look up now but Ohio is beating Akron. Those are our next two games.
  17. A must win for the long term outlook and hope of this team come March. A win and it perhaps proves this team is rounding into shape at the right time. A loss and the same narratives continue. Statement game. Enough said. Go out and win at all cost. Go Bulls!
  18. How can there be turnovers when no defense was played lol. It was a pure track meet…and we ran faster.
  19. Big game on Friday. Chance to make a statement. After the turnout tonight, I’m expecting a raucous crowd. Expect typical Kent state bully ball.
  20. Defense didn’t matter tonight. We could score at will
