  1. Serious answer: since it seems like mediocrity might be acceptable, just making it to Cleveland means he will be safe. Showing improvement with a younger squad while missing Cleveland might mean he gets another year. A 5 win disaster season might make the seat hot. I guess my point is…I can see the AD being one year too late rather than a year too soon in firing him.
  2. One time recruit hitting the portal. He’s def looking to transfer up.
  3. I believe anyone using a COVID year counts now as a person on the roster. As far as the portal goes…it’s all new and exciting. Whereas in years past, transfer use to have a stigma. Oh you are a transfer, you are not a team player. Players currently are over estimating their value and getting lots of ppl talking in their ears and coaches are manipulating roster balance. It’s all an experiment that is gonna take a few years to get organized. But it is modern day free agency in college sports.
  4. I think it’s easy for Geno to say this considering he has a monopoly on the sport and gets the best recruits out of high school. But if you’re against the portal you’re essentially against player rights. Which could doom a coach. Which is why guys like Roy Williams retired. This thought is independent of my own views on the portal
  5. Def need some wings who can shoot to space the floor. And another big would be nice.
  6. Do you get that if you played Juco tho? I thought it was only for current players.
  7. I’ll just counter the Kansas point by pointing to Carolina. Who have been crushing it from 3 in the tournament. Led by Love, Davis and Manek. Also Kansas made like 15 3s against Nova. As for Jordan, he had other to make 3s…CJ, Harris and Perk. Bringing this all to the Whitesell era, we’ve struggled to find shooters. Allowing defenses to pack in the paint. And we’ve been easily guarded due to our dependence on iso ball. Being able to shoot matters. I’m not knocking the kid. And I don’t think he is a concern. And to your point about composition…Whitesell now needs to find wing players who can space the floor. Allowing Powell to do what he does best. Allowing our bigs to eat inside.
  8. Improvement. Hopefully that trend continues. We can’t kid ourselves here, in todays basketball, you need to be able to hit the 3. But that aside, on paper he seems to be a solid player. Can never have enough guards. And guards win in March.
  9. Perfect for the Whitesell Iso ball offensive philosophy. Which is fine but we now need wings who can shoot. To help space the floor.
  10. Looking at his stats, he seems to be an aggressive down hill offensive player. Did a lot of his scoring from 2pt land and FT. Only shot 27% from 3. Like his size. 2 years left to play. Will be interesting to see how this shakes up the backcourt. What is Blocker thinking right about now? Hopefully he doesn’t feel threatened and decides to portal. Looking at our guard situation we have Jones/Cesar at PG and Powell/Blocker at SG. We continue to need a couple wing (3s) players. And another 4/5 type player in the event Skogs is gone.
  11. Announcing at 5pm via social media.
  12. Which to my previous point is the perfect place to plant seeds. Inquire about future potential coaches. In a hypothetical off the record manner. Meet agents and assistant coaches. And gauge whether that assistant might one day want to be a head man or woman. Hmm…let’s call it “legal tampering”.
  13. Let’s just hope that as the women’s season ended last night that this week we start seeing progress. Maybe some interviews. Some life.
  14. I appreciate your black and white view, I really do. But come on we live in the real world that is gray. It could be something as simple as a joke the night she was inducted into their HOF. A whisper, “You would look great on the sidelines there.” A wink wink nod nod type of banter. A back room convo between agents. Perfect example is Holloway, dude was known to become the next Seton Hall coach two seconds after the Hall lost. During their entire run the world knew he was gone. These convos happen. College athletics is a dirty corrupt business. Some would even say, if you ain’t cheating, you ain’t trying and if you ain’t trying, you ain’t winning.
  15. Yea I got flack a week ago when I said Alnutt wasn’t moving quick enough.
  16. Whitesell was most likely on the recruiting trail. He was photographed in Canada doing work recently. I wonder if a good scouting circuit can get Williams some consideration for a later second round pick. Def see G League coming his way at the very least.
  17. According to her own IG post, Georgia Woolley committed to Cuse.
  18. Sounds like we should hire that assistant who led them to the NIT title.
  19. A perfect example of the tampering. The AAU coach is doing the leg work and reporting back to the player as the season unfolds. Schools can’t talk to players who haven’t entered the portal, but they low key talk to AAU coaches, wink wink nod nod, kinda convo. And as the espn article said, if you ain’t having these convos, you’re getting left behind.
  20. The espn article answers and details all these questions. Including tampering, the one time transfer exception. How players who enter the portal can lose their existing scholarshi but usually don’t enter the portal without a plan.
  21. https://www.espn.com/college-football/insider/story/_/id/33630572/how-college-football-transfer-portal-turned-nfl-style-free-agency-another-level For anyone with ESPN+. Great portal article. Mostly about football but talks about all the intricacies of the portal
