Seems like according to their social media post, both Segu and Jeenathan are moving on. Not unexpected. Wish them well. Hope to hear about them playing pro ball wherever that may be.

Welp valiant effort but came up short. Tennessee was too physical down low and we didn’t make enough shots to stay close in the second half. Great season anytime you make the big dance and have a game on network tv. Now we wait and see what happens with coach.

It would be nice if miracle banked 3s don’t fall against us too.

Tennessee isn’t gonna beat us from the outside. They are all in the paint and foul line. We must stay off the foul line in the 2nd half. And we must convert the open looks we’ve gotten around the paint. Overall great half . Right there in this game. Just gotta make a few more shots.

If we make shots we will win. Yea Tennessee is gonna get second chance points but we can’t compound that with cheap fouls and missed shots around the rim. Better close to the quarter. Great response by the team after the 8-0 Tennessee start. Once we settle down it is clear we should be able to get our looks on offense.

I look at the portal like free agency. Use it to fill holes. Not build a roster. To his credit that’s what Whitesell has done. But the players he’s brought in have been misses.

That’s why the portal is dangerous. You aren’t bringing guys in via the portal to sit them. Then if you bring in a player does one of our own portal out. Very delicate balance. We have to develop our younger guys. Blocker, Mading and Williamson. I say embrace the rebuild and let them play. We’ll be better off in the long run.

If this is the case then I’d take him. Scouting report out of high school was tough defender. We need that.

Ok and what’s the justification for firing him? If I’m reading this correctly, 600k followed by 500k and so on until his contract is up is still a big chunk of change for a cheap school like UB. Then you’d pay him that plus paying a new coach’s salary. Ain’t happening. Point I’m making is based in reality, UB isn’t gonna fire a coach off a “winning” season. Doesn’t really show to a potential coach program stability. Sorry to say, but things have to get uglier before he’s fired. A sub .500 record and no Cleveland appearance. Which potentially could be next season.

UB isn’t going to pay two men’s coaches. We barely pay the one we have. Plus the Alnutt is gonna have to commit money to FLJ this off-season if we have any hope of retaining her. Whitesell is under contract for 3 more seasons. UB won’t fire him bc we are trending down. Things have to bottom out more than this. Just the reality.

Done in the first round. This year’s team just wasn’t the same as a year ago. They lost their toughness and defense when Petty and Jones left for the nba. And their offense was pretty bad at shooting 3s. Which is pretty much their offense if they aren’t getting run outs. Nate failed to change the dna of this team this season.

Neither team is dancing so, how good were they really playing? We also were undefeated in the month of February. Obviously turned out to be fools gold. The minute Niagara makes a tourney, Paulus is gone.

Slight digression but we need to be more assertive recruiting our own state. I know downstate will be hard but we gotta keep local Buffalo and Rochester talent. I really get irked seeing kids from Rochester perform well at other MAC schools. Time to establish local pipelines. Williams and Blocker are great examples.
