  1. Agree. Oats lost Jones, Reese, Petty Jr. and Bruner and the first three were there main go to players. In spite of all the 4/5 star players it is still hard to match what they had last year especially with their 3 point shooting being nowhere what it was last year and their defense not being where it was last year. They don’t have a player like we had in Caruthers who when he came in the game for us the entire team defensive intensity picked up. It might be early for Oats but if he has a couple more years of not being in the top echelon in the SEC he might be looking for another job. Last year’s success raised the bar for future success and the added pressure of winning.
  2. Do agree, Looks like Jones is becoming more comfortable and confident. But I still don’t like his ball handling especially when he has defensive pressure. Good to see UB shooting 80% from the line at 13-16 and they showed more energy on the rebounding end. Hope we can put a winning streak together and get a better seeding for Cleveland.Still would like Skogman to get more in the offensive flow like he was when Mballa and Fagan were out. Hope they can have some offensive consistency that lasts more than one game. Go Bulls!!!
  3. Did Hardnett get hurt again? He only played 11 minutes. Are any of the players going to be on their social networks showing any of their bonehead turnovers?? Overall a good win against a bad CMU team and hope kthey can show some energy and intensity in front of their home crowd. Go Bulls!!!
  4. Agree. He is the biggest disappointment. His effort and intensity he showed last year gave us the opinion he was only going to improve in all areas of his game. What a waste of talent and I would guess his NBA career expectations are over but I guess he can play overseas and make a nice living. Go Bulls!!!
  5. That is an under statement. The women continue to play with effort and intensity and have some very good defensive games playing both a zone and man to man defense. If only the men could take a cue from the women. Go Bulls!!
  6. Good point. Eight/nine games in we still had a decent bench with Young, McEvans, Adeyeye, Christie and Coach Jack rotating both Keita and Jordan. With Young leaving the team and the injury to McEvans and Christie looking lost on the court and then not showing any improvement from Keita and Jordan Coach Jack was almost forced to play Woolley and as she became more comfortable and confident really could be the turning point for us. It is hard to fathom where we would be if Woolley turned out to be just a good role player with very little experience. In the early games Woolley was just primarily a three point shooter but her game has become an all around game with drives to the basket and pull up jumpers together with her passing ability and also because of her size is a decent rebounder. It is a joy to watch basketball and see players give their all and become very good and even to become great players. Go Bulls!!!
  7. Do agree. Any road win is a good win even though CMU is not even close to the teams they have had the last four plus years. Great to see nice ball shot distribution from other players other than Fair and Woolley. Hemphill and Camp with 13 shots each and Wilson with 10 shots means that teams will not be able to press and double team Fair and Woolley. Interesting stat that since Wilson has started playing some meaningful minutes we have out rebounded teams in the last two of three games and only lost the rebounding battle by four in the other game. Still a concern with a very thin bench and for the most part usually three to four of our starters have to play the entire 40 minutes. The players seem to realize not to get into foul trouble and I would think this would be an emphasis of the coaching staff. Do agree that Fair is still struggling with her outside shots but can still continue to drive to the basket with her speed and quickness. Woolley continues to be a revalation and shows and plays more like a veteran than a first year player. Hope fans can show up on Monday to show their support to this very exciting team. Go Bulls!!
  8. All the days off and I wonder what this coaching staff is working on?? More one on one ball with no ball movement?? Do agree a very frustrating season on so many fronts with our team not to mention Bona who with the entire starting five back and the forecasts for being the top team in conference under performing at every level. Also Alabama taking a nose dive in conference. Coaches can have the better players on paper but if they can’t get them to perform they are no better than the lower teams in any conference. Hope both our UB teams can get on runs the rest of the year. Go Bulls!!!
  9. Very eerily quiet especially with only Skogman being the only somewhat bright spot with Jack, Brewton very disappointing and no freshman helping. The women are the bright spot with promising freshmen Woolley and Wilson who is getting some playing time contributing now with the season ending injuries to McEvans and Adeyeye causing a very thin bench. Fair, Woolley and Hemphill are worth coming to see especially with home games on Monday and Wednesday. Are any students other than a handful going to show up?? Our family will be there to support the team!! Go Bulls!!!
  10. Very good road win last night. Woolley and Fair continue to be the main cogs in all our games. Woolley with 30 points and a good shooting percentage and Fair continuing to preserve thru very tough shooting games lately. Hemphill in foul trouble and only taking 5 shots and the revaluation of the freshman Wilson giving us some strong rebounding with 14 rebounds has really helped with the loss of McEvans and Adeyeye. On to CMU and hope to neutralize their two bigs down low and their point guard Davis and we should come out with the win. This is the team more fans should be coming out to see and if only this administration will promote this team and earn their paychecks. Go Bulls!!!!
  11. Do agree that are all the variables during a season. But when you do not have any bench that they spell your starters for at least a few quality minutes it will be tough to win games when it comes to critical minutes late in games. Again when you have a point guard that will not or can’t generate some offense that enables a defense to collapse even more on Fair, Woolley and Hemphill. Have confidence in this coaching staff to come up with some answers. They did it the last game by inserting Wilson and because she gave positive minutes and play they continued to play her. Go Bulls!!!
  12. I also am concerned about Fair who a few games ago hurt her shoulder/neck on the first minute of a game and then it looked like she was favoring one of her legs and ever since those games her 3 point shooting and even short jump shots seem to be off and she is even missing multiple layups and Woolley has been a total revaluation. The first few games of course both McEvans and Adeyeye were not injured and she was getting some playing time but not a lot of minutes. She has now shown she can drive to the basket with both short jumpers and layups. But with all the minutes now she seems fatigued into the 3rd and 4th quarters but she continues to have that warrior mentality along with Fair and Hemphill. There does not appear to be any quit in this team and can only hope more fans and especially students come out to support this team. On the student support?? What is wrong with the true blue support and for that matter this administration in promoting this team?? Go Bulls!!!
  13. A very good gutcheck game for UB. After their three straight losses something had to be done roster wise to change their mindset. Again Christie had a very uneven game with turnovers and both Keita and Jordan gave little help. Here come Wilson a highly touted freshman from Rochester who was ranked # 18 by ESPN in her high school career. With her big body and strength down low we were finally able to win the rebounding battle which in years past was always a big stable of UB’s success. Stilll a concern about the minutes our starters have to play and if any of them get into foul trouble. Coach Jack had to try and make some changes but you never know how players that have not played all year are going to perform. Two road games coming up this week will tell how our standing in the MAC will look. Still a concern about Camp not being able to generate any offense and Hemphill not being in the offense flow of the game. Go Bulls!!!!
  14. Totally agree. Just a crazy year that started with high expectations for both our men and women and even Bona. Then with covid and the injury bug and players not playing up to our expectations just one crazy year so far. Can’t let frustration get the best of us and will try to enjoy the joy of watching good athletes perform and keep all in perspective. Let the frustration get to me with the women losing to Ball State and no fouls called on the last play and trying to talk to the Ball State coaches and they just smiled sarcastically. More important to stay healthy and enjoy each day as it comes. Go Bulls!!!
  15. Thanks for the info. I guess there are potential good players right in our backyard. Go Bulls!!
  16. With Syracuse having a tough year only like 8-9 and 1-6 in conference unless there is a big turnaround they will be looking for their next coach!!!!! Not sure what the salaries are in Syracuse conference????
  17. Good information!! Sort of forgot about her. Great player at City Honors at 6’3’ and scored over 2,000 points. She is averaging about 8 minutes a game and 2 points per game. Not sure of her status but Temple has about 9 freshmen on the team and about 5 who will be graduating. Boy, she would of been another local kid who could of been in the Summer Hemphill mold. Too bad Summer could not of got local kids to stay local. It does seem like we have more local kids over the last few years who have the potential to play D-1 ball. If, If, If Jack would stay it could be interesting to see who she could recruit?? Go Bulls!!!
  18. We are in big trouble with the roster being depleted with injuries and players leaving. Wishful thinking on the roster next year and if Jack will still be here. How about the local standout DeBerry on the UCONN team?? With some of their players back from injury I doubt whether she will get any playing time at all. What a waste of a great talented player who could of gotten major minutes here at UB of for that matter any mid-major team. Who sold her the goods on UCONN and what she was told about playing time I guess we will never know. Transfer portal or bust!! Go Bulls!!!
  19. The sky is falling yet! It could depend on how our four youngsters in Jones, Mading, Blocker and Williamson along with any other recruits and of course if we can sign any JUCOS how the team could look.Let’s face it this year is turning into an adventure for both our men and women and not to mention Bona with all their starters returning don’t look good at all. Go Bulls!!!
  20. Another rough game against a Ball State team with good size down low and our short bench with no help from any reserves. Fair still looks like she is in the same funk she has been in the last few games. With the loss of both McEvans and Adeyeye we have lost our rebounding strength and we will continue to lose the rebounding battle especially in critical junctures of a game. Some of our weaknesses are shown up big time now. Camp has shown no ability to shoot or even want to shoot which now puts more pressure on Fair, Woolley and Hemphill. Christie is very weak in the low post and is weak defensively. The only players off the bench are Keita and Jordan and with so few minutes all season show no ability to get into any flow on both ends of the floor. This coaching staff of course had no control over injuries and covid and they have failed to get any other player ready to play in games. Ball State di for the most part control the game and won the rebounding battle and the 3 point line battle. Again we were bad from the 3 point line and Hemphill has to be more involved in the offense. The Ball State coach’s strategy seemed to pay off as he was on the officials thru the entire game and resulted in may missed calls especially in the 4th quarter. The remaining games look like a struggle in all phases of the game and will see how both the coaches and players respond to one real adversity. Go Bulls!!!
  21. I think the game is still on tonight. Ball State won their last game but their game recap said some players were missing because of covid/health protocol. There top scorer was one of the missing players. Hope for a turnaround game from Fair tonight as the last two games she struggled mightily. Have not heard anything more about the Adeyeye injury?? Go Bulls!!!
  22. It would create a lot more enthusiasm and excitement in the fan base for sure but unless a coach has the players the success will be hard. Do agree with his name he might be able to coax more good players here. It will always be an interesting discussion that with the same group of players that coaches like Hurley would be able to get them to play a better brand of basketball. Go Bulls!!!
  23. I like it. Good positive vibes. Go Bulls!!!
  24. Also looking at their roster the top four leading scorers are juniors and sophomores and they have no seniors on the team!! Hope for a competitive game tonight. Go Bulls!!
  25. When we have four of our top seven players shooting in the 60% range in free throws and two of our top seven in the 20% range in 3 point shots every game could become an adventure. Did that game where we were 33-35 from the free throw line really happen or was that a dream??? Hope to see good and consistent ball movement and defensive quickness. We could use some positive vibes especially after two losses by the women with their poor shooting and injury problems. Go Bulls!!!
