  1. We’ve played poorly for stretches and are up by 11. I’ll take it.
  2. Hahahahaha hahahahaha laying it on a little thick, aren’t we?
  3. Finally got around to reading through this thread…. Sadly It went exactly how I assumed it would. Gotta love half the board writing off the team after a loss to a national title contender and one half of a game they ended up winning. I get it, we come here to vent but yikes. Did anyone expect us to be 2-0 on the road against Michigan and north Texas? LOL its hilarious that people were calling for Whitesell to blow up on the refs, when a technical foul and the resulting free throws literally could’ve lost us the game. And come on, we’re seriously going to complain about Williams after he struggled to start the game? Dude just dropped 32 against Michigan and is one of the best players in the history of the program. they definitely have some things to clean up, but this was a good road win regardless of how it happened. In the previous couple seasons we lose this one (the Syracuse and Ohio games last year come to mind). Pulling off a W against the odds in the 2nd half is a great sign going forward this year. the refs were awful tonight. Some phantom calls and some that were really soft. The one to foul out Mballa at the end was ridiculous, it was a jump ball and they just decided to call a foul. The north Texas announcers were a little tough to take as well, but at least they were trying their best to be objective (and failing). some positives from tonight: Jack’s shooting was on, that’ll be huge if he can keep it close to that level I thought Skogman and Hardnett both looked good down low Mballa’s foul shooting has been money this year we stole a win against a quality opponent on the road in a game where we turned the ball over frequently and shot poorly for long stretches.
  4. Putting on my optimist hat, I think Brewton and Jack will find their shots. They just have to wait for open looks and take advantage. With teams having to focus on Williams, Segu, and Mballa those looks like come. It seemed like after the first couple misses they started forcing them up, either trying to cut the deficit or find their rhythm. Unfortunately it just wasn’t there yesterday. I also think minutes will get spread out more as the season goes on. Whitesell wasn’t going to throw any of the new guys to the wolves against Michigan. it was also maybe best opportunity Segu and Williams will have to put their skills on tape against higher level competition. Williams especially putting up 32 and looking like the best player on the court will go a long way to showing scouts what he’s got. I’d be surprised to see them play the same amount of minutes against say an SFA or UCI
  5. Obviously Williams and Segu were the stars tonight but I thought Skogman looked really good, I’m excited to see what he brings the rest of the year and especially in conference play. This season has the potential to be special
  6. Jeenathan is carrying the team on his back with 16 points and 6 for 9 shooting
  7. Well we are playing a national championship contender. Outside the horrific 3 point shooting I don’t think it’s that bad. Say we make even 30% of them and it’s a single digit deficit
  8. I don’t think we can realistically judge based on this season. Right now we look like a team without an identity, which to me is 100% from having no off-season to implement systems
  9. The MAC would be smart to accept them. Who cares about an odd number of teams? In basketball they got rid of divisions anyway.
  10. I guess UB will have to get the first statement win for the conference tomorrow
  11. Can they actually let Myers throw the ball when he goes in for once? Everyone knows it’s going to be a QB keep
  12. I wish this weren’t up against the football game. Would’ve liked to watch more of it
  13. I think that guy is just clueless. He keeps changing his story. I’ll wait for some news from one of the national guys
  14. I’d be happy with both teams especially in basketball, but it wouldn’t do anything to help the MAC’s reputation as being the conference of directional states lol
  15. Liberty is a bigger name, but they come with a lot of political baggage. Do the other teams even have DI football?
  16. Playing much better now. Jack looks like he’s going to be great for us
  17. Williams, Mballa and Brock on the floor together, will our opponents ever get a rebound?
  18. With that geographic footprint it doesn’t even make sense for us
  19. Who do you think will be tougher than WMU?
  20. IMO this will be our toughest conference game. Come out with a win and we’re looking great going forward
  21. That’s probably fair. The nice thing is the team controls their own destiny entering conference play. Start winning and we’ll swing right back in the other direction
  22. Undisclosed injury. I believe the coaching staff said they expect him back by next week
  23. All these things are fairly easily fixed. Blocked punts and unnecessary roughness calls suck, but they can be taken care of by next week.
  24. Haha yes it was bad, but I try to stay positive especially because we WON. Remember this coaching staff was hired in May, thanks to Lance packing up and leaving 5 months after the coaching changes are usually made. Then we dealt with losing players to the portal and bringing new ones in. It’s going to take a little time. There are things I’d like to see (a more aggressive game plan on offense for instance), but I’m realistic about this team needing time to find it’s rhythm
