  1. Didn't say anything about that K. Just enjoying a rare enjoyable moment in this one.
  2. Rondo dropped a guy on the baseline a few minutes ago 😂😂😂
  3. Obviously not why we lost, but the cynical "hack-a-____" should be called an intentional foul every time.
  4. Davonta Jordan has had some luck shooting over the years, but he's a poor shooter overall. He's fading FAR in random directions on every shot. And just brutal coaching out of the half. So frustrating. This team might be who we thought they were. Sometimes clutch, often clumsy and weak-minded.
  5. This bald ref is truly awful. Was last time he was here too. What's his name?
  6. It's decent. Blue hairs are dead as usual. True Blue, band and the Wrench Convention making noise. Student body too cool for school.
  7. -13 in 248 seconds... I'll bite my tongue on who's to blame for that
  8. Graves can be a stupefying, bonehead player for someone so talented. He forces things when he isn't involved.
  9. Nickelberry is really nothing like Jeremy. Jeremy had like 400 points at the same point in his two year career. Hoping Fagan comes back for two seasons after this. He'd be a valuable, versatile rotation player.
  10. Mind boggling that Nate Will, AJ and Mballa were glued to the bench the last 7-10 minutes. Was it tough love/teachable moment? Forgot his starters were on the bench? Mballa had probably his toughest game as a Bull, but still. Nate is an all-conference quality player at the moment and he was glued.
  11. Same as last game, AJ has totally revamped his distance shooting form in-season, which is no small feat. He's essentially shooting a set shot from 3 now, as opposed to his max-jump form from before. And the banter is fun. Poking fun at the chicken littles who refuse to comprehend that basketball is a game of runs, good and bad, is (unfortunately) one of the most enjoyable parts of following the sport and going to games.
  12. AJ seems to have made changes to his jumper. He used to jump very high and release once he came to a stop at the very top of his jump, wheras last night he was jumping lower and calmer and releasing more in rhythm as he got near his peak. Good stuff, keep it going.
  13. Interesting that Giambatista is sitting next to the coaches. Wonder if they're looking for some senior leadership to keep the bench spirits up.
  14. Such a lackadaisical, goofy team in character and play too often. Not enough dogs on the roster or staff. Pick it up.
  15. Eh. Lofton is a really nice player to be sure. But his 32 came on a 52.6% true shooting percentage, while Graves had 28 on a 75.1%. Sure Lofton had to jack up some tough shots due up score effects at the end, but Graves was just as good and likely better. Lofton's lack of efficiency likely lost Bona the game.
  16. Very happy with the win and sending Bona fans home with the L. That said, Whitesell hasn't shown that he can instill discipline in this team. We spent maybe 20 seconds over 4-5 possessions at the end of the game, which is inexcusable. It's going to burn us in the big moments come March.
  17. It's not at all that we shouldn't strive to make the big dance because we've already hurt our seeding so much. It's that the prestige we have earned as a result of our post-season success takes a real hit when we're getting blown out by bad basketball teams at home. Like you, I like winning and everything that comes with it. I also hate losing and what comes with it - including the rotten impression that a couple thousand loyal supporters left with yesterday after coming out in a snowstorm to see their boys get embarrassed. I know folks who bought walk-up tickets to both Dartmouth and Army. Are they coming back this year when we need a big crowd vs BG? It's very bad for the brand however you slice it. Did the idea of becoming the mid-major power of the East just die in everyone's mind when Oats left? That's still a real goal in my mind, and yes the most important factors in that are MAC trophies and banners leading to tournament appearances/wins. But the regular season, especially home games, build the story of the program just as much as two weeks in March. Guys like CJ and Nick are UB legends for their post-season performances, but also for their overall win-loss records, scoring records, home records, and record book stats. Legacies are built on winter Saturdays too. 🤘🏼
  18. I've heard this type of talk so much, sorry to reply to you about it...but. Is all we care about making the NCAA tournament now? Because what we're going to win the National Championship or something?? Can we lose every game, win the MAC tourny and it's all good? I'm so tired of this warped attitude that success is only based on how far we get postseason. I sure as hell hope that attitude hasn't infected the team and they think these games don't matter. I don't think it has, but if so why even watch these games then? See you in Cleveland eh? Stringing together high quality seasons, showing pride game in game out, is what this program should be about. Defending Alumni and putting a hurting on every team that walks in the door. Following our players because they're interesting kids who we hope will grow and eventually succeed. Next up is a three game set for local bragging rights. Are we the dominant program in WNY that we all think we are? Time to focus on the now and forget about Cleveland.
  19. I don't know if you're actually overreacting though. It's fair to heavily criticize the group right now. The highs can be high and the lows can be low, it isn't always a balanced ride. I'll criticize Whitesell and the staff after that one. There is zero energy coming from the staff. I sit directly behind the coaches and I literally heard Whitesell's voice one time. It doesn't help that we're down a man, but it feels a bit ragtag down there. Graves is bugging me. He plays with so little emotion. His game is becoming one dimensional with the straight downhill drives and his shot is so flat that when he's off from deep he's really off. Canisius and Bona will be tight games.
  20. Running horrible to zero offense. Awful body language. Finally heard coach's voice from four rows up...
  21. Genuinely curious what you mean by force? We're all rooting for the kid, but objectively has there been a player further from a force in recent memory? I'll take Brian Andre at this point.
  22. Both can be true. We are at a distinct disadvantage because our child recruiting specialist lost himself his dream job. And also, the rest of our staff is certainly recruiting right now like their jobs depend on it (because in the end, they do).
  23. Paul VI's second game was a another win over a nationally ranked team, Word of God. Freeman was a huge part of the win with 16 points. Really showed off his release in this one.
  24. JoJo Freeman has played some very high level games early in the season at the Hoopfest in DC. His Paul VI squad took down #2 in the country IMG Academy in a nice upset. He only scored 6 points on 2-10 shooting, but he played the third most minutes on a team with a 5* senior, a 5* junior (who picked up a Duke offer after this game), and a 5* soph. He's #24 in the video below which is a full game highlight (drains a super quick catch/release 3 at the 7:40 mark). Great to see him playing in one of the most intense and talent-laden high school games of the year. You can see why he didn't get the high-major looks (size for his skill set, quickness), but he should be an absolutely devastating shooter at the MAC level.
  25. Also saw JoJo Freeman in his replies on this post showing him love. Great to see the two forming a bond already. The guys this year and beyond seem to be carrying on the last couple years of great camaraderie. It's really invaluable - likely why the roster stuck together in the off-season.
