  1. Sure, that's why I wrote from what we can see. Other programs have kids in the transfer portal the day a coach splits town. The worst case scenario may still play out, but I respect the work I imagine they're doing.
  2. Forget my optimistic post in the main thread...😵😵😵
  3. I think some are reading too much into "how long this is taking." Oats resigned 9 days ago. The public bidding for Parker took until this Monday I believe? So the search has been on in earnest 4-5 days. It could be that a Final Four coach is in the mix, but I don't think that's the only explanation for taking time. It really hasn't been overly long. It's unlikely that, short of a really prominent hire, we were going to keep our recruiting class together. And if our new coach likes a recruit still, he can reach out and we already have a head start. Meanwhile, Whitesell and Quarles deserve credit for stabilizing the guys on the roster from what we can see. We've heard some young, dynamic P5 assistants mentioned as candidates. One of them can keep us at the top of the conference using their skills and Rolodex to build off our recent success, burgeoning brand, and geographic advantage within the MAC. I remain confident in Alnutt and I imagine we'll hear something no later than Monday or Tuesday if we want to wait until the National Championship news passes.
  4. Fun to talk about, but no reason to think Stephens is a realistic option at this point. Right hand man associate coaches at big time programs usually jump into the same conference or at least P5.
  5. Please no. BC is not the program we want to tap in to.
  6. Good to hear. I think most of us see he's a star personality and a great piece in a winning MAC lineup.
  7. This seems to contradict what Oats just posted, that he addressed team face to face. Any clarification here on why this "had to be said?"
  8. Those men's ratings are fantastic. Nice to quantify the surge in interest that we all felt.
  9. Murray's Louisville profile quotes Chris Mack calling him a "superstar" and states he's been the lead recruiter for Xavier and Louisville. That's appealing. And Bill Murray at UB games would make us forget the Blue Collar schtick fast. I'm really rooting for this now.
  10. ??? People are downgrading Segu now? He'll be a fine MAC PG and all-conference quality as a senior. Kid is a skilled gamer with tons of heart.
  11. This account is an identity politics troll farm, but... Googling Charlie Wilde Buffalo returns nothing. Anyone know his roots?
  12. At this point I doubt that Hodgson is on UB payroll. There hasn't been an announcement one way or the other, but this wouldn't be allowed if he were. I assume he's an assistant coach at Alabama who has or will interview at UB. Disappointing either way.
  13. Watford was an Alabama target long before Oats. And we can enjoy in some schadenfreude when he gets poached by Duke as part of a package with their other big time freshman, which was the word from McDonald's week.
  14. Yep, this is right. And regarding Hawkins, he's really feeling himself with this Bama offer. He likes the clout and attention, unsurprisingly. I highly doubt he'd choose UB over Bama even if Hodgson were named coach.
  15. Probably a troll or fan of another team, seeing as Noah hasn't decommited.
  16. This is where my head is. One thing that could make us Gonzaga East or even St. Mary's East is drilling into a pool of talent that we have a major advantage with. Those schools have the international market dialed in. If UB becomes a destination for athletes from Southern Ontario, we would have a path to real prominence. One of the names mentioned with Buffalo and Toronto ties is Mike Mennenga from Oregon, who I don't know much about. I hope Alnutt isn't ignoring the many millions of folks living to our north.
  17. Just to keep everyone level headed, Instagram has a feature where you can answer questions people ask you and post a picture along with it. Someone said "you the goat (greatest of all time) and he replied "I'm trying to get there not just yet" with a video of him on his visit looking cool with a gold chain on. I think he was just posting a video that looks cool and goes with his answer. It's a good sign I guess, but it is not even close to a confirmation that he's still on board 100%. He took down his commitment post when Oats left, so I'm not sure we should all be celebrating yet.
  18. This is spot-on unfortunately.
  19. This is good detective work. Don't know much about him and Campbell except for Clemons but his records haven't been impressive at all. Please nobody find a link between him and Alnutt...
  20. Allen asked out, Hawkins looks like he's switching from us to Bama. Haven't heard of Noah, Durey, or Rojas abandoning ship. Correct me if I'm wrong.
  21. We're coming up on the 24 hour mark... who's to say he isn't carrying out his disaster plan right now? I'm as hungry for news as anyone, but Alnutt has proven himself extremely capable thus far and I'm looking forward to seeing what he does here (as we move into day 2 remember).
  22. Only time will tell, but it seems like a bunch of the guys had as strong if not stronger affinity for Coach B. And the program is so much more established now than in 2015. Some coaching continuity on top of the brand/success/momentum might just make the difference in keeping guys here. Sure if Oats tries to pull Jayvon it might not make a difference, but I don't think any of these kids said I absolutely have to play for Nate Oats in college. They saw a good team and an opportunity. That can remain true. And maybe there's a bit of a rallying point around keeping this thing going and how Oats left. Hell maybe the seniors can even help with that.
  23. Fair on Oats, but a mischaracterization of Hodgson. He can't assume that he'll have a role at UB under a new coach and he has an offer from Oats to go to Alabama. The only thing that will keep him here is the head role. We have no quotes from him. No proof that it's the hostage situation you describe. The players commitment was to Oats and Hodgson as much or more as it was to UB. Who can blame the kids for wanting to stick with the guys who they made connections with personally and basketball-wise. Hire Hodgson and the team stays mostly together organically, it isn't a conspiracy.
