  1. Only if the NCAA has a beef with someone specific.
  2. Looks like UConn may have the inside track.
  3. Everyone looking for the next Mark Sears I live less than an hour from The Mount. Maybe I will go at lunch time decked out in UB gear and try to find the basketball team to make a sales pitch. That shouldnโ€™t violate any rules, right?
  4. Leading scorer was a Senior. 2nd leading scorer - Deโ€™Shayne Montgomery, 6โ€™4โ€ freshman guard, 13.2 ppg and 41.2% from 3. best rebounder was 4.5 RPG and several guys around 4rpg.
  5. Not a transfer, but we picked up a commitment from Drake Saltarelli out of IMG, 6'1 215lb LB. Sounds like he has family in the Buffalo area. I know Lembo mentioned we are a bit thin at LB, so maybe a Freshman depth piece for us.
  6. That's what I'm saying. You should be able to find guys that want to play like that. Time will tell.
  7. No disagreements there. Maybe I'm grasping at straws, but I need to cling to something or believe in something at this point. ๐Ÿ˜‚ On a side note from my homer self, I do feel good about Coach Lembo, not sure if we have a QB, but I think our overall team is going to be greatly improved.
  8. Short answer, no, I did not see that. I also saw a team that was extraordinarily fragmented. I saw a lot of lazy veteran play. I saw a lot of young players that deferred to veterans most of the season and we consistently let down. It is probably wishful thinking, but this year will be 100% GH3 recruits, so I will reserve judgement until after this season. I did listen to almost all of Dan Hurley's interview where he talks about player selection, his thoughts on building a team and I think he is 100% correct that it really only takes one bad apple and it really does change the dynamic of an entire team. I only saw one game live and it was the Niagara game and the level of selfish play and laziness I observed was painful to see. That group was not a team at that point and never really got any better.
  9. Is it possible that GH3 is trying to build something like UConn, except at a mid-major level? Interchangeable parts, constant movement, tough defense, motion that allows you to finish at the rim. It takes the right kind of players and the proper character and mentality. Most of the Alabama kids, for example, couldn't play in Hurley's system. Not that UConn doesn't have good players, but you can tell that they all are playing for the greater good, very unselfish and each player seems to have that same mentality. It was an impressive display to watch. Not sure if it is really achievable at this level, but I am wondering if that may be part of the cultural shift he is going for. Pure speculation and maybe I just want to have something to aspire to, but after seeing that display, you may not just need 5 superstars to win in college basketball, maybe getting back to actual basketball and focusing on fundamentals does have a place still.
  10. I would agree but they are talking $17 million/year to surpass Self. Either way heโ€™s getting a raise, especially if they win tonight
  11. Looks like Hurley is Kentuckyโ€™s plan A. Not sure what his buyout is, but itโ€™s likely significant. Oats could be plan B
  12. Seems like an odd choice, but likely something is at least covering his tuition so itโ€™s like a scholarship. Either that or his family has enough money to cover his school costs and he really wanted to play there.
  13. I wouldnโ€™t expect much until after the spring games and people start getting slotted, but I could be wrong.
  14. Itโ€™s just as you said, priorities. SUNY and Buffalo have prioritized academics and research money. Athletics was just a part of the college experience. As I said before, we never went โ€œall-inโ€ when we went D1 and that has continued. Number of applications has never been an issue, so they donโ€™t believe getting more eyes on the athletics will help in that respect. They obviously also donโ€™t think making that investment into top end athletics will be being enough additional money to make a difference. If the next UB president is a big fan of college athletics, maybe it will change. That type of push needs to come from that level.

  16. Very true, she is able to find some very talented people for sure. Paige Kohler, from last year's recruiting class that completely bailed out, is a legitimate PG star at BG, so BB was right about her for sure.
  17. Maybe Hurley recommended him.
  18. Maybe. The other two may have been encouraged to enter.
  19. Wow, Ogden is a surprise. The other 2 maybe not as much since freshman and transfers are coming in at their positions. That opens things up a bit. in other news, Syracuse women is losing one of their solid freshman to the portal too. Nobody is above the portal.
  20. I guess they were impressed with his hustle, defensive abilities and what a great teammate he was.
  21. 6โ€™5 would play well in the MAC. The unfortunate part would mean someone would have to go.
  22. Certainly an interesting choice. Former HS or AAU connection involved? If not it seems like NIL would be the most likely bet.
  23. Word on the street was Stutzman wanted more for his guys, better AT support, better academic support, etc. He was probably a squeaky wheel, but from what I have heard, it was about fighting for the guys, not himself. He had a 2-year contract that was no renewed last season, so I'm guessing ADMA was likely frustrated with the complaints, but if the Olympic sports don't get the support they need, I would want a coach that stands up for that.
