Honestly take your negativity elsewhere. It’s the offseason. We’ll have plenty of time to cuss and throw fits. This is GH’s team now. We can be realistic but still optimistic until it’s time to roll the ball out.

Honestly, we have about as much knowledge of what the guys will do as if we had a bunch of 3 and 4 star recruits. Until everyone gets together and rotations are set you don’t know.  EMU was going to be really good when 4 star went to EMU, they were a dumpster fire. Segu and Williams, arguably our best recruits ever, on paper, underperformed. Nate is now in the NBA so obviously talent wasn’t the problem. Nobody knows so I’m going to be optimistic until they give me a reason not to. We won 3 games last year, I don’t think I want those top 7 back for an encore.

Yeah, I’m pretty pissed off about that honestly. I support wrestling quite a bit and things have been on the upturn and the recruiting classes continue to get better. ADMA screwed the pooch on this a number of ways. I spoke with one of the wrestlers and also one of the former assistant coaches about this and bottom line is ADMA didn’t like Coach Stutzmans approach to fighting for his guys and their health. As I assume you all know, he really only cares about football, there is no grey area there. I am really happy with the Lembo hiring and I think he is a great fit. However, no UB athlete should be made to feel like this or be subject to these conditions. I firmly believe the administration is 95% in the wrong here. The reason I’m holding back 5% is because nothing is black and white. This is a huge embarrassment and one more obstacle for the next coach to have to overcome.

  3. I guess even the aura of Nate Oats, all the NIL money in the world and a Final 4 doesn't make a team immune from turnover. Nick Pringle has said "Peace Out". If this is the new world order, what hope do we have to find and develop any talent.

Regular signing period starts tomorrow 4/17-5/15 Thompson has a NLI event planed so the site should be updated once the NLI is signed. That's probably the same reason for Makenna Shaffer not being updated on the site as well. If that plays out then we only have one available scholarship which would be the final  Becky BOOM...

Alrighty then. I assumed she was no longer with us, but l guess she is! Would like one more big with the last scholarship, even if it’s just another big practice body

2 scholarships left? Get an upperclassmen big with experience and then maybe a freshman that you'll redshirt regardless of position

I would be on board with that. a redshirt PG would be nice for down the road.

I feel the coaching staff is striving to get the best player and don't think they are just settling.  Here are the ballhandlers that they have pursued and who committed elsewhere:

Given the current situation, it is not surprising to me that these players chose the other teams (and better conferences).  I don't know if there will be a huge drop off with what these players would have been able to contribute at UB vs  what Dunn can contribute.  Unfortunately, UB needs to take some steps forward to get back to where they can compete for players with schools of this caliber again.

I would suspect Belmont has some NIL program. The other two certainly do. That could be a factor as well if it came down to either or with any of these 3.

  7. Posted by Jack Kreuzer (voice of UB WBB) earlier today. A few interesting developments:

    Guards (8):

    Chellia Watson

    KLW

    Sitota Gines

    Paula Lopez

    Noelani Cornfield (Transfer)

    Terah Harness (Transfer)

    Mallory Daly (Freshman)

    Aniya Rowe (Freshman)

    Posts (4):

    Alexis Davis

    Ariana Seawell (Transfer)

    Jaylin Hartman (Transfer)

    Bri Barr-Buday (Freshman)

That leaves 12 with 3 more scholarships available. Based upon this, Ida Jonsson Ojala and Chryssi Gouzelou are also gone from the roster. Neither are a real loss in the overall scheme and the current 12 seem to be an upgrade. Also, previous Freshman Thompson is no longer listed, so she either decommitted, was academically ineligible or something. This roster above is already posted on the UB Athletics Website.

I had to do a double take, could not really believe it. Burke has via the portal and HS recruiting addressed the weakness of last years and loss to the roster.  We needed a point guard ✔️athletic size for rebounding ✔️ 3pt shooting ✔️ additional scoring options from the bench✔️.  The challenge will be to get them all to jell and play cohesively at a high level. The summer work outs should be extremely competitive along with some team building should help. Looking forward to the season.

Very impressive offseason. I didn't like losing Ogden, but I think her production won't be missed. Her personality was good and she seemed like a good teammate. I think it will be a really fun season!

Just mentioned this in the QB1 thread but Ogbonna looked solid on Saturday. He was whipping the ball around and connected on multiple deep balls to Taji Johnson for 50+ yard touchdowns. He also threw a TD to Victor Snow. It's clear they're testing his arm out during the spring.

Very nice, thanks for the info. I have heard that Victor Snow is very fast.

I've been to two spring practices and can already see a huge difference between how things are run under Lembo compared to Mo.

Practices have been upbeat and he enjoys being a teacher and letting his coaches coach. He's going to get UB football back on track.

Btw, CJ Ogbonna looked really good during their scrimmage on Saturday and appears to be leading the QB battle.

Was CJ able to throw with some level of accuracy or was it mainly a running attack? The one clip I saw from Nik McMillian's catch seemed to come from DiPillo.

Great to hear that there is a noticeable difference. I heard something similar from one of the player's dad's who was also in attendance.

She has said multiple times that Syracuse is her “hometown team”. Whatever.

    Disappointing.

Anyone know if she was recruited by SU out of HS and FLJ talked her into coming to UB?

I guess the Bulls have their PG.  Very little to go on as to how his skills will translate to D1 in US.  The Western Mustangs were the best team in OUA West division and they lost in semifinals of OUA tournament.    I am really curious to see how this team plays in November.

Said he led all of Canada in assists too, that should help.

  13. True to form, we have another Canadian!

    Image

    31 minutes/game, 15.5 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 6.4 assists/game, 2.11 assist/turnover ratio, 37.5% 3-points (30-80), 75% FT shooter.

Hopefully it can translate to UB and give us a veteran presence that looks like he can shoot and distribute. 5.8 rpg is really solid for a 6'3 guard as well, could be a gym rat.

I really like this pickup. Gives the staff another open scholarship next season, but she will reap us rewards this year. A real low block presence that is used to playing 28 minutes a game, which she will likely not have to do this season, so she can be fresh, clean the boards and give us much needed post scoring. Well done staff.

All she had to do was mention Buffalo once during her interview, and that alone could have ramped up recruiting for future years

I think Coach Burke is doing well with recruiting, but yeah. She mentioned Rochester a bunch, why not give UB a little love for giving her the start to her career.

For what it's worth, watching the video clips at the UBBulls.com site has me a bit jazzed up for the upcoming football season.  I couldn't tell you the last time I was looking forward to football this far out.  Lembo has definitely created something...

If nothing else, I love the personality he is showing and I would think that would rub off on the players. From what I heard, the last few years were not fun and very overbearing. If nothing else, hopefully these guys can play a little looser and let their abilities shine through. I'm not saying you shouldn't have discipline, but you need a balance or you are going lose guys mentally and you will see the product we had on the field last year.

Nah. As far as I’ve heard she doesn’t mention Buffalo at all…ever. Best of luck to her, but she’s not #ForeverABull

Sadly, you are right. This is a perfect example of players go for the coach, not the school. Not always the case, but many times the case.

This will be interesting both ways. WNBA is chocked full of talent and players on the larger end. I'm wondering if DF will be able to compete at that level given her stature. I know she has played against bigger teams her entire career, but most in the NCAA don't have the honed skills of grown women that are 6'2"+ packing rosters. With on'y 12 roster spots, you can't really afford to keep players that may be considered a project.

Will also be interesting for FLJ. She has 4 women in the portal so far (including McEvans) and will no longer have Fair to lean on as she has for 5 seasons. Wooley is a solid player, but I don't see her taking over that role. Not sure what recruits she has coming in, but I would be surprised if they maintained the same level next season after a loss of a player like that.

I still wish her well, but it would be nice to get a Buffalo shout out once in a while too.

Fair just got drafted #17 by the two-time defending champion Las Vegas Aces as their first pick. Makes 2 recent UB pros, both from Rochester.

We get to claim her too, I don’t care what anyone says 😂

  19. Our Roster may be complete for the WBB team! Coach Burke just posted a huge Boom and said 3/3 Stay tuned. Assuming Makenna is 1 of 3, that means 2 more announcements should be forthcoming in the next day or so. If she got in 3 recruits over the weekend and landed them all, that is wild stuff!!
