  1. Thanks to you for constantly giving. I made a larger gift a few week's ago, not knowing that this day was going on. Whether it's on a giving day or just any day, it's a desired step in the right direction for the programs.
  2. Why would a big event like that be done low key?
  3. I received an email a few days ago saying that it was postponed. It hasn't been?
  4. No idea. If it was the only time that a guy left after "committing", signing or attending for a year, then my sentiment could've been off. Unfortunately it's a general pattern for many (our signee from this winter as an example). In many cases, I feel as though there's too many voices in these kid's ears telling them that they can "do better" or "bigger" or that they should be "the guy" at the school and the school is misusing them, etc. I'm glad to say that I didn't do that when I committed to a college, competed for that college, and graduated from it. Circumstances can arise that would warrant changes, I absolutely get that, but the "portal" is out of control. While I know that I'm old and out of touch, very few bounced around back then. All that being said, best of luck to him wherever he lands up. Hopefully it will work out.
  5. So many of these guys are so finicky. It's ridiculous. Many of them transfer to and from high schools/prep schools, then they go to college and they do the same thing. The times have most assuredly changed, and in this case, not for the better.
  6. Just is awful for the athletes of those sports. The schools that cut sports that save literally thousands of dollars while spending multiple millions on another is very sad. In the end, very little savings are being made in some of these cuts. Your points resonate strongly.
  7. Cool video. Thanks for sharing here. Nice to see some of our guys again!
  8. So evidently you believe that Akron, who had 2 Olympians in track & field (including one who ran XC for them and medaled in the last Olympics) is going to have a high quality team now without any distance runners? Do you believe that any quality distance runners will attend Akron knowing that they will miss out on their fall sport? Unlikely. Their coach is a very highly capable one, but will have a hard time achieving any scoring in events in the mid-distance and long distance races now. You feel that these are good choices by those schools? Those teams that do XC without track, how good are they in XC? Toledo, BG and Ohio are at the bottom of the league quite frequently. These sports are generally lightly funded (on the men's side) and comprise themselves of rosters with a great number of walk-ons, paying full tuition to the school. Does cutting their sport add to the overall $$ of the university? I find it to be extremely unlikely. The sports at these schools offer a handful of track & field scholarships for a 40 man roster +/- (none of whom get special entrance treatment for acceptance into the school and many of whom pay full tuition less academic/need aid), don't have overly inflated coaching staff salaries, and infrequently (if ever) travel in manners other than a bus/van for day-trips/overnight, makes a minimal savings to a school when they're cut. Add in the disrespect to the alumni of those sports and future loss of donations by those alumni and future alumni of those sports as well.
  9. No, why would you drop it when it's athletes and coaches are encompassed within the XC and outdoor track & field? That would be very foolish and would essentially kill both of the other programs. No more dropped sports at UB! We just dropped 4 a few years ago. There's NO reason to be dropping anything any further.
  10. I think that the roster has plenty of big men. Mballa and J. Williams have played lots of minutes and are athletic bigs who can do it on offense and on the boards. Hardnett showed flashes in limited minutes last year. Bertram is what he is, gives you super effort and is a solid role player for a few spot minutes here and there. Fagan will return, and I had some high hopes for him last year. Skogman is a wild card after redshirting last year. That's actually a LOT of bigs to go with very athletic guards, and might be the most "bigs" that we've had ever. It depends how you consider a "big", but 6'6-6'7+ would satisfy that for me and is represented by all of these guys.
  11. I have no problem with criticism when it's warranted. Again, the team replaced 4 All-MAC players from the year before. The fact that you figured that they'd win (evidently) 25+ games since 20 wasn't enough is ridiculous. Had we all hoped for better? Of course, however a 20 win season following the best season ever and incredible graduating class/new staff/re-tooled incoming class is nothing less than reasonable, but not in your eyes. Instead, you always gravitate on the loss to the 12-seed (which no one is happy about, but the score starts at 0-0 in sports) and worst home record in the MAC (how was their road record compared to the rest of the MAC?). With regard to "how much you do or don't donate" has nothing to do with anything. If you want to frequently criticize the program, then do something to help it so that it can meet your expectations. That seems like a valid statement as well.
  12. Yep, and your sctick is negativity towards the players, coaches and team always, so it goes hand in hand. Another fact is that the team won 20 games last year after having graduated 5 players, 4 of whom were All MAC players. That season also included a coaching overhaul and needing to replace an entire recruiting class. Sorry that wasn't good enough for you. Additionally, since clearly UB basketball doesn't live up to your expectations, maybe you should donate towards them so that they can have more resources towards achieving whatever it is that they need to do in order to please you. http://bullsbwf.com/bef/
  13. Buddy, for someone who always claims to be a UB lover, you project more hate on the players and coaches than anyone on here, in a majority of your posts. It's tiresome. Instead of always finding things to criticize, be happy that this team has been so successful over the past many years, in addition to having a strong core returning and adding an impressive recruiting class. Life isn't all gumdrops and candy, but give your negative comments of the team a rest.
  14. It's quite unlikely that room/board/tuition/ fees is only $25k. There aren't many colleges in the USA that only cost $25k. Maybe 25 years ago but not in 2020. Edit, after actually looking it up, they are relatively close to 25k, even for out of state residents. No wonder they're broke. Private High schools around here cost close to that for just tuition.
  15. There's no way that all 32 were on full scholarship. Also, I'd imagine that scholarships are worth more than $25k. Tennis and golf most likely on scholarship, xc kids were nowhere near full scholarships though (maybe a couple of scholarships total spread among members of the team and they still get their scholarships as they're on t & f).
  16. I mean, that's really a ridiculous cut. Cutting men's XC...how much money does that really save them? Other than going to a handful of meets (with many that can be day trips), the XC guys are (or were) on the track & field team as is (was) the coach.
  17. Not good, especially considering their men's track & field program has produced Olympians (and a medalist) over the past few years.
  18. It's May 2. There's plenty of time and players out there.
  19. Yes, but if he transfers he'll have to sit and be set up for 2021.
  20. Maybe he wants to play for a "bigger name" program since he can try to gain endorsements with the new rule going into place. With a name like "Nike", maybe he feels that he can earn a good deal of $$ elsewhere. All of the transfers, new $$ rules and recent shutdowns is a big problem with regard to the way things have been and will be, in my opinion.
  21. Did he play for UB last year? If he makes the team, will it say "Buffalo" as his college?
  22. Well, that's not good, for us or those like us.
