  1. I’m not mistaken don’t the Mac teams split money the further a team goes in the dance? I could be wrong there. The money is split conference wide. The more they win, the more money for UB.
  2. They will have it much earlier. It was meant to calm people down because we do not have a new coach in five days.
  3. For everyone concerned that a new coach has yet to be named, based on discussions with people in college sports UB will have a coach and staff plus a roster for when practice begins in the fall.
  4. And the situation at Alabama continues to worsen. Another player was at the scene. https://www.nytimes.com/2023/03/15/sports/ncaabasketball/alabama-shooting.html
  5. Football was dropped by the students who funded it through fees. That is democracy. Ketter brought football back in 1977. By the fall of 1977 there was talk of returning to Division I.
  6. Per football scoop he is going to Georgia Southern.. Helton must have liked how shut them down.
  7. Ask Niagara about that. They do not want to play UB.
  8. Season tickets are $20.83 per game. If you wait for the annual flash sales you can get season tickets for even less by buying every game in the sale. That is not expensive. The lighting at the stadium was upgraded a few years ago to meet ESPN lighting requirements.
  9. IN the WNIT Kent State is on their way to Syracuse. Just when you think you are out of the MAC, it pulls you right back in.
  10. You assume that the New York Times has a normal sports section. It does not. Which is a shame because some of their columnist, who are rarely published any more are great writer.
  11. Not necessarily. Leipold finished his run to a national championship after being hired. Same could be done with basketball. Give the new coach a cell phone and he can be recruiting while still coaching/
  12. Is Utica too far away for him to be considered a local hire?
  13. Oats signed a new contract ten days or so before going to Alabama. So the "new contract" is meaningless.
  14. Then why was he was wearing Alabama gear while still an employee of UB?
  15. I have no idea why anyone thinks that connections to the Buffalo area should play at all in a selection, for this or any other opening. If you want a young up and comer and they do well they will be poached. Somebody will put a number on a piece of paper and they will be off to Lincoln, Norman or Corvallis. If you want a coach who is going to finish out their career in Buffalo, be from the area will not make a difference. Personally my choice would be Becky Hammon. She wants to be a head coach in the NBA. To help her reach her dream, she needs to show that she can coach men. Why not show everyone that she can at UB? Not to mention the amount of free publicity such a hire would create for UB.
  16. I know him and like him as a person and am a donor. My answer is no. I would not want anyone associated in any with Alabama basketball this season. If Alabama was in the middle of the pack of the SEC this year, I think they would have cleaned house already. The only reason they did not is because they have a shot to win it all. As time goes on the fallout could go from the president, to the AD to the entire staff. Think Binghamton. They had their scandal with a crime and all those people lost their jobs.
  17. Public (MAC) vs Private (MAAC) could be why.
  18. My comment was not a shot at Schmidt but at UB Horns Up.
  19. So St. Bonaventure spent $1,000,000.00 on a coach and went 14-18 and lost their first tournamnet game. Not so great a return on investment.
  20. If you have not watched them then you have no idea what you are talking about. This team has six players who play because of injuries and people leaving the team. Today was basically their fourth straight tournament game. The last three games of the season, including a road game at the then first place Bowling Green, were win or no trip to Cleveland. They won all three and played their guts out today. As other have said there was one returning player as well as a number of one and done former Division II players. Of the Division II players one was second team All MAC the other was the leading rebounding guard in the nation and a double-double performer. Oh and in case you missed the women have not been a team playing out their schedule. They went to the tournament last year and have won a total of four games in the NCAA tournament, including a trip to the Sweet 16., which are more wins than your beloved Bobby Hurley and Nate Oats had combined while at UB, in fewer season and an At-Large bid. If you do not pay attention to something, do not comment on it.
  21. Up 3 after 3. They have been playing great today.
  22. First did you contact the Alumni Association on any of these issues. I did. The Boston Facebook page has been shut down, as have most of the other Facebook regional pages. This is a trend among all universities. The only active pages left are for New York City Philadelphia and a couple of others. To follow the Alumni Association join the Facebook page for the entire Alumni Association. https://www.facebook.com/buffaloalumni Follow them on Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/groups/45193/ You can register for UB Connect on the Alumni Association's home page: https://www.buffalo.edu/alumni.html If already registered make sure they have all your current contact information. For events you can look at the events page: https://www.buffalo.edu/alumni/events.html You can also go to the UB Now page and contact them to receive a daily email about what is happening on campus: https://www.buffalo.edu/ubnow.html Hope this helps.
  23. Is this the NIL that UB does not have? https://ubbulls.com/news/2022/8/25/general-ub-launches-built-in-buffalo-nil-education-program.aspx
  24. You do realize that the scheduling of the games for the last four weeks of the season are all for television. Our game on Tuesday will be on TV. Whatever games the MAC scheduled for Black Friday have already filled up the available TV slots, so the game cannot be moved. Also it is very expensive to play in Orchard Park. Who is paying for snow removal, like last time, when it was removed twice? Also the Tuesday game allows players, coaches and staff to enjoy Thanksgiving at home. Thanksgiving dinner in a hotel is horrible. Been there, done that.
