BrooklynBull
First there was a COVID issue, https://www.nytimes.com/2020/06/25/sports/ncaafootball/college-football-coronavirus-cases.html?searchResultPosition=8 Now there is a protest over what a student tweeted https://www.nytimes.com/aponline/2020/06/28/sports/ncaafootball/ap-fbc-racial-injustice-kansas-state-tweet.html?searchResultPosition=1 It will be an interesting 70 days. Because of ongoing technical issues, I cannot add another post to the thread. Kansas State has a 15.26% positive test rate. Only two cases are currently active. https://twitter.com/BruceFeldmanCFB/status/1282793892367097856?s=20 Edited July 14, 2020 by BrooklynBull Updaed with test results. rma
If they do not have enough football players to field a team they can just find a snowstorm and drive their equipment truck into it and we'll just go on to week 2 like nothing happened. I’m usually very optimistic about the season starting on time but this whole virus issue in the south is a bit worrisome. If a bunch of southern FBS schools close for fall semester they might just cancel the season. Still have to months left, hopefully they could play in spring if it comes to it

Way too much money involved not to I don't have a crystal ball, but there are multiple things going on at the same time: People want to watch college football in the fall. Schools will open and, because these are 18 - 21 year old kids, there will be outbreaks of COVID-19 at most campuses. Someone described a college campus as a cruise ship...that is an apt analogy. You can enforce social distancing in classrooms, but what about everywhere else and off campus? It is inevitable. Schools NEED dining halls and residential halls to be open -- they are important revenue streams for schools. I suspect what will happen is that schools will open (most, anyway) and, at some point (after too many COVID-19 outbreaks), the schools will go back to the on-line approach they used at the end of the spring. Let's say this occurs towards the end of September. Sports teams at many schools will stay open because they are cash cows and the conferences want the TV revenues. It will be one, big charlie foxtrot, however.
BrooklynBull
Big XII is looking to not start play before 9-12-20. That puts the Kansas State game in doubt as it was set for 9-5-20. https://247sports.com/college/kansas-state/Article/Kansas-State-football-athletic-director-Gene-Taylor-and-Big-12-Conference-subcommitte-continue-to-labor-over-2020-schedule-149957185/
