  1. The stadium’s estimated cost is $74 million. And they are crowdfunding for it: https://www.givecampus.com/schools/UniversityofSouthAlabama/get-on-campus More renderings and details here: https://www.southalabama.edu/departments/development/stadiuminvestments/
  2. I'm trying to go to this one, haven't solidified plans yet, it would suck if I flew in and it was sold out. Would also kinda stink to sit in the 300's as I never have before. Online information is sparse. There were when I last looked a couple of stub hub tickets in a reasonable price/section.
  3. South Alabama's new football stadium has social gathering designed into it. https://www.cdfl.com/project-update-the-university-of-south-alabama/
  4. I love this moment after we got our first lead, how the team comes out to celebrate once the timeout is called.
  5. Also on replay, both got the quick hook, but both were cheering and being active on the bench instead of going the woe is me approach.
  6. I think based on NET we're a 3 seed playing in the East division starting at Hartford, CT Long live NET
  7. They actually give me hope of running through the MAC, because all of our loses (I believe) came after a huge halftime lead, and our seniors losing interest, until it was too late to get the engine started again. This year, up 20, we can put in reserves and run the offense through Williams and Segu, let them develop and more importantly not see a drop off in effort level...and hopefully no dropped leads.
  8. He had one touch i remember, where he did a good job trying to drive through the zone, I thought he was fouled but the ref called a travel. I think he maybe responded too negatively for Oats liking and he got the bench.... I felt Segu was too jazzed up. I think the team was overall a little over-excited, but Oats did the right thing, let his seniors play and settle into the game.
  9. I think it's because we're missing open shots. I think we could have scored 100 in most of our games if we hit our shots, of course we'd have probably called off the dogs and put in the subs after scoring like 80 anyway... I stand by the idea that right now we all -9 to the score. When we're even we feel like we're down 9. When we're up 9 it feels even. When we're up 15 I'm up on the edge of my seat like it's a two possession game. Bona hits a 3 to bring it to 12 and I'm like uh oh...then I realize, it's still a 4-6 possession lead, and then we hit back to back 3's. I love this team.
  10. Fair, figure you'd only have to go 300k a year until Alumni gets "status" as a basketball destination maybe 5 years... = 1.5 million? Side note, so much of the media is calling out UCF for not wanting to go (2 for 1) even people calling UCF scared of UF. The media makes it so hard for mid majors to schedule. P5 teams duck and hide, and media calls out the G5 teams for being scared.
  11. So let's say we got the option of 3 funds: OOC Guarantee Fund: 6.7 million endowed to give 300k annually to the program earmarked to pay 3 teams 100k to come to Alumni. Nate Oats pay the man Fund: Same amount endowed to add to his salary to keep him around. Basketball Practice Facility Fund: 6.7 Million as the 50% needed to finance a 13.4 million facility. Which do you support? Honestly the money might be best spent on the OOC fund. More marquee games, more ticket sales, bigger fan base, possibly higher ticket prices, but the resulting cash could pay for more Oats money and a practice facility.
  12. White kept talking about 'we', the 'we' being Syracuse. "we might storm the court if we beat you" Hit my ears wrong, That's like Simon calling the Jets 'we' during his Bills coverage. Shouldn't be OK
  13. I think nationally the perception is, well he got a head start from Hurley but we need to see a bit more before we crown him. UB nation: He used Hurley's name, to start, but ultimately he was the engine behind the Hurley teams and he now can use his name to open doors, let the good times roll. After CJ and Harris leave, the nation will write us off, but if we stay near the top of the country, then Oats will get his national respect.
  14. Ok robot student fans with webcams controlled by students in Long Island at home on their mobile phones. Are robot fans the key to millennial attendance?
  15. RMA, you're right, if the goal is to mimic the atmosphere, you cant just throw in stand ins with no connection and expect the same passionate atmosphere. Ireland showed me all it takes is a t-shirt to get elementary kids to cheer for you, but the older kids, that's harder.
  16. We play 4 home games during finals and winter break, which is 29% of our home games. I read a lot that our building wont be full or have the same atmosphere minus the students, which made me think of my time at UB. I went to games with my UB friends, but I could never get a non-UB local to pay to go to a UB game with me. So what if during finals and break, every student could bring 2 to 3 friends with them for free? Might keep the student section full and might help develop some more local fans who will presumably return to Buffalo after their college careers. Any other ideas?
  17. Interestingly, Fertitta went to Texas Tech, left went home to Houston and then dropped out to be an entrepreneur...making his first million in what would have been his senior year. Maybe instead of throwing money at a facility, we should just start a UB Athletics Innovation incubator.
  18. Unless this was a trap game for SIU. 🤣 Perk should eat, coming off his bad game, as they look uninterested in the paint. IDK if this was previously discussed ESPN+ has a "when each undefeated team will lose post" They say we beat Cuse lose to Marquette. I'd take it.
  19. Absolutely love Manny Diaz as a DC, and worried that Temple, who has kinda reveled in being the dullest team in the country is gonna get some Defensive swagger. Also Temple Football Forever doesn't like the hire, and he's basically wrong about everything, so it's probably a good hire.
  20. I have no opinion on what they were pre-scandal, my point is I kept hearing SCANDAL and I was thinking something big, turns out, kinda run of the mill, and not really a big deal in most senses of college athletics (minus the President being in on the dirt, although if money is coming in, President's usually walk away so that's not that surprising either)
  21. I lived through 2 NCAA probations (but was not involved in either) if you're guilty you cut a plea. Noted, being guilty isn't wrong, the infraction is wrong, acknowledging the wrong, fixing and educating is the basis of NCAA So to say we were wrong and this is what were gonna do, is much preferred to the NCAA
  22. I get that, but it was a postseason ban for the current year, and a loss of 3 scholarships. So 03-04 is sunk, 04-05 your team jumps ship and you have no recruits. but 05-06 you pick back up. Seeing as 1) once they were on probation their program stalled and 2) the president and board was complicit with the welding certificate thing... I'd say they probably did a lot more stuff on and across the line to support their program, and when they were forced to play it straight, their ceiling is a .500 team with a run in them once every 4 years. Syracuse just recently had a postseason ban and lost 8 scholarships and they are still on probation, they're fine.
  23. We got about 2 minutes of UB talk on Hawaii sports talk during my drive home tonight, no real knowledge of who we are, but kinda talk about how it's cool that were up there and the Arizona & WVU wins.
