  1. It’s just closing for new entries
  2. Canisius lost about half of its enrollment over the past decade. The school is in a terrible financial situation. The basketball program is in a bad situation as well. UB has gained enrollment as college enrollment drops nationwide. UB's endowment crossed a billion dollars recently. I can complain about NY politics and bullshit SUNY bureaucracy while still being accurate about UB's future vs the future of the Little 3 as institutions and athletic programs.

  4. This is worse than Bonnies fans telling us about the good ol' days when they made the Final Four and won the NIT. I think UB should close up the basketball programs. We will never be able to replicate the success of CCNY's 1950 run when they won both the NIT and the NCAA tournament. Since then, Bona won the NIT, Syracuse won the NCAA tournament. But unless we can do both in the same season CCNY will always be able to hold that over our heads so let's quit now. We can only fantasize about reaching that level of success.
  5. I appreciate Coach G letting us know what the returnee roster looks like 😉
  6. Manhattan’s job posting for a third assistant a few days ago listed $65k to $70k. The latest data I’ve seen for Canisius, which was before Reggie was hired there, has Manhattan’s HC salary double Barons. It’s likely Cage was making around $50k at Canisius. It’s a rough situation at Canisius. https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/view/3rd-assistant-men-s-basketball-coach-at-manhattan-college-3570036906
  7. They played a 6 player rotation much of the second half of the season. Lack of size and depth were huge issues
  8. I'm hoping Boals takes a new job this offseason. He deserves it, and so does the Ohio University Bobcats and some of their more vocal fans (not the one on here though, he's okay 😉).
  9. We haven't had this level of drama about a less popular (ie not MBB or Football) since there were burner accounts on Bull Run about a volleyball hire. Let me have my fun in the offseason 😆 That being said, based on what I've seen for the two commitments I'm not too excited yet given that Ohio is adding a ton of top recruits, but recruit rankings aren't necessarily what shines on the court.
  10. I don’t know…it looks pretty awful from a UB fan perspective too. FLJ leaves, half the team goes in the portal. BB comes in and 90% of the remaining team leaves, is asked to leave, etc. Okay fine, that’s the state of college athletics now, sucks but what can you do. During the season one coach mysteriously disappears. Then a player leaves the team. Then another assistant leaves. Bulls finish the season running a one deep bench, partially due to an injury, and pull a volleyball player in to add depth. After the season ends, the DOBO gets promoted to assistant and the one remaining assistant leaves. Things start to look fishy… The player that left posted on Instagram “Nobody wants to cry in an environment that punishes you for showing emotion.” This is only a few years after we received national attention for Hanna Hall and her positive recovery from mental health issues through UB basketball. And now the mess of 5 players wanting out of their NLI, their names being scrubbed from the NLI announcement. Of the few remaining players eligible to return, at least 2 are in the portal or left the team. Players and coaches that have left the team have posted the following messages on social media: “Players will forget what we taught them but they will never forget how we made them feel.” “What goes around comes around… #treatpeoplewithkindness” Any of these by themselves don’t really make it seem too bad, but you combine this with the Ball State handshake incident, the turnover from BB’s old teams, it starts to paint a picture that doesn’t look too good for Burke or how she runs a program. I would love to be told I’m off base and be disproven but with no horse in the race except success of the program, it looks awful right now.
  11. Yeah, I can't access it either. I hope it isn't lost forever. @admin any ideas?
  12. According to The Buffalo News, Foust has a job lined up but it has not been announced. My guess is they will find a spot for with the constant inflow and outflow of portal players
  13. Maybe another podcast episode? We got Alnutt’s side of the MBB search yesterday
  14. This could have been part of it. https://www.syracuse.com/orangebasketball/2019/05/how-occ-scored-a-tournament-site-for-the-basketball-tournament-boeheims-army.html Though this article is a few years old, $3,500 might be cheaper than it costs to run a full day event at Alumni Arena. Figure 4-6 ticket scanners, a couple people at the team shop, concessions, 20 security or so, plus the non-labor costs. Of course there's revenue that will come in and it looks good for UB to host something like this. Before I read that article I was thinking UB would want $5k per day at the very least. And that might be low looking at other schools. Similar rates: $3,000 per day at Hartford Community College (MD) https://www.harfordevents.com/p/rental-info/rental-rates $5,000 per day (+10% of tickets) Chattanoga https://www.utc.edu/finance-and-administration/mckenzie-arena/rental-information $315/hour + direct costs Wyoming https://gowyo.com/facilities/facility-rentals/12 $10,000 per day Michigan https://facilityrentals.ath.umich.edu/index.php/non-premium-rentals/ $47,500 per day at SDSU, $25,000 at USD https://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/sports/high-school-preps/sd-sp-preps-basketball-ucsd-rimac-20190218-story.html
  15. I don’t have the patience to read all that but I really don’t think UB lets Alumni Arena sit “empty”. There’s UB events there all the time. Could they have used another event? Sure.
  16. We don’t know the reasoning behind not holding it at AA though. If TBT wanted a bigger chunk of the pie that would push it to be unfeasible at UB, I’m fine giving it up. That being said I wish it was at AA

  18. He's supporting Binghamton now, apparently.
  19. Location. Since UB went D1, no G5 north of the Mason-Dixon has been offered, accepted, and played a football game in a P5 conference. The southeast is filled with D1 schools that can play musical chairs. It doesn't make sense for UB to lose the location advantage (cost, fan experience of going to away games) and jump out of the MAC into one of those conferences. I hate being in a conference that has a bunch of failing glorified community colleges, but right now it's the only thing we can do. In the future we can hope the ACC falls apart, which will probably leave the northeast schools left out of the SEC/Big Ten. If they raid the AAC or other conferences we want to be at the top of the list with schools like Temple, even UMass. If they look south (App State, Georgia Southern, ECU, etc) like the AAC is doing, we get left out. We aren't getting there with our current stadium though.
  20. It would be a negative for us to join CUSA. Sure FAU’s run is giving them some additional money but the geography is awful. Most people know which state our schools are in. The future CUSA not so much.
  21. The AD was at the Nan Harvey natatorium watching UB softball during the event
  22. Two things missing last season was depth (6 player rotation) and size when Salmons left. Looks like we should be getting both
  23. Good to see this from one of the basketball teams
