  1. Agreed. Unfortunately the industry is going in a different direction. Teams will be traveling to/from Piscataway to Pasadena in the same conference soon.
  2. Nah SU doesn't want to play us. Same reason it took so long to play us in MBB. FLJ was begging SU to play us in WBB and got a closed scrimmage. It's a lose-lose for them. Win and you're supposed to win. Lose and you embarrass yourself. I'm of the mindset you play the games anyway, which is why I like keeping Niagara and Canisius on our basketball schedules.
  3. UB women have done this same thing during intros. I'm not as close to the bench during men's games but I wouldn't be surprised if they did it too.
  4. No, they're battling for seeding. 5 of their top 6 players in MP this season started. Don't know why Jocelyn Tate isn't playing this game (4th in points scored this season), but otherwise they're playing their normal players.
  5. That was awful. I think one was a ref injury but still terrible.
  6. Danny white is taking suggestions for next year’s tailgate concert series. Kool and the Gang has dibs on homecoming!
  7. Seems like some of the best coaches are not great GM's. I don't want to say Becky Burke is a great coach (yet) but it seems like the roster management side of things are a mess. Oats had no problem suspending Bearden for weed, but it might have been harder for him to want to do on the big stage with championships and money on the line. FLJ ran a tight ship and knows the X's and O's. I don't think it was ever made public why she suspended Fair for a game, but that's showing that you don't fuck around.
  8. Try not to get too disappointed holding an opponent to under 40 points for the first time since 1979.
  9. Top in the MAC like the article says. P5's start around $80 million. Other schools close by in revenue: 64 New Mexico $44,881,065 65 North Texas $44,477,324 66 Utah State $43,157,838 67 Charlotte $41,261,880 68 FIU $41,043,885 69 Buffalo $40,192,255 70 Marshall $39,338,519 71 FAU $39,201,524 72 Western Michigan $39,162,014 73 South Alabama $39,119,983 74 San Jose State $39,030,222
  10. The only other FBS school that has a track is Eastern Michigan. FBS schools that used to have a track or have a track that is not in use are Nevada, Duke, Boise State, Kansas. I haven't been to all of those stadiums, but the ones I have (Eastern Michigan, Duke, Boise State, Kansas - not for a game) either have made renovations to improve the sight lines since removing the track (Duke) or have better sight lines than UB to begin with (the others). From a spot in the stands at UB, you can not only see the track, but you can see EVERY LANE of the track. At EMU, the stands are much closer to the field than at UB and they are also higher up from the field than UB's are. Removing the track does nothing to improve the sightlines, but does acknowledge that we're one of the last FBS schools to finally remove it and shows that there is some investment in the general attendee's experience. Right now the track and the video board tell the typical person that UB is not invested in people watching football at UB Stadium. You could probably get a better look at a replay on your Apple Watch than our video board. I understand that UConn and UMass are not blockbuster games, but I would prefer regional games where the opposing fanbase can drive to in a weekend than playing OOC opponents that make less sense from a fan perspective (Coastal, Louisiana, etc). I think our FCS games should always be an in-state opponent rather than a HBCU from a few states away (unless they bring their band). I agree with a lot of what you say though. It's embarrassing that UB is in an athletics conference with schools that are not competitive. Our 25th percentile SAT score is the same as EMU and NIU's 75th percentile SAT score, and within 30 points of a whole list of other "peers'" 75th (Kent State, Akron, Ball State, BG).
  11. CJ Massinburg wins the Italian Basketball Cup as a member of Pallacanestro Brescia. It is the highest pro league in Italy. CJ had 9 points and 2 rebounds in 17 minutes in the championship game.
  12. maybe a cactus since it's a desert bar
  13. So the form to fill in had a dropdown that had you select the number of guests. The dropdown had 0, 1, 2, 3, 4. The email said up to 3 guests. I put down two guests for my significant other and myself, since I didn't know if I should have selected 1 (why is there an option for 4?) or 2 (why is there an option for 0?). We got a bottle of water each. Arrived at 5:20. If we knew that was going to happen we would have ate before we left. I don't want to sound ungrateful but it was disappointing. Our decision to keep season tickets isn't going to depend on getting a few slices of shitty pizza, but overall the alumni arena experience has gone downhill over the years. When I was a student, the only game I remember not getting wifi was the final Hurley game against BG. Last year at a doubleheader we were told that we had to sit in our men's seats for the women's game. And my complaint earlier this season about not allowing outside food at a doubleheader. Seems like the signs that have gone up that now have that as a policy. Maybe the athletics department ordered more pizza but security turned the delivery guy away for trying to bring in outside food. At least UB accepts credit cards at concessions, unlike one of our Big 4 "peers" Ironically, AA is the opposite of UB Stadium in a lot of ways. AA from a viewing perspective (sight lines, seats, video board) is a great venue but lacks amenities. UB Stadium is better than many MAC peers in amenities (apparel shop in stadium, occasionally a food truck, large bathrooms, good cell service) but lacks in the viewing experience.
  14. I saw that from the 200's. Guy was arguing with a EMU trainer or coach too
  15. We sold our ODU return game for the Ohio State game that didn't happen in 2020. 2015 - Scheduled @ODU 2019 and @UB 2020 2018 - Changed to @ODU 2021 and @ODU 2023 to accommodate UB at OSU 2021 - we play @ODU and beat them 2023 - ODU drops return game, UB sets up home and home with UL We essentially gave ODU our home game for the 2020 OSU game that didn't happen. They actually helped us out because we were supposed to have two home games there, and they only "charged" us for one. Then we set up a home and home with UL.
  16. I don't know if Kent State playing poorly against NIU tonight is encouraging for us or not, but it is a thing.
  17. Just a small correction, there is one, but it's about as relevant as St. Bonaventure's Final Four or NIT Championship. For better or for worse, Buffalo is a Bills-obsessed city. Even when the team was bad. BSF can say that nobody likes a loser, but to Brook's point when the Bills were awful they still had a huge amount of support. We all know people where their entire identity is the Buffalo Bills. IMO I think the Sabres have a little bit of that, but so many fans have had enough with the past decade of play and the rotation of coaches that the "nobody likes a loser" might be coming true there. There's individual games where there's some turnout, but overall attendance and fan engagement is way down. That's why I generally shut my mouth when it comes to pro sports here. Maybe I should have shut it instead of posting this. Oh well.
  18. Next time you’re at UB Stadium and in the stands, take a seat in the grey seats that are bolted to the bleachers. Not the black seats that are part of the G Club, the grey ones that surround those. Anything is an upgrade.
  19. Yes, please. Current chairback seats are worse than bleachers. I like bleachers too.
