  1. San Francisco really hasn't played anyone in those 7 games, except maybe Harvard, remotely worth gushing about. They do have very good guard play it appears, but, can they keep up with the tempo we play at for 40 minutes? Have their guards really been tested at all this season? I just see our batch of guards being too much for them. It could be a close game at some points, but we should be taking the W here.
  2. CJ has got to be the best guard in UB history, the kid shows up in big games, is so well-rounded, and plays hard on both sides of the ball. Much respect for the great guards in the past, but, I fail to see any other player that has topped the kind of career CJ has had up until this point.
  3. https://www.ncaa.com/news/basketball-men/article/2018-11-26/college-basketball-gonzaga-leaps-kansas-duke-unc-fall-power Last week the Bulls were at #15, thus, we moved up one spot with the wins over Dartmouth and Marist. Good to see us getting continuous love by the national media.
  4. Even with Stockard in the lineup, they are still going to struggle mightily. LaDarien Griffin is their leader and a guy who they depend on to take command on both sides of the ball. Griffin apparently to return in early December, so, we may see him back. And honestly, I want the Bonnies as healthy as possible so those rotten fans of theirs don't have any excuses to make.
  5. Except, I never insinuated that no other programs have done what UB is doing. In fact, comparing it to what Gonzaga and Butler have done. Stop being so dense.
  6. Jordan's dunk may be dunk of the year. That was so powerful and we rarely see dunking from him.
  7. 1. Great Coaching (Mark Few) 2. Constant success in a mid major conference, Yes, it is a mid major conference, do not stray away from that. That constant success that lead to them building a fan base and into a national powerhouse (with a 6,000 seating capacity that didn't require to expand the seating capacity) 3. Ability to recruit players. 4. The university's commitment to basketball. That's to just name a few. Let this stick in your head...... 20 years ago, Gonzaga was a nobody, tiny mid-major team. Until Dan Monson found success with them and then they hired Mark Few and the rest is history with that team. I'm not saying the MAC is on the same level as the WCC, in fact, it's much worse. However, the WCC, IS STILL A MID MAJOR CONFERENCE......a conference in which UB can probably beat every single team in, perhaps except Gonzaga, sort of like UB can do in the MAC. Nobody cares Gonzaga is in a shit tier conference, Gonzaga beats really good teams every year, and that is something UB can do in the future on a consistent basis. But for you to take the easy route and say, oh well, obviously people around here aren't going to care that much, since they play in the MAC, what a weak take. This is Bills and Sabres country, an area with NO college sports atmosphere. UB finds true success in the last 5 years or so, and you expect Bills and Sabres country to just jump all-in and fill the stands? Not going to happen. It's going to take a while, a long while.. Nate Oats is already headed into that same direction as Butler or Gonzaga and is showing that he can contend with good teams. UB has to win, and win a lot. Pretty soon, WNY is going to notice, and they're going to fill that so-called "high school gym looking arena". It's going to take a long time for the community to catch up. And all of that has nothing to do with what conference they play in and what arena they play in. Gonzaga has already proved that, with winning, and winning a lot year after year. And that's just what UB has to do. Can Nate Oats take us there? I guess we will find out. Sorry for the cluster from my stance. I think the blame of the arena and conference excuses is a weak cop out, and those are not the reasons from a lack of community support.
  8. Now THIS is how you close away a lesser team. Great win. Onto Marist!
  9. Yes, but a lot those stats stem from playing two division-3 opponents.
  10. Does Gonzaga winning the WCC every year impress fans? Or is their ability to beat really good out of conference opponents and win numerous games in the NCAA tournament do the trick?
  11. AAC would be nice. Not sure how long it would take to move to a better conference. For example, when Butler started to become consistently good, starting in 1996, 4 coaching changes, including Brad Stevens (now head coach of the Boston Celtics), whom led them to 2 national championship games in 2010-2011, found themselves in the A-10 for one year in 2012-2013, and then moved to the Big East in the 2013-2014 season. All of that was a span of 17 years for Butler to move from the Horizon League to the Big East.
  12. Are individual tickets being sold in the 100 levels yet? Or is the ticket office still holding out for season tickets?
  13. Because it's an easy excuse to blame for the lack of attendance.
  14. Yep, sections 117-121 and the 300 levels are the only single seat tickets being sold. What a mess.
  15. I just called the ticket office and sections 111-116 are all still being reserved for season ticket holders. That is absolutely unacceptable. Same rows I sat in game 1 last year against Canisius and now they're holding out for them? Yikes...
  16. I'm just going to go ahead and repeat myself on what I said on another forum. "If they keep winning, more and more people will show up. You have to keep in mind, there is no college sports culture here, at all. This is Bills and Sabres country. UB has to keep winning and winning for people to show up and to build culture. UB didn't start being remotely competitive at basketball until, what, 15 years ago? That's nothing. This is such a young program. It's just going to take time." Some of you folks just are not understanding. Western New York has no college sports culture. None. It never has. For UB to get butts in the seats, they have to win, and they have to win often and every year for more and more people to show up. It doesn't have anything to do with what the arena looks like. In fact, the arena looks pretty darn good for the most part. A school with 20,000+ undergrads can't even fill that tiny little student section. Why? No college sports culture. You can build the nicest arena possible on campus with 12,000+ seats, and people aren't going to show up. Why? Because, again, this is Bills and Sabres country. WNY has never had a consistent major college sport like football and basketball. Some people may refute with what I am saying, but, it's the truth. This UB men's team the last 4-5 years or so is the most consistent success of any major college sport in WNY history.
  17. Purdue and Virginia Tech squaring off right now, if Purdue loses, they drop out of the top 25 most likely.
  18. So, Marquette losing Wednesday night and Syracuse losing tonight, that's 2 top 25 teams moving down and possibly us moving up. I am really not impressed by Syracuse, at all. They are shooting much worse than us. They do not move the ball well, and have very little fight inside the paint. And they really have zero bench help. If you ask me, 'Cuse right now looks way worse than last season. But, it is a little early to tell. Tonight's match up against UCONN was a bit of an even match up coming in, but, UCONN was by far the better team. Marquette last night, same thing. They just got rag dolled by a real good Indiana team. And just looking at how they play on both sides of the ball, UB can definitely keep up with them. Both of these teams just aren't very deep down the roster. At most 7 guys deep on each team. Meanwhile, we're getting production our of at least 9 players. We're about a month away from these two games and I am excited as heck for them. If we can split one of these games, our odds of an at-large bid become even greater.
  19. Marquette losing last night will help keep us in the top 25. Watching Marquette last night, they really are nothing special to look at.
  20. If they keep winning, more and more people will show up. You have to keep in mind, there is no college sports culture here, at all. This is Bills and Sabres country. UB has to keep winning and winning for people to show up and to build culture. UB didn't start being remotely competitive at basketball until, what, 15 years ago? That's nothing. This is such a young program. It's just going to take time.
  21. Correct. Basketball signing day is today, football is in December.
  22. Sad to say but, we are probably not going to get much out of Brock Bertram. In his third year and he just hasn't developed, at all. Foot work is pretty lackluster, just seems lost out there at times. Getting forwards of his size is often times a crap shoot because you just don't know what you're getting. He has the size, but he just doesn't have the athletic ability to stay on the floor. We need forward depth bad, especially with Perkins and McRae leaving.
  23. Stay hungry, stay humble, and do not get complacent.
