Very familiar. And yes I think if Hogdson isn’t the coach then why would he stay here. But we don’t know what kind of pressure Alabama’s AD has already put on Nate. Down there boosters run the program...they may not like Hodgson. They may have someone in their pockets they want in. It’s a whole other league there. We will see how it all shakes out.

Fair point but allow me to counter with this... Maybe Alabama’s AD would want a more experienced staff around Nate bc Nate is inexperienced at in terms of SEC play? Who knows where Hodgson fits in there if he even does.

I agree Alnutt has to move quickly. I said that in the recruiting thread. But we have to explore all options both internal and external.

What bearing does Alabama have on us paying and hiring whoever we hire? None. A first time head coach in the MAC will probably end up being the lowest paid coach in the conference. Around 300k with bonuses.

I assume a first time coach like Hodgson would be real cheap.

The SEC is a tough conference. Alabama will never top Kentucky. I think Oats will do well but it all depends on their adaministrations expectations. Being the 2nd or 3rd best team in the conference and making it to the NCAAs might not be enough. Major college basketball is a whole other league. Would we say that Hurley is doing well? I say he has underachieved. So can you imagine the shorter leash Nate is gonna have. He now has to win, win quickly and often. There’s no room for down years. Just ask Avery Johnson.

What if you are a guy like Tim Miles...looking for a rebound job after being fired. Come to UB build back up your profile then move on in 3-5 years. Not endorsing Miles just saying hypothetically.

Alnutt said that we are now an attractive mid major program when it comes to coaches want to coach here. We will see how attractive we are. Does that mean we are no longer a school that needs to hire a first time head coach? Can we bring in a well know name? We will all see. At this point without knowing who is a candidate (internal or outsider) I can’t endorse one or the other.

We talking about Nate or Hogdson? Nate is the coach and brand that Hogdson goes out to sell to recruits. In season it’s hard for a coach to recruit therefore he has his recruiting arm Hogdson hit the trail. But Nate is the closer when it comes time. Hence on campus visits or in house visits. And I’m sure as coach Nate has a hand in recruiting. Especially in the off season.

The die hards will keep this thing going. A setback is a setup for a comeback.

He’s paid to coach and by extension recruit. That extension is Hogdson. Who does the dirty work on the recruiting trail on behalf of coach. Coach is the closer.

Guess he needs a new haircut too. Ugh!
