  1. I am aware. And this speaks to my point about Oats waiting. Wisconsin won't be open now but could be in 4-6 years when say Gard (48yo) himself elevates to a better job or gets fired because let's face it P5 schools lack patience. Also Bronstein's tweets indicate that Nate is here to stay a little while longer. Both sides to me seem very committed to one another. I love their relationship. Lets get it done.
  2. Give me Akron, CMU then Toledo. Its the toughest road but those are the 3 highest NET opponents we can face. Beating those 3 should get us a 5 seed. At least.
  3. Depth will not be an issue. The future is bright next season and beyond. The key is off season growth and development from the returning players and integration from the transfers and JUCOs. It will be very interesting to see the lineup combos and rotation next year. I expect a slow start but by late February into March next year we could be right there for the MAC tournament.
  4. @Kevin I totally agree. On paper if we accomplish all that we should be a 4. But what sucks is I don't think the committee will reward us that high. I think we will get as high as a 5. Hopefully. Can't see any lower than a 7 if we stumble in the MAC tourney.
  5. One of many honors coming. Nick will also be MAC 6th Man of the Year. CJ should be Player of the Year in the MAC. And Oats should be Coach of the Year in the MAC.
  6. I agree with this and will take it a step further...by building a dynasty at Buffalo (Buffalo!) Oats can build his own resume and control his future even more. He can be able to bypass jumping from job to job and just make one big jump. I'm not saying he can go to Duke but lets say...what if his dream job is Wisconsin. Rather than jumping to Nebraska to get to Wisconsin he can stay at UB build here then jump straight to Wisconsin. And if money is the motivator...lets say he stays here and builds up to a salary around 1.1 million...at his next job he can command up to double that if not more.
  7. People keep talking about about money for Oats in the range of 1.2 to 1.5 million. Especially from a P5 institution. If he already makes 600k the difference is from 600k to 1.2 is 600k. So really the question is will Oats walk away for 600k? Furthermore if we give him a raise of 200k or 300k bringing his total to 800-900k then the question is will he walk away for for that extra 300-400k? I’m not saying it’s chunp change, but is that enough to make Nate bounce. And leave everything he’s built here on and off the court. Enough to bounce and take a great recruiting class with him? I think the addition of Williams and potential Hawkings make staying a more compelling option and becoming the Gonzaga of the East.
  8. Agree with you there. But for the short term and time being we shouldn’t let anything hold us back from doing us and owning the Mac conference.
  9. So what? That’s their problem to deal with. Why should we constraint ourself to please them? Unless there’s some hard rule to me it’s foolish to not pay our coach bc it will “piss off other ADs.” Results speak and right now Oats is delivering results.
  10. I’m stunned but I shouldn’t be. What PG wouldn’t want to play in our system and for Oats. This gives us great depth at point guard beyond next season. Tremendous get this late in recruiting. We all know what the cherry on top to this recruiting class will be. But for now it’s a strong class. And we still have senior leadership next year with Jordan, Grant and Johnson. The future next year and beyond looks brighter each day. Welcome Noah.
  11. https://www.instagram.com/p/BuxlyecnoHe/?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet According to UB Athletics total attendance was 100,806. I believe that’s for both men’s and women’s.
  12. SUNY on SUNY crime there with Binghamton over Stony Brook. There’s only one New York powerhouse 😉. And that be us...Go Bulls!
  13. 😭😭😭 thank you seniors. Still some games to play let’s disturb the peace and make some noise.
  14. UB is a basketball school. But football will always lead the way. Bc football is where the money is. So if it doesn’t make sense for football isn’t doesn’t make sense for the school. Which is why we have to table talks about conference realignment. And open talks about the things that could keep Oats here. Things like raises for him and the staff. New practice facility. Things that provide stability and growth of a program. We make these upgrades we can make it enticing to keep Nate and bring in recruits and keep winning. All the while hopefully the football team continues their rise and wins the conference and bowl games and bring in dollars. Only when the stars align for football will things come to a head. But until then we have to do everything to keep the recent success of our football and basketball programs going. That all said we are closer to a championship in basketball than we are in football. But we can ever scrap or turn our backs on football. They have to work in concert. See what UCF is doing.
  15. I think it’s important to note that this is the first season the net will be implemented and used in selecting the field of 68. So we will see how the committee applies it. Your guess is as good as mine. And even Oats doesn’t know. But yes he does bang the drum about efficiency. So we will se how things shake if both us and Wofford win our tourneys.
  16. It’s all about perception. To the casual eye yes a blowout will look better than a solid hard fought 8 point road victory. The net caps scoring margin at 10. So a 50 point win counts the same as a 10 point win. And is there really a difference from a 9 point win to a 10 point win. That’s splitting hairs. If the committee does what they are supposed to and that’s watch actual games they will see that our league was tougher top to bottom and we faced more adversity than say a Wofford. https://www.ncaa.com/news/basketball-men/article/2018-08-22/net-rankings-what-know-about-college-basketballs-new-tool
  17. This could be a blessing in disguise. Hear me out...the sooner we get CMU that’s less games we have to play to get the chance to pick up a resume building win. So would you rather play CMU sooner and take our shot or potentially never get the chance to play bc we got knocked out before the final?
  18. VMI. VMI. Their record is 11-21. The SoCon has four teams with winning records. Everyone else was a whipping boy. Very top heavy league. I’m so sick of Wofford and their stylish victories. The MAC is hands down a tougher conference than the SoCon. We’ve won 9 straight games. Won them in several different types of styles/play and fashions. I’ll say we already have momentum. Go Bulls! Yes winning blowouts would be nice. Especially the opening game. That way we can rest starters and get the frosh exposure. But it’s now officially survive and advance time. Just win baby. Winning like we have imo prepares us better for the adversities of tournament play than always winning in blowout fashion. Wofford is a nice mid major story. Probably going to get a 7 seed. But I think they are over rated.
  19. I feel our ceiling is a 5 seed. Floor is 7. Win the MAC and we get a 5. Lose in the championship game get a 6. Anytime before that get a 7.
  20. I think we got the tougher side of the bracket. Akron is really good defensively and if they hit 3s (which they take a ton of) they can keep it close. Miami is solid defensively too and has played us tough. CMU may be the hottest team besides us and Toledo right now. Kent is Kent. We are gonna earn this championship.
  21. Magical night at Alumni. I’m not gonna recap it given we witnessed it but I will say this...we have a tough draw next week. Winner of Akron/Miami, CMU/Kent on our side. Lets enjoy tonight. Rest and practice and get ready for real March basketball.
  22. I think every AD has a short list they keep close to the vest of guys they might target or reach out to. Whether it be an outsider or someone currently on the staff. If they don’t have this list then they are incompetent, especially when the current coach could be sough after.
  23. It’s all speculation until a certain point. And where there’s smoke there fire. I’m not pulling it out of my butt in saying that we will likely be rumored for jobs and interviewed. It’s going to happen. But I do agree based on what he’s said he is interested in building both on the court and in his personal family life. And I do agree about the incoming recruits. That’s incentive to stay also. Which all brings me back to my original point...he isn’t going to leave for a bottom job at a P5 conference. He doesn’t have to leave right now. The community and us fans/alumni have supported and now it’s time for administration to keep supporting and growing and investing in Nate and this program. Heck both basketball programs.
