Agree with @Bluebird96. This is a game in which we show if we can grow from one game to the next. We should win this game. Kinda have to win this game with the schedule we have coming up. If we do little things right, I expect a win. But can’t leave over 10 points on the floor at the line. Especially if we aren’t gonna make 3s. Which we really aren’t that great at.

The whole situation is weird to me. Was Bates that over rated of a recruit that he can’t even selfishly carry EMU? I start to wonder…how long before he flat quits on the team?

If they shoot like they did against us, they’ll win. So I agree with taking the points.

Miami has made some wild shots tonight. That aside we left too many points at the FT line. Pathetic that we can’t hit free throws. I’m not knocking the effort but sometimes we need to slow down. We get too wild and out of control. Not discouraged by our performance but moving forward we can’t play like this and expect to beat the teams in the top of conference.

A TCB kinda win. Good to see them string two games back to back and not let winning go to their heads. 2-0 to start conference play, we’d all sign up for that. Team is trending upwards. Now let’s see how they handle life on the road.

Good team basketball. The ball movement and extra pass has been great today. Still have the wildness and turnovers but it’s coming from a place of unselfishness. I think this team’s identity will be one where they don’t depend on any one player to carry them but the low key offensive leader is Curtis Jones.

I’m not comparing skill sets. I’m simple saying the growth and development equaling domination. Hardnett is what 21/22? His maturity both IQ and physically is what you hope and expect from a senior. My point is…this is what you would want from a 4 year player. Except in todays CBB players portal like Skogman. And we could hope to see Jack for 4 years, but probably not?

His growth is what you expect of a player who stays in college for 4 years. And stays in a system also. Good health doesn’t hurt either. Imagine if we see Jack stay for 3-4 years! Much like we hoped Skogman would stay.

Game of runs. Fortunately we did just enough to win. Barely. Don’t know if it was just bad Ohio play or really good defense. Hardnett with a monster game. Great win to start conference play though. Ugly at times, nice at times but that’s us right now. Lots of areas to improve on, free throws being one but take the win and run. Gotta keep learning to close out games.

This is mad random but remember Ikenna Smart? Didn’t he play in like the most games at UB? Then transferred to Wake. He’s currently a video coordinator for the Blazers.

I really wish we could’ve seen a healthy Fagan during his tenure here. Thats it. That’s the post. Lol

That was a herbal statement. Not a New York specific statement. Forget trying to get any power conference school to come here.

Again…UB getting too greedy. Just be the buy game and travel down state. Stop requesting a home and home. Just play the road game. Sometimes a school needs to know where it stands in the landscape. Take the money, maybe pull an upset and then the following year use the money for a better MTE or use it to buy a good mid major school. Forget trying to get P5 schools to come to Buffalo.

I’ve always said this…we should play NYC area schools more often. We need to both open recruiting pipelines into the city and gain more exposure for our city alumni base. Why not play Fordham. St. John’s. Rutgers. Seton Hall…on the road. I understand the need for home games and the net rankings. And I’m not saying do this formula of mostly road games every year, but every few years take the road paycheck. That way in the next season we can buy a good game to alumni. Just a thought.

That last part is what admin grapples with. Seems like they rather play a non D1 school at home in front of a dead atmosphere than be a buy game on the road. I also do understand that non D1 games don’t hurt the net rankings but in all honesty, when we are where we are…who cares about a net ranking.

Closing out halves rears its ugly head. Overall we are in this game. WVU making 3s.

One could dream. That’s the traditional way of building a mid major. But as we have seen…the bright lights of the portal come calling.

Maybe I should have said basketball only arena (well you can still use it for wrestling and volleyball). We’ve given alumni some cosmetic surgery over the years but we should have a better facility.

Lol we always complain. Even when we win lol. But hey back in another bowl game…so really the football program hasn’t fallen off. With room to grow. So solid job being done. Especially navigating the portal. Hopefully next year we take another step forward and get to the Mac title game. Winning the conference/bigger bowl is the main goal and the floor is getting to a bowl game.

Schmidt’s value may have dipped slightly but only slightly. I wonder why he hasn’t bolted to this point. He has had opportunities. But bringing it back to UB…we have to know our place in the world. As things stand we are a stepping stone school. So we should take pride in that. Bc that for two coaches brought us MAC titles and tournament appearances. An on campus basketball arena would go a long way also.
