Please no Mballa 3s. Please no lol. As to your point about Ali. Yes it seems like an outlier. But against Toledo, twice, the FT disparity was killer. Begs the question, is it an outlier or something in the system or attack that got him to the line? Toledo in 2 games got to the line a ton. Perhaps Akron has the same formula. Just something to watch for. Also yea a disparity that large is difficult to overcome, hence why it can’t happen. We need to defend without fouling.

Winning mac titles. Sorry for the dick response. But I think winning 20 games is a poor goal to shoot for and a poor measure of how successful a program is. Especially in a day and age when we can’t even fill a full schedule with D1 opponents. End of the week is this season gonna be remembered for losses to Canisius/Bona/SFA so on? Or will it be remembered by what happens in Cleveland? If we win in Cleveland will anyone care that we lost to local rivals? Going forward measure the program by, is it perennially a contender to win a mac title in its “down” years and does it win a title(s) in its “good” year(s).

The sad part is that we all say “if”. If we play this way. If this player does this. After all these years with the same core players under the same system I don’t wanna hear “if” anymore. Time to do!

Winning this game hinges on defending without fouling, rebounding and being mentally “up” for what basically is a road afternoon game. While there should be no reason to be sleepy, given the stakes, this team is known for mental lapses. I looked over the stats from our lone meeting against Akron and two things stood out. We were out rebounded. Now Mballa didn’t play but even with Mballa in our last two losses, rebounding was an issue. A mentally engaged Mballa is key. Hence my first point about being up for this game. The second issue was the FT disparity. They were 30-40. We were 9-17. Ali Ali himself was 16-22. Us shooting this poorly, them getting that many attempts and Ali going to the line that much cannot happen again. This is a winnable game. A game dare I say we should win. But this team struggles to do what it should. That’s my scouting report. Go Bulls!

They should have just gone by win percentage. I don’t think anyone understood why the sudden change. Had that been the known rule perhaps there would’ve been a better effort to reschedule games.

Slow down Ali Ali. He single handedly won them the game against us earlier this year. Castaneda has been playing well also. And we need a good rebounding effort bc Freeman can rebound despite his height. Very winnable game. It’s not about fear, it’s about our confidence in this team 😞

Mballa is a big key. An engaged Mballa anchors our defense and rebounding. Two things we will need against Akron. Keep in mind he didn’t play against them earlier this year.

One could def argue that. But if it is Kent, they would be on a what 14 game win streak? I’ll put it this way…if we get to see Ohio or Kent I’d jumping for joy.

Yep. End of the day this UB team put themselves in the position they are in. This is either gonna be the greatest run to a Mac title or a sad end to an underachieving era of UB basketball.
