  1. A very good if not great game in many aspects. Looking like Mballa playing with both energy and confidence. Jones playing better from game to game along with Jack continuing to play with more energy and if we continue to get consistent play from Segu and Williams we should be right there in Cleveland. Love the rebounding energy along with our shooting and free throw percentages. Only concern is the continued erratic play of Brewton who really does seem to be forcing all his shots but I do think the effort is there. Four wins in a row and hope for another big win against EMU before returning home for our Saturday doubleheader. Go Bulls!!!
  2. A tough loss against a good NIU team with two very good players Davis and Poisson who gave us fits when they played us earlier. Another bad shooting game by Fair and close to Woolley’s worst shooting days. Along with only nine assists and only getting to the line 11 times can result in a loss. Tough to win when your two best players shoot 6-23 from 3’s but we fought and maybe ran out of gas in overtime. On to to next tough game against Ball State on the road and hope to atone for the loss at home when the Ball State coach went crazy and spastic on the officials the whole game that resulted in two no calls at the end of the game. Will the MAC and the officials put up with the same behavior from this coaching staff? Go Bulls!!!
  3. It was a good win regardless of the opponent we were playing, It was one of the more exciting games and great when we come out on the winning side. In spite of more poor shooting by Jack and Brewton they came together at the end especially on the defensive end. We definitely played Sparks better in the 2nd half fronting and double teaming him to prevent easy shots. We just hit the big shots in the last few minutes and hit some free throws that resulted in the win. I still do not understand the playing time Brewton is getting but a win is a win. I thought Ball State would be a tough game after they beat Toledo and losing in overtime to CMU after they tied the game on a 3 with six seconds to go. On to the next game and Go Bulls!!!!
  4. If FLJ gets offered double/triple her salary and if she thinks she can take some of her star players with her and being her alma mater and especially with Syracuse graduating and least six players how can she turn it down?? Go Bulls!!!
  5. I will get off this rant but I guess really not knowing what is going on at UCONN here is my two cents. UCONN beat DePaul by 26 and DeBarry played one minute!! What a waste of a talented player and a wasted opportunity for our local fans to see a local player play at home. Both the Parker women are playing major minutes at Niagara and also another local player at Canisius and more local girls have signed locally for next year. Will be here the rest of the year in my total support for our UB teams and let the chips fall where they will on any of our local girls that decide to sign out of state. Go Bulls!!!
  6. Agree. Any win will do at this time of the season. The key will be can we have something close to our last two games and get contributions from all our players and I mean all our players. Can Jack and Mballa give us the same kind of effort and energy??
  7. Good information but in so many instances as they say that is why you have to play the game. What team gets hot, or can overcome hostile crowds or officials that can control the outcome by bad calls. Go Bulls!!!
  8. So crazy how the recruiting process must be for these players and how the coaches try and sell their program to these young players. Who do these girls listen to when making a decision that really affects their entire college experience. It must be such a roller coaster for the and how can they be truly objective if they only listen to coaches that are selling their school?? I would think that is why so many players decide to change schools during their college careers. Their are probably 100’s or more that end up at other schools to not only get their degrees but to play a game they love and truly want to play and not sit on the bench their denture career. Go Bulls!!
  9. Will be another good test for us to see if we can play with the same intensity and energy. Ball State has four players averaging from 15 to 11 points with two players at 6’9 and 6’8. Their last two games they beat Toledo and lost to Central Michigan. The Central game was a heartbreaker as they gave up a 3 pointer with six seconds to go to tie then lost in overtime. From their comments after the game their players know they can play better and are determined to beat UB. Hope we have our game faces on and see a big enthusiastic crowd. Go Bulls!!!
  10. Another test for us on the road and depending on the game situation how will Coach Jack distribute playing time now with more players available?? NIU is 9th in conference at 6-7 in conference. They have beaten Ohio, Akron and Kent State. They have a seasoned team with many junior/seniors. They have decent size on the front line with a player named Davis who is averaging 15 points and 11 rebounds. Not sure what happened to their top scorer Koker who was averaging 17 a game but after the first 16 games has not been in the lineup?? We beat NIU here 68-61 so do not think we will take them lightly. Go Bulls!!!
  11. Do agree it does seem in this day and age of basketball coaches leave/get fired sometimes after only a few years and players with the transfer portal and just leaving because of other reasons there is no stability. On another note with UCONN’s loss in conference last night and more injuries and absences our local player DeBarry again did not even get into the game!! I keep wondering if she will want out of UCONN and fantasizing how she would of been in a program like UB. We can always hope that with Summer graduating maybe DeBarry would want to come home to play. Go Bulls!!!
  12. Yes I would agree. I didn’t mention players because of what that would do to the roster. I would think Fair and Woolley would go but not sure of any other player. Especially with Syracuse losing over half of their roster would Jack want to bring in more of her players that are familiar with her style?? But again the ACC does play a different style of play with many more talented and athletic type players!! As stated before we have to enjoy this team and don’t plan on missing another game to especially see two talented players like Fair and Woolley along with some of the other players. I mention Camp also who has become a more rounded player since she has become more involved in the offensive strategy. Go Bulls!!!!
  13. Do agree. Hope against hope but with how bad Syracuse is this year with losing record overall and terrible in conference together with losing around six seniors it looks like a total rebuild for them from coach to entire roster. If Jack goes the big question will be I can she recruit some top players with more than her name recognition. Go Bulls!!
  14. Yes it was a good win on many fronts. Even though EMU overall is not a good team they always play an uptempo game and have many players with very good quickness and athleticism. The first half was a struggle for us handling their quickness on both ends of the floor. We were only up one point until the last minute when Fair I think hit two three’s and the last one almost from half court. Overall UB did not have the quickness down low in Gaba, Wilson and Christie and struggled on both ends of the floor. UB really adapted in the 2nd half and both Hemphill and Woolley were much better on the boards as EMU started to miss shots. Woolley continues to be a force offensively but where she continues to improve is on the defensive end with her anticipation resulting in many steals and shows high basketball IQ that in many cases can’t be taught. Fair was sensational with her shot selection and looked like many of her games last year especially on her three’s. It will be fascinating to see how Coach Jack tries to incorporate the players playing time now that we have most of our bench back. The whole key is to not lose the continuity of play and still win games that will become tougher down the stretch.
  15. Hope it is not serious. Encouraged to see Blocker look more in control and made some nice passes and drives to the basket albeit against the reserves and backups of EMU. Go Bulls!!!!
  16. Nice that a lot of the women’s games can be picked up on some channels. Looking forward to a big win tonight against an EMU team that is struggling and only 2-9 in conference. HAVE lost five out of six but most of the games have been close with no big blow outs. They have three good players averaging 18, 12,11 with decent size with all 5’10 -6’0. We will need to continue our rebounding energy and play a good defensive game from start to finish. Hope to see more of Wilson tonight with her rebounding strength. Go Bulls!!!
  17. Do agree with many of the recaps here. The entire team looked like night and day from so many of the previous games. Their energy and quickness especially on the rebounding side not withstanding their offensive flow was outstanding. So glad to see Mballa look like he did in previous years going to the basket and pounding the glass. If they can show the same intensity and continue to play even if they have some adversity it can turn into an exciting end of the year. Do also agree the student support was outstanding and hope to see this kind of support and hope more fans show up also. Go Bulls!!
  18. Hope to see good student turnout. EMU only 8-14 and 3-8 in conference and lost three out of last four. Good size on front line at 6-10 and 7-0. New coach this year in Stan Heath who long ago coached at Bowling Green and one year at Kent State. Also head coach at Arkansas and South Florida and last coached in the NBA G-league. If we can play with some energy and passion especially in front of the home crowd we should come out with a win. They have lost to both Toledo and Ohio by 20 points but unless we play with some purpose and get the crowd involved it could be a long night. Go Bull!!!
  19. Another good win against a quality opponent. Not sure what happened to WMU top scorer and their best big down low who were out for long periods of time. We played a very good last half both on offense and defense with good ball movement and very active on the defense side. The 2nd half was entirely different with too much of Fair not getting other players involved except for Woolley. We were a step slow on the defensive side allowing a lot of back door layups and lucky WMU missed several easy shots. Ball movement will still be the key especially when we play the top teams. Especially in late stages of games see Fair just keeping the ball herself and not getting any player movement from the other players. On a curious and positive note players that were dressed and back from the missing were Gaba, Young and Valenti-Paea??? Not really sure how much playing time any of them will get with so many games being close. Another positive was the band being back and a decent student showing. Hope to see more students tonight and tomorrow’s games. Go Bulls!!!
  20. It does seem like Jones is becoming more comfortable and confident with his shot selection as he gets more playing time. I seen film on Caesar and it looks promising but I seen some of the same film on Blocker but he has a very little playing time and the little I seen of him in some games he has gone 100 miles an hour and does put up shots whenever he gets playing time so just hope with another year under his belt he can contribute. It is interesting when you see film on these kids in high school or Juco and they look like they dominate when they move up to better over all competition you just never know how that will translate. The joy and heartache of basketball and sports. How will Maudig and Williamson be next year?? It could turn into another exciting year. Go Bulls!!!
  21. Should be another good test especially after playing on Saturday. WMU is 6-4 in conference and their last four games they beat Ohio and Akron and lost to Miami and NIU. They have three players averaging 18, 12 and 11. They don’t have as big of a front line that we have been playing lately so hope we can dominate on the boards again and Fair can find her shooting touch from the outside. With home games Monday and Wednesday hope the energy of the fans can give all our players the added boost to preserve thru any fatigue with all the minutes our starters have been playing. Go Bulls!!!
  22. Another recap of Alabama after the loss. They are under 30% on 3’s and will drop to 300 out of 358 teams and they only made 9 of 24 on drives to the basket and Oats said he is not going to change anything. This long into a season and you are hoping shots will start to fall good luck on that strategy. When Oats was here he just had the right nucleus of players that probably performed over their forecasts and good for him and our fans. I realize we have our own problems with players not living up to expectations but that is what is wonderful about basketball that you can’t figure sometimes what will happen in this crazy game. Go Bulls!!
  23. Still don’t like his ball handling but he only had one turnover and two steals. Both Williams and Segu with five assists each. Mballa with another very uneven game with 4/5 turnovers along with Jack and Brewton only combined 2-8 from 3’s again. Just can’t see us winning games against the better teams like Toledo and Ohio but maybe they will prove me wrong. Go Bulls!!!
  24. Alabama 4-6 in conference. Loss to Kentucky and shot 3-30 from 3’s!!! What has the state of basketball become!! No matter how bad a team shoots, just keep shooting. Let’s not try and change the coaching strategy. Players either drive to the basket and take 3’s. Do players even practice jump shots inside the 3 point line?? I realize it is the state of today’s basketball but the Alabama game was downright ugly as far as shooting percentages. Hey maybe we can have a better overall and conference record than Alabama not the in the grand scheme of things that it will matter. Go Bulls!!!
  25. Are we going to see the students and more fans come out???How about running some ticket and concession promotions??This team isn’t the teams we had under Hurley and Oats so is this administration going to earn their paychecks by promoting both the men and women?? Let’s go Buffalo!! Go Bulls!!!
