  1. Do agree. The atmosphere was like some of the MAC games last year. It is always better when you are playing a team with above average and athletic players. Bonnies are definitely playing with confidence. With Lofton, Welsh, and their big center and some decent role players they should only improve. Our family tries to take in at least one Bona home game because the atmosphere there is always a great atmosphere. Go Bulls!!!
  2. What Johnson did in the past is in the past and not the present. We have been told that he has been great in practice but if that does not translate to games especially after 13 games I do not understand the amount of playing time he is getting. Other players on the team should get the chance to contribute. Still somehow hope he can get his confidence back in games that matter. Overall another game where we started out slowly with no offensive flow or defensive intensity but the players did not hang their heads or get frustrated, They definitely played a better 2nd half except for the last three minutes on shot selection and overall play. The key was Bona’s big men along with Welsh being in foul trouble and Graves having a good game . Looking forward to the first MAC game. Go Bulls!!!!
  3. It might have something to do with them being in the A-10 and they had won like seven in a row.Hope the team just concentrates on playing one game at a time and does not take any team for granted. Go Bulls!!!!
  4. Do agree that it usually takes the MAC home games to have increased fan interest and attendance. I believe overall we averaged around 2,200 for all our home games last year. Some of the home MAC games were in the 2,000-3,000 attendance. What is still disappointing is the student attendance that has been just a handful of true blue students. Why more peer pressure can not be put onto the students is hard to understand. To some degree I could understand if the team had no star power or a non-competitive team like how the other local teams are, To be honest the home games for the women have been more exciting than the men’s games and hope attendance increases in the upcoming home games. Go Bulls!!!!
  5. Our family are young for our age, in our 60’s and now 70’s!!! Not sure what that category that puts us in. We have been rabbit basketball fans and we went to all the Aud games and when it was a full house it was loud. We went to some Niagara games a number of years ago when they had a good exciting group of players and when that place was full it was a great atmosphere. Alumni the last few years has been great with a full house especially with the students and we are looking forward to I hope to some full houses. As long as the team can play competitive and winning games it should be an exciting place and atmosphere. Looking forward to tonight’s game and our whole family will be there. We can only hope the officiating will not affect the outcome. GoBulls!!!!
  6. Agree that it will be a good test for us. Really hope to see a large and enthusiastic crowd. A little baffled about how many tickets are available for games. A case in point was the Niagara game!! We had relatives from out of town and when we called for extra tickets for three in a row we were told there were not many available?? Some in the 100’s and 300’s and general admission. I think we only had 2,000- 3,000. I guess many of the season ticket holders did not show up for a number of reasons. Looking forward to UB showing up and playing a great overall game after their holiday break and hoping their practices were productive and the players becoming more comfortable with each other. Go Bulls!!!!
  7. Agree with the comments above by ubbulls08 and TML1000. She is just in her first year but the first time we seen her we all said we had not seen a player with the overall athletic ability she has except for a few UB players. The players and coaches have to know who are the best players on the team and play the game to those strengths. The only player on the team that should possibly take more shots is Onwuka. There players all over the country that are the best players on a team and they are not asked to take less shots. Dillard was a great player but she did not stop taking shots even if she had a tough game. She helped her team in other ways just like Fair does and will in the future with her passing, rebounding and overall play. I only hope more fans will come out to see this team and how Coach Jack makes decisions in games especially without Summer. It is exciting to see the improvement of many of these players and how the MAC season will play out. Go Bulls!!!!
  8. You can still play hard until the final horn without putting up shots but as I said it should be a learning experience for a young player with unlimited potential. Go Bulls!!!!
  9. Hope Coach Jack talks to her and she learns to play the entire game the right way. She has abundant talent but it has to b channeled in the right direction. Go Bulls!!!!
  10. Do agree. The total team effort has been outstanding. Walters and Adeyeye have improved and are both contributing especially on the rebounding side. Gaba seems to be more comfortable with each game. Hamilton is still struggling shooting but has contributed rebounding. Schiffer hopefully will start to hit more shots as she becomes more comfortable against D1 competition. If we continue to get solid contributions from Hall, Onwuka and Fair this can be another exciting season. As a first year player Fair is a must see who should only improve with more experience. I can only hope the word is getting out to come see this team. Go Bulls!!!!
  11. Agree. It was a strange game in a number of ways with low turnout. Just a total of 18 fouls called with a total of 14 free throws taken and with two players with three fouls. Good to see the 3 point shooting an improvement by several players. The one concern was our 19 turnovers along with Segu lacking court awareness on a number of occasions and it looked like Jordan was crapping up or having some other problem as he did not look like he was moving like he normally does. Looking forward to the Bona game. Go Bulls!!!!
  12. Congrats to the entire team. Just a dominating game on both sides of the ball. The offensive line was tremendous again and Patterson with his great runs leaving players grasping at air. Another case of a player like Patterson not getting the hype from national media because of being a mid major. Hope this team can now build off this success. Go Bulls!!!!
  13. Agree. A win is a win. Who knows how the outcome might have been because Hitchon missed a wide open 3 with about a minute or so to go that would of just put us up by 1. Jordan and Williams hit the key shots that won the game for us. Go Bulls!!!!
  14. Agree. No ill will against Hurley. Seen some of the game against St. Mary’s and there was very little whining last night just pretty much sitting on his hands and talking to the assistant coaches the entire 2nd half. Ouch!!!
  15. Mballa and Hardnett 4-12 from free throw line!!!! Unless they somehow improve it could mean big time trouble in MAC games. Maybe they should try the 1,2 Step or shooting blind-folded or shoot for hours in practice. There are players in college basketball that are littered with never being able to shoot free throws when they have been playing the game all the lives!!!! Game time decisions are not like practice decisions and some players do not have the mental makeup during a game. That’s why the game is so frustrating and at the same time can be so exciting at the same time. As for the noise level at the game yes it was not good but a lot of that has to do with what we have seen the last few years. The intensity level and this team still not having an identity and their uneven play are reasons for the fan reaction. Still hope for team chemistry to improve. Go Bulls!!!!
  16. Do agree also with the objective comments. In game adjustments but Whitesell and players don’t seem to be working. Watching the bench at timeouts Whitesell seems to be drawing up plays but are they wrong or are the players not listening or capable of doing them?? Many of us just seem to sense that this team makeup does not seem right as of right now. Do agree the team dynamic is so different than last year and we have to get past that and all the success we had the last few years. It will be up to the coaching staff to make the correct player rotations for the overall success of this team. Hope to see some improvement against Niagara but the true measuring stick will be how we play against Bona is now playing very well. Go Bulls!!!
  17. I don’t think anyone thought Hurley was going to stay in a mid major coaching position forever. Both Hurley and White started UB on the ascent level and how the last number of years were the greatest for all the fans. Go Bulls!!!!
  18. Do agree!!! It was a great move to the basket. For the majority of the time Theresa has been under control and picks her spots when driving to the basket. Dayton seemed to be keying on her more in the 2nd half but she was very good on the defensive end and rebounding the entire game. Especially in the 4th quarter the entire team clamped down on defense again holding Dayton to 59 points. Like someone said that there were a number of UB men watching the game and hope they took some notes about playing defense. Go Bulls!!!!
  19. Do agree that Gaba has shown more overall awareness and seems like she has some decent moves around the basket and I think with more coaching and confidence with increased playing time along with getting in better playing shapes he could turn into a decent post player. Both Walters and Adeyeye give us a decent presence down low with their defense and rebounding and look more confident with their increased playing time. This coaching staff seems to making good decisions regarding the playing time of the above players along with Hamilton that should bode well once we get into MAC play. The word needs to get out that more fans should come to see Dyaisha Fair along with Theresa Onwuka play. We have not seen a freshman with the overall ability like Fair in a long time. Go Bulls!!!!
  20. Great to see and hear some passionate fans. My brothers and I will be listening. We usually yell out “terrible call ref”. Hope we have a decent crowd tonight to cheer on and celebrate a victory. Go Bulls!!!!
  21. Who’s going to tonight’s game? Heard an interview with Coach Jack on the Jerry Sullivan show today. A really nice interview on a number of topics that if anyone gets a chance should try to hear. A couple of the main comments: Summer is still out and with a knee injury and Coach Jack said it will probably be for the year and that she would redshirt and play next year. Christie is out with a leg injury and did not give a timetable for a return. Coach Jack commented that people should come out to see Fair and had positive comments on her as a player and a person. Another very positive and uplifting interview as Coach Jack seems to always give. Can only hope the Buffalo News can have more coverage of this team and have more fans call the sports editor to push for more coverage. Go Bulls!!!!
  22. Do agree. The players and coaches from the last few years were in the right place and at the right time and as saying goes it was the perfect storm. Just the right combination of players of Caruthers, CJ, Perkins and Harris along with others. Hope to see improvement in the upcoming games. Go Bulls!!!!
  23. Our family’s opinion is that the regular season matters and every home game matters to all the fans that want to see the team play an exciting brand of basketball and we want the team to win and see an exciting game. Yes, the MAC in Cleveland and getting to the NCAA’s in March is great and would be the result of an successful season. But we go to these games to support the team and hope for wins and that is what’s matters. These last few years have succeeded in bringing a winning culture and renewed enthusiasm from fans and that is the tough part of the equation if the team does not continue the winning tradition. We will continue to support the team and hope improvement is made as the season continues. Go Bulls!!!
  24. Thanks for providing some levity with the Brock commentary. It helps to take our thoughts off of the poor play of the team at home. Go Bulls!!!!
  25. As I said a number of times this team really has an entirely different makeup from the previous years. It does not appear they have a truly take charge leader. They up to this point do not have the mental strength to overcome when the game is not going in a positive direction. The games against Dartmouth and Army you could see the body language and mental side being very bad. In both games there was very little ball movement or defense and just one player playing one on one ball. Again we can say all we want about the potential of some of these players but that does not necessarily translate on the floor. Some of the comments from some of the fans around us were that the makeup of this team does not feel right. All of the momentum of Alumni being a tough place to play is now out the window. Every game is its own entity no matter what the competition is like on paper. I wonder if UB still has their mental coach like they had last year but not sure if that would help. This team should be concentrating on their next game only and not thinking about the MAC in Cleveland . It does appear we are not sure what we will get from this team from one game to the next. The next three games will tell a lot about this team’s future. Go Bulls!!!!!
