  1. With our uneven play in a number of games I can see why there would be concern from many of us. The first game against Toledo we kept Knapke and Sanford in check with only 11 and 3 points. Jackson and Darrington went off for 20 and 21. We shot 50% from the field and the 3 point line and kept them to 40% and 34 % from the 3 point line. The key point is we had 13 assists and only 7 turnovers. This was the game where Harris went off for 34 points shooting 6-10 from 3’s and Perkins had 21 points along with a quiet 13 points and 12 rebounds for Graves. Close to a repeat of that game should result in a win. In basketball are ever 2 games close to the same but that is why they play the games. Another exciting game coming up. Go Bulls!!!!
  2. Do agree Dontay has been our overall best, most consistent player on both ends of the floor. Graves has been our unsung player all year. With all of our other players he does go unnoticed in many games. one thing I noticed is how good both Graves and Dontay have improved their free throw shooting along with their scoring and just overall play. With the inconsistencies and struggles of Harris and Perkins where would we be without these two??
  3. When they said the 4th largest crowd is that included before the reconfiguration of Alumni?? But at any rate it is great to see the big crowds and the enthusiasm of the fans. Our family continues to pinch ourselves at how far this program has come for both the men and women. Hope we see some of these fans come out for the women’s game on Sat at 2PM. We only have a few games left to see Dillard who is a joy to watch. Go Bulls!!!!
  4. I still think a big key for us to win is the health of CJ’s shoulder. If he can not get involved down low with all the banging that goes on and help on the boards along with Harris still having a tough go from the 3 point line we will need big games from Perkins, Jordan and Caruthers. Have faith in this team as they have been in these type of games the last few years and have had success. Go Bulls!!!!
  5. Agree that we need to limit turnovers and rebound on both ends of the floor. Need a good all around game from Perkins. Hope CJ’s shoulder is better. Did anyone notice the last game with CJ’s shoulder hurting he was not involved under the basket as he usually is? He normally is very involved and always seems to come up with timely rebounds. Go Bulls!!!!
  6. Sorry for the misspelled word. Fagan does appear to have the athletic ability to play our style. I need a proof reader or better spell check!! Go Bulls!!!
  7. Agree that it has been awesome and fun for all involved being ranked and with all the national exposure. Whether ranked or not all the MAC games are important and are a war. The main thing is to finish in first place and have the momentum going into Cleveland. The concern is Dontay’s ankle, CJ’s shoulder, Perkins mental state, Harris shooting woes and Jordan’s foul shooting. Defense will always be the key and of course you never know what the officiating will be on any given night. Last year Clark was the main ingredient who took a lot of presssure off the other players. Have confidence in the medical staff and the coaches to get all the players in the right mental state. Go Bulls!!!!!
  8. Do agree about Bertram. Does not appear to have the quickness and overall athletic ability to play the style Of Nate’s offense and defense. Will not be surprised if he transfers to another school to complete his education and be able to get a chance to play. Falange does appear to have the athletic ability to play in our style but not sure why he is not getting some playing time. Johnson has been getting some minutes before Bertram and Fagan which is a little puzzling. Go Bulls!!!!
  9. Great wins by both men and women. Another great game by Dillard scoring and in and distributing the ball especially to Hemphill. Still going to be tough in the upcoming games when they get no scoring from their point guard and not a good game from Morrison. Central Michigan coming in next Sat will put big time pressure on Dillard so other players will have to step up big time. Hope some of the fans that showed up early will come back for the women’s game next Sat. One of the keys will be to limit Reyna Frost of Central. The coaching strategy has to change. Go Bulls!!!!
  10. Crazy how good and how long Caruthers played. In the warmups he did not shoot or run around much and was talking to the trainer a number of times. He did lock down their two top guards when he was guarding them. CJ’s right shoulder was definitely bothering him as he was moving and flexing it during the game and had an ice pack on it on the bench. Still a total lack of confidence with Harris on 3 pointers. We will need all three of these players the rest of the way to finish first in conference play. Go Bulls!!!!
  11. Awful does not even describe the first half. There was no energy, no ball movement, Dillard with 2 points forcing shots and have turnover after turnover.and the worst part was no defensive intensity. The 2nd half was total reversal of the 1st half. Ball movement was quick and as a result had many layups and they played great team defense that created 19 Toledo turnovers. Good games from Hemphill who is starting to take quality shots and continues to be our only true post player who can rebound, and Morrison with 14 points. Off night for Dillard with 17 points but she did have 9 assists and 6 steals. Big positive was their free throw shooting 20-23!!!!! Somehow coach Jack has to figure out a rotation with Morrison and Adeyeye along with Hemphill as we continue to get out rebounded. I continue to say that Wilkins is playing out of position as a power forward. She is a defensive liability underneath with no strength and quickness. In spite of some of the team’s ups and downs in games here we are 7-2 in conference and hope to see a good crowd at Sat’s doubleheader. Go Bulls!!!!
  12. I agree but we never know who he knows in the coaching fraternity. The games against better quality teams we were out played and out coached. This will be the year if he learns from his mistakes in those games. Go Bulls!!!!
  13. Time will tell. Will be interesting to see what our quarterback and receiving situation looks like. Interesting to see if LL and the coaching staff will change their offensive and defensive philosophies. Disappointed in both schemes in the 2nd half of year against the better teams. A very conservative approach on both sides of the ball and were out coached. Do they have They really need an upgrade in the kicking game. Go Bulls!!!!!
  14. A very good synopsis of what happens to teams that are not the true blue blood power 5 type teams. Just so hard for so many teams at the mid major levels and below to have continued success over a long period of time. Yes you can hit on some very good players but the key is to be able to replace players and not have a drop off in play. So much is based on consistency from one year to the next, injuries and if players continue to improve. A good comparison is Harris and Reese at Canisius who are nowhere near their play from last year. Still for us it is unchartered waters and all the chatter and opinions on these type topics is a pleasure to be part of.Go Bulls!!!!!
  15. Isn’t it crazy and yet exciting talking about seeds and top 25 rankings!!! All our family wants is for our team to play good, competitive all out effort basketball and let the results speak for themselves. It is till an exciting time to be a UB supporter and see the excitement level at an all time high!!! We see games all over the country where star players have off games so lets keep our positive vibes going for our players to turn it up a notch in the remaining games. Go Bulls!!!!
  16. Do agree. Dontay has shown senior maturity in all parts of his game. He used to get upset and lose his focus when called for fouls. His offensive game has really been on the upswing. If Harris and Perkins start playing up to their potential along with some free throw shooting improvement from Jordan we should be okay. Go Bulls!!!!
  17. To sum of the loss as as been stated is right on the money. 3 missed free throws in the last couple minutes, turnovers and lack of confidence by Harris along with another sub par game from Perkins against a good BG team spell defeat. Harris shooting seems to have turned into a mental breakdown as each shot does not go in. And yes Jordan not even coming close to improving his foul shots is proving a big time disaster. Confident Nate and coaching staff will get it turned around. Still confident in these players and looking forward to the remaining games. Go Bulls!!!!!
  18. All the stats are nice to talk about after the game. Shooting 50% from the foul line will not cut it in a close game or if other parts of our game are not on. Our family agreed that we have not seen a game where the majority of shots were drives to the basket that was probably the result of us not being able to make outside shots. Just a very strange game. Perkins looked totally out of sync and when he did shoot they were forced shots. Do agree that the one constant and sets us apart from the other MAC teams is our defense. The same defensive intensity and better overall shooting will result in another win.We were happy with the crowd considering all the weather forecasts for days before the game. With 1,500+ students a game I think we will have a good shot at sellouts for the remaining games. Go Bulls!!!!!
  19. Has UB left yet for Bowling Green?? Are they taking bus or plane?? I think it takes 6 hours by bus?? Hope they are able to leave early enough so it won’t affect them mentally or physically!! Go Bulls!!!!
  20. Many, many very good and interesting opinions. What is happening at UB is we are winning and gaining national exposure and have very good players and look like we are getting very good player prospects wanting to come here. As long as Nate hits on the incoming players our success will continue. You simply don’t win without good players with the right kind of chemistry. We just have to enjoy this ride and hope it lasts for a long, long time. Go Bulls!!!!
  21. Do agree that this discussion will really heat up come March. It will be up to the alumni and fans like us to pony up more money along with Mark Alnutt to sell this program and Nate to the alumni donors. I truly think Nate will stay if UB shows they want to continue this momentum by increasing his salary. Nate has said many times the grass is not always greener on the other side. Nate has said that winning and being happy where you are is important. In some cases money does not have to be the overriding factor. Our family have already sent our messages to Nate AND Mark about our feelings on keeping this coaching staff and team in tact. Hope 100’s/1’000’s do the same. Go Bulls!!!!
  22. Full stats: 2nd half. Field - 62.2% Game stats: Field - 51.8% 3-pt. - 75% 3-pt - 50% F throw - 0%. Throw. - 69.2% Go Bulls!!!!
  23. It is not appropriate on a site like this. Maybe in the gutter. I have lost all respect for Ed and will not comment on your opinions. I hope you find a site that likes foul language. Hope for a great game with an enthusiastic crowd and Go Bulls!!!
  24. These are good conversations and there are always going to be varied opinions but we have to end with we just have to agree to disagree. I think it is time to say goodbye to anyone that has to start using the “f” word to try and make his point. Will continue to support our team at the mid major level with passion. Go Bulls!!!!
  25. Understand and I will answer. Regardless of win or loss we have been a basketball family all our lives and we love to critique games, players, coaches and yes officials. We are passionate and supportive fans. We have had conversations with previous administrators and staff for years about officials and that will not change win or lose. Unfortunately we were raised that with what you do in life or work you have responsibility and accountability and sadly there is not with officials. Will always continue to enjoy good, competitive basketball and support our teams. Go Bulls!!!!
