  1. Lets wait until they’re in the top 25, not a 5 seed in the MAC who gets hot in the tournament
  2. Of course it would have been nice to get a commit, but I’m going to wait until the dust settles before judging how they did.
  3. Hopefully he gets to a program with a bigger role for him. Best of luck. Now we see who comes in
  4. Toledo quickly falling apart after such a promising season. As of now it’s us and Ohio at the top
  5. I thought Fagan was great when he was given the opportunity. Regularly hit 3s, was good rebounding, and had quick hands in getting some steals
  6. Am I ok to assume no news is good news with UB players staying here?
  7. Not going well for Bama at the half. Hopefully they figure it out or my bracket is ruined lol
  8. Saw a ton of replies here and thought we had a commit 😕 thanks guys!
  9. We we get through this portal without anyone transferring I think the staff and players deserve a lot of credit for sticking together and making a run at it next season
  10. This is the approach I choose to take. We’re recruiting at a higher level than we have in the history of the program. People need to relax and wait for the dust to settle
  11. So this isn’t just due to a sanction period for the violation? The OP made it sound like we can’t recruit because of the violation
  12. Can someone actually explain how the sanctions work, without the stupid stuff? Are there specific weeks that they aren’t allowed to recruit? I forget the timeframe on all that
  13. I agree that it’s a bit of a hypocrisy, but my thought process is this: players are not perfect regardless of how well they’re coached. Adding to that, the high tempo pace we play at lends itself to high risk high reward results. It’s possible to give players a pass because they’re young amateur athletes playing for free, while at the same time thinking that the “fault” is partly theirs. At the end of the day the blame will fall on the coaching staff though, and I know personally I don’t have a smart enough basketball mind to see who should be bearing the brunt of the responsibility. As for the 3 years past oats comment, I agree. Next year is a huge litmus test and we have a strong roster going in. Really hoping we win the MAC.
  14. Perhaps you’ve forgotten what it was like to be a 20 year old. Personally if I were asked to be half as disciplined as these players are I’d have flamed out halfway through my first season 😂
  15. Oh I was talking about montell, and the seniors who graduated when oats left. Felt like it would’ve been wrong to leave him out since technically he was a starter and had some big moments for us
  16. There are legitimate concerns. The problem is that when everything is a concern for you and everything is terrible all the time well it kind of loses its impact. As for Jesef’s post that you quoted, I agree. We need to be better at home next season. I think that we will once fans are back in the seats, along with having a very strong roster packed with seniors. I’ll never understand people who choose to be so negative, especially with an amateur sport where KIDS come and play for the university, giving their all for free. As for the paid staff, time will tell if Whitesell was the right hire. So far the sample size is 2 years. 1) where we lost 4 starting seniors and our best 6th man in history, along with the entire recruiting class when Oats left, and 2) the year of covid where the season was a disjointed mess from the start and we still got to the MAC championship and a birth in the NIT. Am I disappointed we lost our final 2 games? Of course. But I’m also trying to be objective and rational about the situation. To expect the team to magically carry on the success of oats after losing Massinburg Harris Perkins Carothers and McCrae is not realistic. If you think that it is I don’t know what to tell you. If Whitesell can get a couple high level guards in the off-season everything will be just fine despite all the doom and gloom on this board.
  17. Lighten up Francis, it’s getting old
  18. Of course I was joking about Bennett. It was hyperbole to show how absurd it is to call for a coaching change because we lost to Ohio in the MAC championship
  19. Well Ohio is about to take down Virginia, so does that mean Tony Bennett should get fired too?
  20. Not making the big dance was a letdown, but this team grew a lot over the course of the season and have nothing to hang their heads over. Next year we’ll be considered front runners in the MAC along with Ohio. The question marks don’t come in until the 2022-2023 season. There’s still plenty of time to figure it out and I’m certainly not panicking over it.
  21. I’ll root for MAC teams in the post season but bona? Not a chance
  22. I’ll be rooting for Ohio but I hate Ohio. Just like I was rooting for Toledo yesterday
  23. Not that I don’t like Alnutt, I do, but what has he done here to raise his stock like that? Retained Leipold and Jack, and internal hire of Whitesell. Not sure how the university has done on athletics fundraising since he took over, but by and large everything has seemed to stay status quo in his short tenure
