  1. For the actual AD though, if he did this without telling anyone or talking to anyone, what the hell are you thinking? Maybe he was pulling a George Costanza and trying to get fired. Shitting on the NIT at St. Bonaventure is a good start to that! 😂
  2. There were 800 in the first week. That is insane! I believe there are 349 D1 basketball teams currently, at 14 per roster, that's 4,886 players. 800 is 16% roster turnover. That doesn't even count players that will get added as teams drop off in the various tournaments. I would say maybe 20% of players exhaust eligibility (Seniors, Grads, Covid holdovers) plus incoming freshman along with those trying to jump up from JUCO/NAIA/D2/D3. Doesn't seem like there are enough chairs.
  3. Tim Cohane 🤢 Cheating to achieve mediocrity is very, very sad.
  4. If she has graduated, she can portal out whenever she wants and will not have to sit out.
  5. That didn't take long. Doesn't even have to move out of the state!
  6. Last year we were scared to throw the ball for some reason. Hopefully that changes this year and we have a good balanced offense.
  7. We had a really good run of ADs, not sure what happened on this on. He is ultra focused on football, which has definitely hurt our basketball product. There is almost no increase in funding for basketball than when Oats was here. Based upon 2022 available info, basketball was funded at $2.6 million, women’s basketball was at $2.3 million. Women’s basketball is very comparable to high mid-majors. MBB is about half. I would like all of our sports to be relevant. It’s great we have a new locker room and sports performance center, but as you have seen with the wrong leadership you will still suck. I’m hoping Lembo rights that ship. We should be funding MBB properly too if we expect anyone to compete.
  8. Happy for him, it was a solid move and his skill set transferred well
  9. Highest paid coach in NCAA didn’t buy them much. A depleted Kansas should still have plenty of talent to win given their resources.
  10. BB and staff have done well. Fun style of play and bringing in a couple local players as well.
  11. Lani Cornfield from Lake Shore HS and member of the Seneca nation is transferring to UB from Southern Mississippi. She will be a Senior. 25.2 mpg. 8.3 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 91 assists, 54 steals. Shot 41.1% FG and 39.6% 3-Pt (best on the team). Tenacious defender. Sounds like a solid add. She is 5'6 and listed as a guard.
  12. Without NIL, I believe what you are hoping for is likely not attainable this year. Those guys are going to want a little action to make a move. Maybe our staff can lure someone with those qualification. for this signing i do like it and AJ having a friend on the team could help too. This years team was obviously fractured and didn’t seem to like each other much. I would prefer a team that likes each other and wants to play together. I see these upsets with Oakland, Yale even Samford, etc. are groups where the sum is greater than its parts. That’s what we need to get back on track.
  13. I’m all for athleticism as long as it doesn’t turn into street 1 on the world basketball because they think their skills are unmatched.
  14. Should be a really solid team if they can pull it together. The only loss is really Rana. KJ was an inspirational leader and solid in the locker room, but I think we can improve what she provided on the court. i give her huge props playing as a mom, getting her degree and coming back from an Achilles. She could have easily packed it up anywhere along the way, but she didn’t. i wouldn’t mind either her or Rana as GAs to stay around the team.
  15. Coach Burke just announced a Boom transfer recruit incoming. Hopefully some size inside or a PG.
  16. I believe that is the case
  17. I’m taking it as a good sign
  18. Slightly different I know, but 348 D1 women’s basketball teams didn’t even call Rana El Husseini back. It only takes one team and put a player in the right spot to succeed. How many teams didn’t want the kid from Oakland that put up 10 3s on Kentucky?
  19. I am perfectly happy with interchangeable pieces, especially if they can play defense and communicate
  20. Legend has it he and AJ Boldin are friends, but didn't play on the same team.
  21. It's starting to take shape.
