  1. Lunardi has Toledo as the team in from the MAC. http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/bracketology
  2. Thanks for pointing it out. It has been fixed.
  3. A student can back out of the Letter of Intent and go to another school if they wish. However, unless they are given a release they cannot play their freshman year without a release. Over the last 5 - 10 years there has been a lot of pressure on schools to grant releases in situations like this where the head coach who recruited a player is either fired or gets a new job.
  4. You really think UB is going to refuse these players their releases and make them play here against their will huh I did not say anything about whether or not UB would give him a release. All I said is that he signed a Letter of Intent, correcting a factual error in the statement, which has value.. A verbal commitment is not worth the paper it is is not written on. Factual errors have to be pointed out. The next thing you know people will believe that they are true. This has happened in the past on this and another site.
  5. He is not a verbal commit. He signed a Letter of Intent last fall.
  6. That does not mean he had 40 people on his short list. He could have had ten on the short list and another 30 contacted him and said they were interested in the job and now you have a 40 person list. Also I guess this shows that the comments by people that no one wanted the job were wrong.
  7. In press conference he states that he will continue to run the same offense. "Run, run, run..." as well as the blue collar defense.
  8. Yes. http://ubbulls.com/sports/mbkb/2018-19/videos/20190408-43jeeyav
  9. You also use a search firm by giving them names, tell them these are the people you are interested in and they do a lot of the vetting for.you. Also people who are not on the list can contact the search firm and let the firm know they are interested in the opening.
  10. Just curious is anyone here who is talking here and the other thread about UB picking up grad transfers complain about KJ Osborn going to Miami?
  11. In a heartbeat. I just think that ship has sailed sadly Not yet. He has not been given a release yet.
  12. Do you really think that after being turned down for the top job he would want to come to UB as an assistant (even with family in the area)?
  13. Over looked in all of employment changes is that Nate Oats came in fifth in the voting for the AP Coach of the Year. https://pilotonline.com/sports/college/virginia-tech/article_2325d231-d53f-5aaf-851c-39c9cae54506.html
  14. All three of these players have signed a National Letter of Intent. They have made statements about wanting to reopen their recruiting. Those statements are about as valuable as a verbal commitment. They are all still part of the class for next year, until they are granted a release from the letters of intent. I have yet to see where UB has granted them their release. They have asked for but have not publicly been given their release as of yet.
  15. There used to be a poster who went Ohio whose avatar was a badge that said Grammar Police. Where are you? We need you more than ever. If he does not come back a few things for people to do: Learn the difference between you're and your. Use the proper form of to, too or two. Same for its and it's. Read your post before hitting "Submit Reply" and if you do not read before, check it over after it is posted and edit it to fix errors. Thank you.
  16. It is never a waste of time to interview. Every interview helps you for the next interview.
  17. Here is one endorsement, although now from a former player.
  18. Take this for what it is worth. When I went for lunch today I sat down in a pizzeria looked up and was staring at picture of Bill Murray, when he ate there.
  19. Two quick points on the length of time since Oats left. First it is less than two weeks. To some it may seem like an eternity. It is not, especially with the world's largest basketball coaches networking event this weekend, aka the Final Four. Second, hiring quickly is not always the best. If you do not fully investigate a potential coach you can end up being embarrassed. Remember the George O'Leary era at Notre Dame, it lasted all of 5 days. https://www.nytimes.com/2001/12/15/sports/notre-dame-coach-resigns-after-5-days-and-a-few-lies.html UB will have a coach. A full staff of assistants and a full roster for the 2019-20 season. In other words (invoking the father a rumored candidate's father's movie):
  20. The possibility of a woman head coach was already raised a week ago when Beckie Hammon was raised as a possible hire.
  21. Hudson performance against the guy from Loyola (Ill.) was unbelievable. It is probably one of the best three point shooting performances ever, by a man or a woman. To say she was on fire is an understatement.
  22. Why do you mention his name? Educated surfing.
