  1. Another big play against us. I am thinking the only way we win will be an NIU turnover that we MAINTAIN and score after, not like the double fumble silliness in the 1st half.
  2. 10-10, neither defense stopping the offenses. Long drives so low scoring late in the 2nd. At least Marks and Myers are playing well.
  3. I listen via the radio link in the basketball schedule. It takes you right to the correct 1520/Audacy page and begins streaming. A great note during the post game show. This will be our 1st meeting with Rider since 1992 when we were both in the ECC. I recall us playing every MAAC team the last 25 years, but not Monmouth or Fairfield. Looked it up and we last played Fairfield in 1977.
  4. Quarles just said in the post game that Hardnett chipped a tooth playing so hard, more than the box score 18 minutes 3 blocks and good on the screens. He and Skogman played 18 mins and the 4 starters all played 34+, so coach said they are just trying to build up the bench. I am not hopeful, with how glacial Brew and Jones are coming along in dependability.
  5. Bingo, they want to sit Perry for next season but good lord can we afford it!?!
  6. It's just like Bona vs Canisius yesterday, with about 5 minutes left, the better team woke up almost too late.
  7. Meanwhile, early season college BB continues to be wacky: https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/boxscore/_/gameId/401371872
  8. Today Kolbe Burrell entered the portal, so another scholarship for the staff to utilize. Burrell never saw action, while Mike Washington really set himself up as a future potential offensive weapon. So we have 4 in the portal and from the game notes: Prior to Wednesday’s game, Buffalo will honor 18 seniors playing their final homes game at UB Stadium. Being honored before the game will be Wankeith Akin, Eric Black, Sean Colgan, Evan Finegan, Jake Fuzak, Evan Gantley, Shemar Hayes, Ja’Marcus Ingram, Dominic Johnson, Jack Klenk, Kevin Marks, Jake Molinich, Taylor Riggins, Jeremiah Riordan, Tim Terry, Carlton Todd, Keith Woetzel and Kadofi Wright. Does this mean other class of 2017 players (KVT, Isiah King, Patterson, Ruiz) could choose to be back? So depending upon how the additional Sr's who have their extra year of eligibility decide to stay, play elsewhere, or hang 'em up, Mo will have a lot of ride's to use.
  9. I personally can't see it. Unless we bring in some quality transfers I expect a rebuilding year, 2-2 non-conference with UMASS and Holy Cross, then likely a similar conference year to this one. We'll likely be even younger than this season on defense (this season saw very little depth), OL (no depth at all this season), and WR (only 2 TDs from underclass WR's). Not as putrid as 2010 or 2016 but I am expecting a year of watching the 2021 class develop as they play, and hope we can pull what NIU did from last season to this one.
  10. I wondered why coach kept the starters in so deep in the exhibition but tonight it showed why. This team was locked in to play. Absolutely sparkling FT shooting and the defense was insanely good.
  11. Just mystifying coverages and missing our starting DE's hasn't helped. Even as we slaughtered Akron's bad OL, the last 2 weeks we are downright inept. Once the super-Sr's move on it is hard to even think about next season's defense.
  12. Perry is on the roster but in the starters/bench graphic of the game notes, he is not listed. Either an oversight, or perhaps they feel good on backcourt depth and are using a redshirt year.
  13. The game notes list the starters as: Williams, Mballa, Brock, Segu, and Jack. 4 Srs and grad student and we'll have to see if that goes beyond the exhibition. I'd bet a potential 2nd deep of Skogman, Hardnett, Blocker (or Fagan for bigger lineup), Brewton, Jones, would likely contend in a few low-major D-1 leagues.
  14. I can get how aggressive and amped up BGSU was, after all we won the last 4 meetings and JP embarrassed their D the last 2 years. We didn't match them at all. I still do not understand why, after losing key DB's to the portal before and during the season, we still start a nickel-back yet are softer than ever in the open field. Either poor tackling or just over-pursuing, out of place, and wide open lanes with no speed to compensate the mistakes. That's on the coaches. The D was decent with a true 4/3/4, not what we see on the field. It's not like we have an Okezie Alozie or Larry Hutchinson out there. Just go back to 3 LB's withTre Wilkins or Tim Terry..who took his name out of the portal after all, but didn't even play this week. Pretty please coaches, tinker with the D how you want it AFTER you get your players in here.
  15. Wonderful..now we need an Ohio-like comeback...I just don't get why we just do not get up against the bad MAC squads.
  16. I don't get these slow starts?!?! Only the punting gets an A grade.
  17. We are suddenly VERY thin at DB, so our pass rush has to do their thing. Mark Davis and Larry Robbins entered the portal, and now Brown out. Quillian Howze..come on down.. you are UB's next stud CB.
  18. If we beat Akron, Ohio upsets Kent, Ball St beats Miami, we'll have 4 East teams at 2-2. Unfortunately I think we have the toughest road to the East, as we drew NIU, Ball St and WMU, who might finish as the top 3 West teams.
  19. I think the biggest impact of the pro teams is the sponsorship $: Bills get top $, Sabres second, UB gets bits here and there. For years on WWKB, the game broadcasts had the same commercials. Once all three big sports started rolling new sponsors jumped on board. But we still need more work with Learfield for corporate ties, and the facilities..I've been waiting for UB Stadium to get ANY corporate re-naming for decades. Where UB isn't behind is general alumni and corporate giving. Boldly Buffalo just passed $800 Million raised. The UB brand is top 3 in WNY and people support proudly. But for athletics we have to wait for the Murchie Family to help major projects. There has to be continued winning and connecting that to Athletics giving.
  20. Hard to compare ticket sales between NHL and CBB, since only a handful of teams draw over 12k. But UB local ratings for nationally televised games beat the local Sabres ratings. Sabres don't have the Bills clout, just a lot more games for WGR to talk endlessly about. UB has our Northtowns niche, with better coverage than ever. My how times change as now NU and CC fans say UB steals all the oxygen from BN and tv coverage. Bona hype is mostly in Olean at this point.
  21. Yep, just tickets sold. Danny was lying for all those 20K plus games, except when Army rolled into Amherst.
  22. Morning rain kept students away last week, otherwise we were doing ok with 16K-17K the earlier games. Still much Covid worry out there and some unwilling to wear masks, so they stay away. Unlike the Bills who sell seats no matter what, our fans really want to see big UB stars and big wins, as we saw with 2013 and 2018. We just can't have mediocre play and losing streaks, like this season. And it's not like schools such as Charlotte, FAU, Rice, got into the AAC due to their attendance.
  23. They have to keep it going with opening up the offense as they did in the 2nd half last week. Finally airing out to TE's and receivers even when Williams wasn't getting open. Fully expecting McDuffie to grind out over 100 again and help him potentially to a 1000 yard break-out season.
