I'm just hoping the critics of 1st season whitesell end up being as hilariously wrong as the people who were calling Oats out....

I'll stick to what I said on Bull Run... ( https://www.ubbullrun.com/2020/1/5/21050436/niu-loss-three-quick-thoughts ) Many of the same voices starting to pile on Whitesell now were crapping on Oats in the first half of his first season at UB. But a lot of people want so badly to be right about calling out the mistakes of others that the rush to judgement. UB could make 20 wins this season, honestly given the transition of staff and players that would be an accomplishment. If the Bulls find their footing they have shown they can be an amazing team.

I'm sure there will be one or two otehr preps but if recent history is any guide UB will be picking up some people from the transfer portal or JUCOs

It's old... But here is some of the reason we stay in the MAC, yes it makes financial sense. Incidentally this was made when Bucky and Sully at TBN were saying UB should drop to do FCS football and be in the A10...

You're right on this, I'm not sure if other conferences do this or not but it's really cool that the MAC does.

I think I noted in the Bull Run gamethread, at the time, how well KVT sold the pass and how crucial it was given that we're a run first team. Everything about that situation said likely run, the score, the time left, our tendency, and KVT sat in there long enough to get the defense in position for the body blow by Patterson.

Might be nice but a lot of "what if" involved in this one. The "alliance", let's call it, would have to have at least 2 set Bowl agreements, and an alternate... As well as a TV contract in place.

This is what bit the Bills every year under Levy... Darryl Talley went to the bowl game with the Falcons and made a note of how different it was. Levy attitude was 'well they are professionals who don't need babysitting', where as other teams seemed to lock down to focus. Healy will get there I think, the guy has potential.

To be honest though, most Bowl games are outside of a students ability to afford... The Bahamas Bowl combines some of the best bowl weather with a somewhat affordable packages... And this one is way more affordable than the spud bowl. I think as Buffalo makes bowl trips more often communities like UBFan (and Bull Run) should get better about having members pool resources. There are quite a few air B&B's down there, and hotels which are more affordable but not right by the beach there are also non uber ridesharing options like Bahrezy Transportation These are things we're not used to planning as a fan base, but we will get there. Next year, when we go Bowling Again 🙂 I'll do some digging on Bull Run for options to that bowl game.

It's too lateral a move to be worth it... If it's just football hoops, the exposure could be nice, but the costs of travel for all sports would make it a net negative.

I don't remember a single time where I've dumped on them as being awful... With all our special teams problems this year did I focus on the players or the coaches? FIFY I didn't want to block you on Bull Run, I was asked by a lot of people (editors and posters) to make that move because of your behavior in the game threads. And I'll glady just ignore you here, I just wish you would treat 20 year old kids like they are 20 year old kids.

I've put up plenty of negative critiques of coaches and administrators over the years... The one thing I've never done is take a dump on a student athlete..

We also don't need people who publish things, and fancy themselves journalist to run down the kids wearing blue and white just so that they can live out some fantasy they are the next Bucky or Sully.. My point was not to make a personal attack on the man but to give some background in the fact he will always run down one or more of our student athletes when they struggle a bit.
