Some perspective

New coach at Utah State and not a single retuning player! There are no excuses for what happened this year with UB MBB. This example also suggests that the expectations for next year should be very high. Utah State and Buffalo’s athletic budgets are very similar. Based on what I’ve been able to read, there is a small collective, but nothing significant.

Their Blue A collective is substantial and has many former athletes playing a role like Jordan Love. Their HC was also a successful former HC at Montana State prior to his job now, not a rookie. He’s also making $900k, more than twice what Halcovage III is making. Not an excuse as this year was an abomination, but the Utah State coach is more the exception than the rule, he did kill it this year and it’s an open secret he’s headed to Washington after this season ends.

As a university they also seem to prioritize athletics as their “front porch”. SUNY clearly does not.

I read about their Blue A Collective which wasn’t announced until September 2023. But no arguments here with SUNY and athletics.

The Buffalo of the West just knocked off a depleted Kansas team.

Highest paid coach in NCAA didn’t buy them much. A depleted Kansas should still have plenty of talent to win given their resources.
