  1. It’s probably been said many times before, but I feel like Jeenathan’s Senior season was under-appreciated. He shot 49% from the field overall and 45% from 3. Aside from the 3 for 22 stinker vs Canisius and 3 for 14 vs WMU, he shot over 33% in all other games and 40% or better in 23 of 29 games. He was the one guy that was pretty much consistent all season.

  2. To play the “What if?” game, if we could’ve held on to late leads and beat both Drake and Howard, we might already be in that 125-150 range at 6-2. To be able to hang with teams like Drake and with quality wins over Colgate, GMU and Bona, the bar is being raised for my expectations in MAC play. Need to keep building on the recent successes.

  3. Appreciate you tuning in! Tulane game is definitely winnable with them recently losing at home against Fordham. Won't be easy for UB though. I think 125-150 is a fair expectation for this group based on their early results this season. UB is currently 165 in KenPom. The Howard game is their only ugly looking loss in the metrics while James Madison was their worst effort overall. While it might be difficult to get coaches to speak on record, we do have a few connections that we can hopefully get some more insight from at some point during the season.

  4. I remember… Displaced for ticket sales. How’s that working out? Might be time to re-evaluate that decision. Figure out ways to improve atmosphere in order to increase revenue. Edit: split the difference. Only transition a few rows into a student section. Thus maintaining more ticketed seats. Call it a True Blue Loyalty tax. Only students deemed rowdy enough get assigned this premier section.

  5. Great win for Buffalo over the weekend against St. Bonaventure. The Bulls dominated from the very beginning. Curtis Jones and Zid Powell look to be a dangerous 1-2 punch. A big key for the Bulls was getting Chad Venning into foul trouble early. Yann Farrell will be good for the Bonnies but was their only real threat on Saturday. UB is looking solid heading into the end of non-conference play. The victory over Bona changes my outlook a little bit. Buffalo now has three Top 130 KenPom victories just eight games into their season. They might have the ability to cause some problems in MAC play.

  6. Thank you for your 2 posts ripping on legacy ubfan members who are only reporting on the facts that were made public. If you have more to make public, do so and change the narrative. If not, take your anger out on the coaches, not this site. You obviously don't understand what a fan forum is all about and you're not apt to find anything different at whatever school your kid ends up at. Good luck down the road.

  7. Objection. I would suspect (though I assume someone has the data) that the Alabama kids in the portal will either: go back to Alabama or go to some other P5 program. I assume that you can find highly-recruited P5 guys that go to G5, but I believe that would not happen very often. I would also suspect that the impactful G5 guys are going to P5, while most of the guys who go from P5 to G5 didn't get much playing time.

  8. He had taken a huge step forward. I was hoping he would become one of our go to guys, but he had exceeded my expectations for this year. Only 10 turnovers this last game was great, especially against a quality opponent. Hopefully the coaching staff emphasized that in film study. Hoping to see more from players 6-12 tonight against SJF to get them confidence and game experience.

  9. I would suggest you do the same considering you're the one flipping out over a fan's opinion on a message board based on the limited facts made available about this kid leaving his team midseason. Again, your obvious anger is misdirected.

  10. Thank you for the analysis. Once again some good content. A couple of points, first I am hopeful for the game against Tulane. If UB pulls off a win, certainly UB is not the favorite, but they would be 4-2 against some good teams, and that bodes well for MAC play. Preseason, I was thinking UB ranking would be 150 to 175 range. I wonder which loss hurts them more, JMU or Howard. At this stage I could see the team rank exceed my expectations to be around 125-150. This would give them an outside chance in Cleveland. A wildcard to me is does Chatman rejoin the team and how does he fit in. Lastly, liked your discussion of the portal. It would be interesting to get candid insights from coaches and players, but not much chance of that. I wonder if last year was the norm going forward for UB, or if Whitesell will be able to keep guys. I don't know how much you can play the grass isn't always greener, but there are examples of that. Definitely a new challenge faced by mid majors, and UB certainly has their share. I guess as you said, winning probably increases the likelihood of players staying put. So I will keep rooting for the w's. 🙂

  11. The student section should be moved behind the visitor’s bench. A) they would have move incentive to be loud. B) their (hopefully rowdy) behavior would be seen on camera. People watching on tv would see an atmosphere that they would like to be a part of in person.

  12. There's no "Around the MAC" thread in the football subforum, so I guess this is as good a place as any - Kent State HC Sean Lewis is taking the OC position at Colorado under Deion, according to Pete Thamel.

  16. So true about predicting CBB. We know that the fact that UB beat Canisius and Canisius beat St. Bonaventure means little, this will be a very tough game on Saturday. Hoping UB is up for the challenge. As for the D3 games, maybe they give the team a chance to relax amid an otherwise tough Dec stretch of games. I am inclined to give them a pass in scheduling these two games given the overall quality of the other 11, but I am certainly understand your point.

  17. Bonnie’s beat ND by double digits, now tonight ND is leading MSU by 18 with 10:00 to go. Just goes to show how hard it is to predict these CBB games night in and night out. This gives me hope that if we can compete with Bona, maybe we can also compete with MSU if we bring our ‘A’ game. I have to believe the games against P5 opponents will help us when it comes time for MAC play. But as others have said, I think UB could do better than scheduling 2 games with D3 teams.
