  1. Welp, that sucks. Too bad we blew a 17 point lead against friggin' CMU.
  2. If BGSU manages to pull out the win tonight then our game Saturday suddenly becomes exciting as it's for a chance to go to Detroit. There's also a pretty good chance Rourke doesn't play or plays injured so that oughta give the Falcons a shot at pulling the upset.
  3. So we take #72 to the wire and almost win, beat #134 handily, and lose to #274... weird.
  4. It's the game for 7th place in a garbage tournament and it doesn't even appear to be on TV. Jesus, this program went off a cliff.
  5. This x10000. Alnutt made these decisions and he’s been a disaster across all major sports. Get Alnutt out NOW.
  6. Blow it up. Alnutt is the friggin worst. We were a top 15 team a few years ago and now we’re getting blown out by mid majors on our home court and losing to 300+ teams.
  7. Are we seriously in with a win over Kent and an Ohio loss now??
  8. Hardnett played his ass off and then lost us the game being an idiot.
  9. Ugh... you can just feel that they're going to blow this game. Great effort thus far though and very encouraging for the future.
  10. Only caught the last few minutes but I'm impressed with the ball movement. Where was that the last couple of games?
  11. Does Whitesell teach passing? It’s just a bunch of slashing and chucking up bad shots or turning the ball over. Super ugly. How the hell did we beat Colgate??
  12. I don't know. He has to start somewhere. I'm not advocating for him now but I can see him being a choice down the road: - He's a young guy who has spent his entire D1 career working alongside Nate Oats so I think he's more likely to stick to the Oats-style of play than someone like Whitesell who had already been a D1 coach elsewhere. - He is THE dude when it comes to recruiting for Nate's teams. He brought in a ton of the talent at Buffalo and he's knocking it out of the park in Alabama. - He's from WNY, which we all know is the most important thing to certain people... and could also contribute to him staying here a little longer than other young up and comers. I'm not saying he's Buffalo's Mark Few but he may not jump at the first opportunity if successful. Who knows? I'd rather we spend big bucks or take big chances then just fall back on the Reggie-like option like we did.
  13. I have a weird feeling we're going to do rather well tonight. I don't think we have a shot at winning but I don't think we'll see the incredible blowout we saw with JMU. This seasons reminds me of the old hockey game Blades of Steel. Remember that game with the fat guys, medium guys, and skinny guys? Well, our team feels like a team made up entirely of skinny guys with only 1 big guy. We're fast and pretty good at stealing the ball on defense, but we struggled scoring against JMU who had a similar roster of skinny guys. Colgate, on the other hand, had a roster of mediums and bigs and our offense was fast enough to get more open looks. I'll predict a tight game that falls apart towards the end resulting in like a 15pt loss. It will be something to build on, I hope. ^^This is the extent of my basketball knowledge.
  14. We don't know that. He could be garnering interest from smaller schools and turning them down for all we know. He makes more money as an assistant at Bama ($425k) than Jim Whitesell made last year as a head coach ($406k). I'm not advocating for Bryan Hodgson right now. Didn't we already cross that bridge at the end of last season? We had an opportunity then to fire Whitesell and let someone else rebuild. Our AD played it cheap (once again...) and stuck with the status quo. It makes no sense now to fire him since these are all of his guys in their early years with the program. We would be risking losing all of them and once again starting over. It makes no sense. All we can do now is hope they develop and show progress.
  15. A few years back we picked up a kid that I thought was one of the best ball handlers I had ever seen in the Blue and White however he couldn't finish at the rim. He played his ass off, super tough defense, and then he'd dribble through 3 guys and miss the damn layup. He just couldn't buy baskets. That player was Davonte Jordan. This current UB squad looks like its made up of a roster of Davonte Jordans. They play hard, force turnovers, and all seem to know how to slash to the rim. They just don't know how to finish. If we don't have any deadly outside shooters then we better figure out how to make shots in the paint. Davonte showed that it can be done since he got better every year at finishing shots. Hopefully Whitesell finds a way to develop this squad as well.
  16. Depressingly bad offense. JMU just showed how to beat us since we’re a horrible shooting team with no inside presence. I was going to drive the 4 hrs to UConn. Probably scrapping that idea now.
  17. Don't forget about our linemen. They were absolutely pathetic on both sides of the ball. Our DLine only accounted for 7 tackles on a day where the other team ran the ball 36x. People always love to brag about Patterson and Dolac's tackles per game but that only happens because our linemen can't tackle for $hit. And on the other side the OLine gave our receivers absolutely no time to get open and every downfield pass was subsequently thrown too early. OT#74 in particular was burned about 100x by the DE. It was amateur hour in the trenches once again and very similar to the Ohio game. I'm souring on Mo after some of the decision making yesterday. We sucked the life out of CMU up until they finally get a score to make it 24-14. On the ensuing possession we decide to go for it on 4th and 3 at our own 36... Why? I'm fine being aggressive on 4th downs when you're up but when you have a big lead you don't let the other team off the mat. It was just an incredibly disappointing game. I thought we'd come back to life after looking like crap against Ohio but that second half was the worst display of UB football I've seen in quite a few years.
  18. We don't hand the ball off. We just keep running those terrible read options with a QB who is not very fast or shifty. Snyder had 16 carries and only handed the ball off 12 times last week. I wish we'd just give it to the RB and mix up the blocking schemes.
  19. OK, where the hell was that the last 2 seasons? The defensive intensity was phenomenal. Quick hands all over the place with 12 steals on a team that moves the ball pretty well. The counter attacks were impressive too. It felt like a Buffalo basketball game from a few years ago. The only difference was our half court offense seemed a bit out of control and our shooting (despite a misleadingly high % from layups) was pretty mediocre with a bunch of missed runners. They'll get better as the season goes on but WOW I was beyond impressed with the first showing. It's only 1 game but if this keeps up I'll gladly say I was wrong about Whitesell. One more thing, if Yazid Powell continues to play like that he will be up for MAC POTY.
  20. I don't understand why you keep comparing these coaches by simply looking at their overall win-loss records. In my mind they are wildly different: - Boals inherited a sub-500 team that forced the prior coach, Saul Phillips, out of a job. His teams have shown constant growth in his 3 years with records of 17-15, 17-7 and 25-10 and he's managed to not only win the MAC but win in the NCAA tournament as well. - Groce may be a slightly better comparison while at Akron but he took over a bare bones roster with only 3 returning players with any minutes after being fired by Illinois. He took a few years to install his system after Dambrot's Reggie-Ball style but he's shown a ton of progress and he won the MAC last year. Don't forget he took Ohio to the Sweet 16 a few years back. - Whitesell was literally hired to maintain an insanely talented roster and while I give him credit for doing so, he also managed to completely dismantle our blue collar system of defensive intensity and counter attacks. He squandered that talent and the team showed minimal growth over his 3 years ending with 0 MAC Championships and 2 horrendous first round upsets. I just don't see the comparison. 2 teams have shown growth and development while the other has completely lost its identity. It's beyond simple wins and losses.
  21. You can't fault him for taking the next step as long as he doesn't take the entire coaching staff, 8 of our best players, and duck out before Spring practice begins. Only a complete a$$hole would do that.
  22. - 49 pass attempts to only 28 rushes. In the 5 wins prior, we averaged 30 pass attempts to 43 rushes. Maybe it's best that we focus on establishing a running game instead of chucking the ball 40 yards down the sideline on the first play of the game. - 57% of our rushes came from our damn QB and he finished the day with -7 yards on 16 carries. He's been averaging a whopping 1.5ypc this year so I guess we thought it was smart to run him over 2x all other running backs combined... We are wayyyy overcommitted to the damn read option. - Sacks were 6 to 0 in favor of Ohio (probably why Snyder ended with such awful stats). This game was lost on bad offensive playcalling/decision making and both lines getting their a$$es handed to them.
  23. News flash, there isn't a coach in the country who wants to build a program like Buffalo up for the long term. Every single one of them would move up if given the chance. Stop screaming at Mo. He's actually been pretty impressive imo given the train wreck he inherited.
  24. 27 rush attempts for 31 yards and you think this is entirely on the QB? There’s no balance in the offense due to the OLine getting their asses handed to them.
