  1. A few other publications have her as a 2nd rounder.
  2. It seems like by Thursday it will still be cold and blustery but not much new snow falling.
  3. A good balanced effort on the offensive end...if Morrison can consistently play to this level and stay on the floor for long stretches and out of foul trouble, I like our chances in the conference. When we score 91 points and have a comfortable lead nearly the entire way, it is tough to fault the defense as it is a bit natural to not dig in as hard on every single possession when you are up 15-20 and getting whatever you want on offense. It would be nice to see a few more stops but the way the most of top teams in this conference play(UB, Ohio, Central) the games to decide the MAC will likely be high scoring. The exception to this is Toledo, who knocked off Central last night. They seem to play at a slower pace this season with more ball control. The schedule worked out favorably this season in that we have both Toledo and NIU at home. With already having won MAC West games at Eastern and Western, UB should be in good shape if we take care of our home games. A very tough stretch in early February starting with at Central but the three big games immediately following are at home to Toledo, Kent and Central.
  4. Hoping the women can ride the momentum of the late game heroics in Western into two home win this week. NIU is solid but is a team we should match-up well against. On the road at Ball next Tuesday is also a game we should win as Ball is struggling big time this season. If we play up to our ability, that should set up a 7-1 battle at Central next Saturday. It seems like Autumn Jones may be back in the mix as she played some crunch time minutes against Western, although 0-7 from the field. It will likely be a tough battle for a top 4 seed as there are about 6 or 7 teams looking decent thus far...coupled with CMU and UB much closer to the pack this season.
  5. What I don't understand is why these players feel they will have a better opportunity at a different school, particularly one that has not been a top program for quite some time. This isn't a player moving up a level from FCS or D2 to FBS where they may need to prove themselves against better competition. There are plentiful examples of MAC players, whether drafted highly or not, getting to the league and sticking in the league. KJ was already an NFL prospect because of the talent he possesses. In today's landscape, players are seen by everyone...if you are good enough, everyone knows it regardless of where you play. I guess I just do not know what he, and many others, expect will happen once they play for a different program. NFL teams are not going to have an "Ah ha" moment if KJ has a few good performances for Miami much more so, if any, than they would if he stayed at UB. The only position I could somewhat agree with making a move like this, in certain circumstances, is QB. In my opinion, for a player like KJ, the odds are just as good that his stock may drop as they are that they will rise.
  6. I would like to see Adeyeye get a bit more time. Clearly she is raw and will make some mistakes but she could be a big part of the solution on the rebounding front. UB gave up too many 2nd and 3rd chances against Ohio who finally took advantage in the 3rd quarter. Morrison has been decent when on the floor but has gotten into foul trouble a fair amount. I would much rather see Adeyeye spell her in the post than Wilkins...Wilkins just isn't a paint presence and is particularly suspect defensively. When Morrison and Wilkins both fouled out and Coach was forced to go to her, I felt Adeyeye played admirably late in the 4th and in OT given she hadn't stepped on the floor the entire game. On multiple occasions, Hooks drove right around Wilkins as the last defender with ease...at least Adeyeye would likely challenge the shot. Even with Dillard struggling from the field, UB was still in position to win the game but let many opportunities on the offensive end go begging. Onwuka seemed particularly nervous/rushed when she had the ball in her hands in the 2nd half in this game. This team still has the talent to win the conference but has to play more to their strengths on a consistent basis.
  7. Kitty Hoynes and Pastabilities both have some good food downtown. Also, Middle Ages is my go-to spot for beers.
  8. Cuse is averaging right around 70ppg, a bit more I believe like 71 or 71.5. This seems like a game that will be played in the high 60's/low 70's, much like the SIU game Saturday. I like the matchup of Jordan and Carruthers defending the Cuse ball dominant guards. The game will likely come down to if UB shoots well from the outside. If we shoot a high percentage, or even an average percentage, from three, I like our chances. Battle and Brissett will get their 15-18 points but UB's depth should be enough to keep everyone else for Cuse under wraps.
  9. Jones looked better offensively on Saturday....unfortunately it is just something we will have to live with as she is a streaky shooter but is very capable of putting up 20+ on a given night when she gets hot. Last season I seem to remember Jones took a while to get going but had some big games in conference. To me, they have already competed just fine against good teams...beating SD St and Georgetown along with a respectable showing at Oregon. Dayton is solid, they are just 2-5 but have respectable losses to Maryland and South Carolina but also not so great showings against two of the better mid-majors, Green Bay and JMU.
  10. With all the adversity and shooting woes, this team is still winning...and winning against some good teams. Unfortunately, Dillard can't take every shot. The team continues to work very hard defensively and consistently comes up with timely steals and/or deflections. SDSU already holds a win over Central and was the #2 mid-major coming in to this weekend...UB was #3. These two wins could go a long way towards a potential at-large bid. If the team can avoid any slip-ups on the road against CCSU and Canisius, the game at Dayton could provide a third quality non-conference win. If the team could get out of non-conference play at 9-2 and then follow up with a conference season similar to last year, they would have a very strong case for an at-large IMO. Even an 8-3 record and close loss to Dayton with a 1-3 loss conference season should still have the team in the at-large conversation if need be.
  11. He looked to be walking fine in the handshake line....seems to be just precautionary but one can never be completely sure.
  12. The now wide-spread availability of games on tv and/or streaming services should not be discounted. I believe every men's game and nearly every women's game, including all home games for both, are being shown live on either a major sports network or ESPN3/ESPN+.
  13. Are you referring to the ability of Reid and Oursler at their position or overall? This program has never had a player with the pure scoring ability and variety of ways to score as Dillard.
  14. What high school gym(s) look or feel similar to Alumni?
  15. The parking should be fine once winter break begins. The only remedy would be to specifically block off one or two additional lots on game days (weeknight games when classes are in session is the big issue) for the general public and have to charge $. Unfortunately this would be a burden on students in class as parking on the south side of campus is already brutal, even on non-game nights.
  16. If I remember correctly, Coach Jack and staff has had the program as a whole at a very high level of gpa. One can never say for sure regarding an individual's own situation but hopefully this was a one time thing and Summer will be back ready for conference play.
  17. The flashes were there for Williams...huge block in the first half, just missing on a few dunks but keeping with the plays. He is a different type of talent than we have ever really had and the good news is he basically has a season to figure everything out with all of the veterans we have this year.
  18. Same here...tremendous defensive presence all game, just made it a chore for St Francis to bring to ball up all game.
  19. If we hit the open threes, the zone won't work...we had plenty of them yesterday. Finally hit a few in a row in the 2nd half and that put the game away. St Francis is good guard based team. While we may not have looked as polished offensively yet, the defense already looked improved on a possession to possession basis and the pace of play is still there. There were multiple instances where St Francis hit a contested three or drive and we pushed the ball right back up the court and scored. All in all, a satisfying opener, especially considering we have 11 guys that can provide legit minutes and lineup combos take some time to sort out.
  20. The Mountain West is not included in the poll.
