  1. I have troubles getting connected with Horns-Up in the Arena. I've tried to connect to the "UB Connect" WIFI but no success.
  2. Happens several times a season at UB (mostly with Men's games). Somebody usually (quickly) finds it behind the UB bench. It's not like they can "hide" it.
  3. Some updates on the 2021 men's transfers: Malik Zachery (South Plains College): 24 games. 13.9 minutes per game. 7.9 points per game. 3.7 rebounds per game. Tranferred to UTEP where he has 2 points in 14 minutes. 1 of 5 from the field. 1 rebound. Savion Gallion (South Plains College): 32 games. 14.6 minutes per game. 9.9 points per game. 2.8 rebounds per game. Transfered to ULM where he has 9 points in 24 minutes. 1 rebound. Chanse Robinson (Grambling State): 9 games. 9.9 minutes per game. 3.4 points per game. 0.7 rebounds per game. No longer on team (Faces kidnapping and assault charges) So Zachery and Gallion are now at their third school in 3 years. Chanse is probably in prison somewhere. I assume the rule of sitting out a year is long since gone. When does a player have to sit out?
  4. With all the transfers last season, I figured I'd see how they were doing after one (or two games): (Former) UB Men Josh Mballa (Ole Miss): 3 points in 13 minutes with 6 rebounds and a technical. Ty Perry (New Haven): No scheduled games until November 16th. Lucas Saleh (Belmont Abbey): No scheduled games until November 11th. Tra'Von Fagan (UMBC): 12 points in 25 minutes. 3 of 7 from the field with 6 rebounds. David Skogman (Davidson): 12 points in 21 minutes. 4 of 7 from the field. One of 3 from 3 point. (Former) UB Women Dyaisha Fair (Syracuse): 18 points in 36 minutes. 7 of 21 FG and 2 of 8 for 3PT. Georgia Woolley (Syracuse): 8 points in 17 minutes. Saniaa Wilson (Syracuse): 5 points in 10 minutes. Cheyenne McEvans (Syracuse): Did Not Play Dominique Camp (Akron): 2 points on 12 minutes. Adebola Adeyeye (Kentucky): 6 points in 20 minutes. 2 of 3 from the field. 9 rebounds. Loren Christie (USF): 5 points in 13 minutes. 1 of 1 from the field. Nia Jordan (Bethune-Cookman): 4 points in 17 minutes. 2 of 3 from the field. 2 rebounds. Casey Valenti Paea (Long Beach State): No scheduled games until November 10th. Kaelonn Wilson (Binghamton): 2 minutes. 1 Foul. No other stats. Interesting comment on the 'Cuse website about Wilson: Prior to Syracuse (Buffalo 2021-2022): Appeared in 14 games for the Bills … Averaged 3.6 points per game and 4.4 rebounds. What happened to Elea Gaba (not that I'll miss her)? Not on the roster this year nor do I find her transferring. Besides maybe Skogman, Fair and Adeyeye, I wouldn't say any of these transfers are doing so well. Fagan is also doing well. I know, it's still early. So sad these days that players transfer so much. Camp was showing promise here. Just look at Marissa Hamilton from a few years ago. A local article says: Marissa Hamilton always dreamed of playing Division I basketball and professionally overseas. Transfered to NAIA Southeastern and then never played. Sat out 2 years and then "transferred" to Merrimack College (where her former teammate Brittany Morrison is an assistant coach). Had 11 points in 32 minutes. Nice showing. Why does everybody feel the grass is always greener somewhere else. For the record, I've never been a Dyaisha Fair fan. She takes too many bad shots and seems to be a "me-first" player. Also never smiles.
  5. During the Daemen game, one of the UB women did something wrong. I couldn't tell what it was. I think the player was celebrating on a basket and then immediately gave up an easy basket. Coach immediately called a timeout and was in her face. Yelled at her for about 15 seconds. I couldn't tell who she was yelling at. Too many UB players in the area as they were going to the bench. I know it's normal for coaches to yell at players but I found it odd and wondered how the players took it. Jack seemed to yell at her players alot and it appears the players still liked her.
  6. I was very surprised how empty the season ticket area was especially sections 101-105. But it was great to see the student section filled in. Most of the season ticket holders around me in 113 seem like they didn't renew and/or were a no-show. With that said, the crowd really got into it especially near the end.
  7. Very entertaining game. They need to work on their defense. Too many easy layups. They got blacked off by alot of ball screens. 54% free throw shooting isn't good. Why was the band, cheerleaders, and dazzlers "flipped" in the end section. I always thought the bad was supposed to be close to the visiting team to cause problems during timeouts. Why move them away?
  8. I thought Mballa showed some good signs on offense after his first season. I was disappointed in his last 2 seasons. He also had a drop off in minutes and rebounds. He just didn't seem to have the intensity. At Ole' Miss, in his first game, he only played 6 minutes and scores 2 points.
  9. I'd love to know where the Alumni are now but there are alot and that could be a "fulltime" job tracking them down. A few that come to mind are Yassin Ibhini and Mitchel Watt. Yassin is my "brush with greatness" moment. Saw him playing "putt-putt" with his girlfriend/wife. Played at UB from 2003-2007. Played in Europe and then retired in 2017. Mitchell Watt was playing at UB from 2008-2012. It appears he's still playing in Italy for Reye Venezia. I'm sure there are others.
  10. Winning share is determined prior to the tournament. I'm sure the ones that are getting more money are then played more often. Would have been nice to see Harris play more. McRae and Ford, not so much. Probably could of had fewer players on the roster. I just feel bad for those that didn't play (much).
  11. Curious why Davonta Jordan only played in 2 games for a total of 12 minutes. Also surprise the prize money wasn't divided evenly among all the players.
  12. So, women's game at 1pm. Men's game at 4pm. Single ticket for both? Why? Why the hour between games instead of the usual 30 minutes? I assume I'll not be allowed to leave the arena and reenter between games. There is only so much warmup I can watch.
  13. I came across this article: tuscon.com Looks like Hurley is in the hotseat.
  14. Let me state the obvious. No energy especially for the first 3 quarters. I'm not a big zone fan but I understand the need to go to it to save energy. But, they just couldn't get out to defend the 3-point shot. Gave up 10 3 point shots to Ball State. And only made 4 themselves. Fair also started out slow with her shooting but ended up 7 of 20 from the field. Field scoring for her by quarters: 1st Quarter: 1-4, 2nd Quarter: 1-3, 3rd Quarter: 2-6 and 4th Quarter: 3-7. Only 1 of 4 from three point range. Early on, she was too long on most shots. Too much adrenaline. Like previous years, she tries to do too much when she thinks she needs to carry the team. She does much better on fast-break layups but she missed a few of them too. She also seemed to have a noticeable limp at the end of the game after a hard fall. Went with the usual 5 starters (Woolley, Fair, Christie, Hemphill, Camp). Each had over 37 minutes of game time but Keita got 9 minutes mostly in the first half. I'm still having troubles understand while they aren't going to the bench (e.g. Jordan, Valenti-Paea and more Keita). Great Free Throw shooting. 16 of 17. Woolley and Chistie had a great night shooting. That 60 foot shot by Ball State for 3 points at the end of the half was a killer for UB. Did they give her the $100 Delta Sonic gift card? Why was Coach Jack mopping the floor during one of the media timeouts. Being funny or just unhappy with the hired help? UB didn't get the breaks on the foul calls. Ball State was running into UB players (also over the back) all game and never were called.
  15. I would cringe every time Hurley yelled at the officials in that he'd get another Technical at a crucial point in the game. I don't have the numbers but he seemed to get T-ed up every few games. He just couldn't control his anger (at the officials) no matter how minor the "issue" he had with them. Is he any better now? Arizona State hasn't been doing well the past 2 years. 17-25 overall and 9-16 in conference. I think his name isn't helping his recruiting (any more) especially if the team isn't winning.
  16. Looked like her right knee. Looks like she just landed on it wrong. Went right to the dressing room.
  17. They have lost the last 2 games. Lost 66 to 68 to Ohio. Short bench again. And Fair has only shot 8 of 37 in the last two games, 2 of 12 from three point line. The team only shot 4 of 23 from the 3 point line. Very short bench again. Tough schedule to only be playing 6 players.
  18. I was just wondering the other day if Bobby Hurley is still getting his Technicals for arguing with the officials. I did a quick search the past few games and found nothing. But, then I came across this where he gets fined for arguing with the officials just a few days ago: Article And here are the few key moments: Hurley Technical Foul on 3-point shot End of Game He will never change. Arizona State's record is 6-10 and 2-4 in conference.
  19. Where is the bench? You'd think they'd play a few minutes give the schedule over the next 2 weeks especially near the end of the game yesterday. So far this year, only 10 have got minutes and that includes McEvans and Young. Leaving only 8. What is the status on the others: Jazmine Young (Senior): Left the Team Cheyenne McEvans (Sophomore): Injured? Nia Jordan (Junior): Played less than a minute, 56 minutes so far this year. Casey Valenti-Paea (Sophomore): No minutes yet this year Laney Bone (Freshman): No minutes yet this year Saniaa Wilson (Freshman): No minutes yet this year Ramatoulay Keita (Redshirt Sophomore): No minutes and 48 minutes so far this year. Kaelonn Wilson (Freshman): No minutes yet this year Elea Gaba (Junior): Injured? No Minutes this year Also, any update on Young or McEvans? What is McEvans' injury?
  20. The lack of a point guard really showed. The ball seemed more like a hot potato without much flow.
  21. I'm a little confused by this. Are they the same charges from a year ago or are these new charges. If they are the same charges, wouldn't Grambling know about them when he transferred. Also, why is "playing in a game" while waiting trial cause to have a warrant issued.
  22. Not sure where you got your NFTA Route Planner link from but this is the correct link: https://metro.nfta.com/schedules/plan-your-trip Looks to me to be a 20 minute bus trip on the UB bus from North to South Campus and then another 20 minutes downtown by subway. 40-50 minutes to get downtown seems reasonable to me. With that said, I don't think most UB Students would make the trek. Hard enough to get them to show up for on-campus games.
  23. Canisius looked like a high-school team. 26% from the field (1 of 14 in the 4th quarter) and 27 TOs. What is the reason Canisius only dressed 9? Also, why didn't UB empty the bench (5 didn't see any minutes). I always feel bad (especially in a blowout) when players don't play. Also, where is Gaba?
  24. I know this is old news Keowa Walters transferred to VCU: WOMEN'S BASKETBALL WELCOMES KEOWA WALTERS - Virginia Commonwealth University (vcuathletics.com) Also, Marissa Hamilton transferred a couple years ago to NAIA and then immediate quit the program: Hamilton to transfer from UB to NAIA Southeastern | Olean | oleantimesherald.com Mid-level players seem to transfer and expect the world and then reality hits. While I'm at it, what happened to Elea Gaba? I didn't see her last night. Not that I see her as being a big impact player (unless she's in better shape). As was said earlier, I also hope Fair is a better team player. Didn't watch her much last year but the year before, she felt "she" needed to be the one doing all the "plays". She also never seems happy with a scowl on her face.
  25. To that point, Fair has 494 points so far this season (33.2% of the total team scoring). The next highest points goes to McEvans with 189 points (12.7%). Hall only has 149 points. Fair last year had 30.6% of the teams total points. Dillard was 20.7% of the scoring her Junior year (Reid was doing the scoring) and 33.1% her senior year. For the past several years, the team has only had one good scorer and not much else. What happened to Hall? She's not scoring much and has been getting less minutes lately. I also think it was a mistake for Marissa Hamilton to leave UB (and then drop out of Southeastern University). I guess she had misplaced "pro" ambitions. Not sure the full story on her. Gaba looked bad and overweight last year. I guess she's doing better this year but I'd still would rather have had Hamilton. They also miss the drive and determination of Onwuka.
