  1. Anyone see that wild ending to the Kent state JMU game? Crazy finish in the first OT. https://www.espn.com/video/clip/_/id/38859656
  2. Who is Trilly Donovan? Legit question.
  3. I almost don’t even count it. Plus the following year we made the MAC final. After that is when the cracks in the foundation began to show. Whitesell couldn’t win enough big games against the top conference teams. Which showed his inabilities to coach. And he brought in the wrong players. Whitesell inherited a championship caliber team and once he failed to do so in that window, it was a wrap.
  4. To me having the student section behind the baskets is lame and not good for visibility. Not visibility in the sense of vantage point but recognition, intimidation etc. When alumni became bougie and moved the students from behind the benches to the ends, that to me is when they lost interest. As for the game…one of many. I’ve refrained from jumping in on prediction threads bc I really have no expectations for this team. I want to see them win obviously. But I want to see a foundation laid and progress as the season moves along. But I echo most of the sentiments stated. Especially those regarding defense and PG.
  5. Nice win to kick off the year for the ladies. Trailed for most of the game then got going in the 4th. Withstood one last charge then executed to seal the win. Your turn fellas.
  6. https://x.com/goodmanhoops/status/1721581896134488235?s=46&t=abJ5kxCYL0d_Jx1Z5-jZcA Info about Graham
  7. St. John’s lost to pace. Fire Pitino. Louisville lost to some D2 school or something. Point is…here some are freaking out about barely beating Daemen. Wake me up when the regular season starts.
  8. I can believe we are talking about male cheerleaders. Lol. This has already gotten more time than it needs lol. @dj_paige Adams to me is gonna be depended on to be a leader, as an upperclassman. Smith is what he is, junkyard scrap player. Play defense, get boards and put backs. Can’t really depend on him for consistent scoring. What you got last night is what you could hope for. Maybe a few more boards. I’m surprised by Zaakir. At some point we need to see what he’s about. He’s been here for 3 years. I need to see something, anything, from him.
  9. LOL. I laugh for many reasons. But why is this even included lol
  10. An exhibition game in which we had to fight back to win…I’ll take that any day of the week over a 50 point showboat fest. This builds character. Let’s keep it in perspective…it was an exhibition and the first game for the coaching staff and most of this roster. Rome wasn’t built in a day. Summer is over, now the real work begins.
  11. https://x.com/verbalcommits/status/1712534820453233143?s=46&t=abJ5kxCYL0d_Jx1Z5-jZcA Just wonderful
  12. No hate. This is probably a role most suited for him. Good luck to him. Would love to play Albany at a mutual location. Would be cool.
  13. https://x.com/ubuffalombb/status/1699135454992380155?s=46&t=abJ5kxCYL0d_Jx1Z5-jZcA Non conference schedule is out. My one issue is the home date against some guy named Roberts Wesleyan. Would rather face anyone team than that dude.

  15. The transfer portal is similar to one and dones. Every year you’re essentially forming a new team. If this is the route he wants to go then more power to him. As we are seeing, there’s a bunch of ways to form a team. But more important, is winning. If you don’t win none of it matters. If you win players, regardless if they are transfers or high schoolers, will want to play for you.
  16. The crazy thing is that this is all football driven. Look at Oregon State and Wazu. Left behind by almost everyone in the PAC 12 and they might have to join the Mountain West. And if they do they will have to cut other athletic programs bc of the 30 million dollar annual loss of tv revenue. Here’s an idea…let football be its own thing.
  17. Your ideas are noble. But I just think in reality when it comes to money…every party is greedy. The school, NCAA, conferences, coaches, collectives themselves and now players. Money breeds corruption. So unfortunately as long as money is involved nobility goes out the window. I hear ya, when I read that Jones went off for over 30 it leaves me wishing he was still here. But in a world where long time rivalries are getting chucked to the side for conference conglomeration we as fans are viewed as the suckers who will tune in no matter. All while everyone else’s pockets get fat. Wouldn’t shock me if the newly formed mega conferences broke away from the NCAA in 5 years. Seems like we are trending in that direction
  18. I think you are forgetting one major thing…schools do not receive money to then pay players. Example: If I’m a billionaire who wants to pay players to go to UB, I go directly to the player. I don’t give money to the school. Money goes directly to players from boosters or collectives. Obviously there’s gray area there (backdoor winks and nods) but schools don’t have funds that then are given to select players. That’s not how NIL works. To me this is nothing new. It just brings everything to light. Example: Miami, FL basketball. This is getting into the weeds but schools can’t pay players bc then technically they become employees. Then you get into a whole heap of other issues like state vs private. Unionization. Bla bla bla. I find it funny that NIL has pissed off everyone. Even Nick Saban. To me that tells you it’s working. I also find it funny that the minute players make some money, the schools and NCAA right away want their cut. And if they can’t get a cut they wanna curtail NIL. As if the schools and NCAA haven’t been hoarding all the money all these decades. As if Saban doesn’t make over 10 million a year. He’s just mad he can’t hoard all the good players anymore. In its simplest form NIL gives a player, from any sport, the chance to make money off their name, image and likeness. For big schools who have rich alum you get what we are seeing play out. But for smaller schools it’s on the individual player to seek out deals for themselves and local businesses to perhaps partner with players. And over time you hope a collective is formed.
  19. All this is fine until the sun belt loses its biggest teams. Again this is the crossroads where you either think progressively or get left behind. If you think regionally you’re getting left behind. Sorry but this is where the landscape has moved
  20. It’s this thinking that widens the gap between the haves and have nots. We live in an era where you either get with it or you get left behind. As this relates to UB, the AD should be looking forward. Not to stay status quo. It’s only a matter of time before the power conferences completely break away and form their own league. I’d want for UB to be part of that. It’s a multi step process but the first step is not getting left behind in whatever is transpiring now.
  21. Bc the leaders of the MAC are idiots and usually reactive rather than proactive. Mid major conferences should be looking to form a conference of the best mid majors. And that’s where UB should go. It’s the only way to stay afloat. Gone are geographical conferences. It’s all about money and tv deals.
  22. Get some Nate. Hopefully he catches on. But if not he makes the best of the opportunity and gets a solid hardworking reputation around the league that could land him other opportunities.
