  1. Correct. This was just his 2nd season. He has been an assistant at WMU at different times since 2000.
  2. Agree. Our thoughts and prayers for Coach Q and family. A candle will be lit today for his family.
  3. That is the crazy and exciting aspect of basketball and sports in general. It does really come down to a lot of if’s. Who is going to have a good or great shooting day, who will shoot better from the free throw line among other factors. Sometimes the biggest IF of them all is the officiating. For all the supposed experience and the supposed trying to learn from their mistakes so many games can be decided by questionable calls. That is the agony and ecstasy of sports. I was watching the Iowa/Indiana women’s game and their were several calls in the last 2 minutes that all went Iowa’s way and the fans were booing like crazy and of course Iowa won. So many factors go into win or lose and of course after the game it is easy to analyze what should or should not of been done. Still has been a great time for our teams over the last number of years. Go Bulls!!!
  4. I guess it is a moot point now and I was probably not deciphering all the rules the MAC came up with but my opinion it is asinine and the supposed intellectuals had their heads in the clouds. Again if that was their reasoning all games should of been made up. Stupid is as stupid does. Go Bulls!!!
  5. Great ending to a great home season 14-1 home season!!! Another great team win with Fair only scoring 2 points. Good games by all players to compensate for Fair’s off game. UB’s defensive intensity rally picked up at the start of the 3rd quarter really shutting down Bowling Green’s 3 point shooting. The most enthusiastic crowd of the year and looking forward to Cleveland. Can anyone answer the question on final MAC standings?? It shows Ohio in 8th spot playing Toledo in Cleveland. Final MAC standings show Kent State in 6th but not making the tourney with Ohio at 9-10 and in 9th spot?? Did I miss something?? Go Bulls!!!
  6. With no seniors this should be a scary team next year. After watching the game and not thinking they are as good as they showed I looked into their stats. They had quite a few MAC games where they shot over 50%. They shot 48% from the field and about 38% from 3’s for the year so they are as good as they looked. They do remind me of our great teams where they keep coming at you in waves and keep hammering away. Even though we have had success we are no where like them. Again if we face them again I can’t see them shooting like close to 60% for a large portion of the game and not sure we have the quickness and defensive intensity to stop them. Still looking forward to Cleveland to see if we can overcome some of our weaknesses. Go Bulls!!!!
  7. Agree. Too bad the vaccine and mask mandate is still on. Called the MAC arena in Cleveland and they said no vaccine mandate and masks are recommended but not mandatory. Go Bulls!!!
  8. Agree. I don’t think UB has tried to sell the program to the public as considering they are suppose to have some marketing people who understand our market. Too late now but no promotions on arena concessions or even ticket discounts. Looking forward to positive vibes tonight from team and fans. Go Bulls!!!
  9. Oh Yah!! Memories the last few years with packed arenas with students in both ends and standing room only!! Big games against the top teams should bring out the crowd enthusiasm. Go Bulls!!!
  10. Take a wild guess what kind of article or write up in the buffalo news today about UB!!! None, Nota, zip!!! Time to start calling the news again and listen to their reasons. Venting frustration every once in awhile sometimes is good for the soul. Go Bulls!!!
  11. Do agree. An exciting month and great overall stats and in some cases not jumping out to all fans. They continue to win in spite of having stretches in games that are not pretty. A sign of a team not going in panic or frustrating mode. A very exciting time for both our teams with Williams accolades and for the women both Fair and Woolley in the running for player of the year and freshman of the year. Hope to see the biggest crowds of the year for both teams. Go Bulls!!!
  12. I do 100% agree. Our family has been saying to enjoy both these teams this year and really not trying to compare these teams to the previous teams. We were unsure of how our women’s team was going to be when Reid and company and then Dillard left but here we are with another very successful season. For the men the same scenario with all the quality players with Hurley and Oats and we were wondering how it was going to play out. Here we are again with another successful and competitive team albeit with different type players that are not as consistent as we have become accustomed to. Have been and will continue to support our teams and we already have our reservations for Cleveland. Go Bulls!!!
  13. I am sure that the coach does and can make a difference in many aspects but CMU over the last couple years started to lose the main core of players that in most cases played all the minutes in a game and then they had a good 6-8 core that could contribute with not much of a drop off. This year the reserve players except for two are now the main players without them not getting positive contributions from the bench. Hard to imagine how we would be this year without some players like Hemphill, Adeyeye and a a player like Fair. It really comes down to your recruiting and if you can hit on some players and good case is a player like Woolley who started out slowly but now is one of our three bet players. Go Bulls!!!
  14. Another good road win with some continued good play from Christie who had a very good first quarter with slow starts from Fair and Woolley. Summer had another strong rebounding game along with 15 points. Good overall game from Fair again with Woolley having a tough shooting game. Another 20 win season and 14-4 in conference. Let’s keep the momentum going with another road win against Akron and hope to see the biggest crowd for our last home game on Saturday against Bowling Green. Go Bulls!!!
  15. Another good win with a good shooting game from Williams. The big three of Segu, Williams and Mballa just like the big three of the women continue to play very good especially in crunch time. For all of the concerns early in the season the men have found their mojo. They are ranked in the top three in the MAC rebounding, scoring and field goal percentage defense. They are 4th in the nation offensive rebounding percentage and 32nd in 3 point defense holding foes to 30%. For all of the in some cases of defensive lapses they have seemed to find the importance of playing defense. An eight game win streak is a great sign for our momentum to continue. I do think the entire team has continued to show positive vibes and am looking forward to the remaining games and Cleveland. Go Bulls!!!
  16. Good observation. I seen the same that you seen. They really did not appear like their teams from the last few years as just like CMU thy have lost some of their better and more experienced players. A number of other teams we have played have had bigger and more athletic front lines that have given us trouble in the post. Go Bulls!!!
  17. I guess all we can do is state facts and some stats and see how the game plays out.Continue to have positive vibes and optimism. After all the stats and which can or can’t mean a lot that is why they still play the game for our enjoyment I hope. Go Bulls!!!
  18. Agree. Announced crowd around 1300 seemed like more than that and was loud and energized. A good game from our big three again and good to see Hemphill be more involved on the offensive side with 19 points and 19 rebounds. Good supporting roles by Christie, Adeyeye and Camp with 6/7 rebounds each. Not sure why Wilson and Gaba did not get a few minutes. Sort of a strange game defensively as we played a soft zone allowing Ohio to drive into the foul line area and Ohio either not taking the open shot or passing back out to the perimeter. Ohio missed many of their shots for three quarters but heated up in the fourth and we started playing a more active zone. Ohio got back into the game due to our 18 turnovers that I hope we can clean up going intoCleveland. Just a great accomplishment being 13-1 at home and hope to see a bigger crowd for our last home game against Bowling Green with a enthusiastic goodbye to our seniors. Go Bulls!!!
  19. NIU only 1-6 at home and being outscored in 1st half by 140 points and they are averaging 65 points per game. If we continue our momentum from the last games we should win. Go Bulls!!!
  20. Do agree. Ohio always a tough matchup for us. Ohio has two really quality players in Hooks and Johnson who are matchup problems for us. Probably will see some zone defense by us. Ohio will be losing two of their best players in Hooks and Burris after this year and wonder if they will fall like CMU has this year. A very good article in the Buffalo News on Woolley and even the men’s game recap. Finally some decent coverage by the News. On many days the News does not even put in that our teams are playing especially the women!!!. Hope for a big crowd tonight and especially from the student body!! Go Bulls!!
  21. Good to hear from you guys again. Always very good insights and always some food for thought. Do agree about the team playing much better especially with Mballa and I think Jack has shown definite upside in many of the games. He has been able to hit some shots and has shown more energy especially on the rebounding end. Would be great to see a sweep in the last few games and positive energy going to Cleveland. Go Bulls!!
  22. Agree. It was a fun weekend with the HOF inductees especially Kourtney Brown and recalling her great play. Fun Saturday seeing both the women and men win their games that they were supposed to win. Another very good game for both Fair and Woolley leading the way again along with the best game out of Christie. Coach Jack continues to try and play more players and try and find the right mix of reserves. Young played quite a few minutes but did struggle with her ball handling and shot selection and not sure if Camp was injured with her limited minutes. The men’s game started out like the recent home loss to Ohio but to their credit overcame their terrible start and did not panic and did not show total frustration. A great sign to see Mballa become the player we all envisioned. Hope to see both teams continue their good play and win the MAC tourney. Go Bulls!!!
  23. I do agree.I have seen this in many games this year where exactly what you are saying and especially after a timeout where that should be in the coaching strategy???Go Bulls!!!
  24. Nice win by the women tonight after they lost at home. 31 points by Fair and some key shots in the 4th quarter that sealed the game. Still not a good shooting percentage but was 11-14 from the line. Fair and Woolley still playing almost the entire game but with a full roster now Coach Jack is able to rest Summer a bit which should help for the remaining games. Not able to watch the game tonight we must of played a good defensive game as Ball State was 4-26 from the 3 point line and had 18 turnovers. Camp and Young are able to share minutes on the point and Wilson, Gaba along with Christie can give us some quality minutes down low, Adeyeye has returned the last two games with some limited minutes so not sure that she is back being 100% yet. Hope we can get a big turnout for the doubleheader on Saturday especially from the students, Go Bulls!!!
  25. Iv’e noticed in some of the last few games Whitesell has seemed more engaged especially with the officials and during certain times in games that can play to our advantage and hope that continues. Does anyone else notice how much Quarles is involved with the coaching strategy with both Whitesell and the players?? I don’t think it was like that in the earlier part of the year. Go Bulls!!!
