3’s and at the rim. The amount of long contested 2’s I watched GHIII’s guys shoot drove me nuts. This coupled with the horrendous defense with slower perimeter players was a perfect recipe for the season we had.

What a fun brand of basketball! Would love a team that played like that. Oh that’s right….ADMA passed on Hodgson for GHIII. Horrible!

What’s the path forward?

The recruiting by this staff is underwhelming. As incredible as it is, I actually feel worse about our chances next year than I did at the end of the season.

Appears to be unranked by all recruiting services. Can someone share other offers that he has?

U r not wrong IMO. Coming in a little hot, but have to weigh the handful of positives, albeit there is not too much that gets me excited. Their style of play and their current recruiting are pretty bad. The vibe around GHIII appears non existent. He appears so disconnected.

While BB is not waiting until May bringing in a solid transfer. Much different vibe with the WBB team. Don’t feel like much patience is justified IMO.

I read about their Blue A Collective which wasn’t announced until September 2023. But no arguments here with SUNY and athletics.

New coach at Utah State and not a single retuning player! There are no excuses for what happened this year with UB MBB. This example also suggests that the expectations for next year should be very high. Utah State and Buffalo’s athletic budgets are very similar. Based on what I’ve been able to read, there is a small collective, but nothing significant.

And slow and non athletic. The guard play in the MAC has normally been good. Give me some guys with some athleticism.

Who thinks we should extend GHIII?

The number of recruits brought in by this staff that are not rated by the recruiting services is shocking. I was at a game about a month ago when I told the person next to me that I could beat McVeigh one on one. Truth is he’d beat me 9 out of 10, but I could get him once. The difference between the types of athletes and players today compared to the golden era is stark.

Like many players on this roster, he’s a great depth piece on a good team.

The women finished the year at 185 in the NET. They are solidly in the middle of the pack. They batted in the tournament, but losing Watson will be really really tough to overcome.

It’s why relying on so many freshman is a problem. It’s year to year right now.
