  1. The UB Volleyball team has earned an automatic berth into the women's NIVC post-season tournament. In the first round, Buffalo will face South Florida, a Bulls vs Bulls matchup! The first round match is Friday, December 1 at 4 pm, at St. John's University in Queens, NY. When I get the streaming details, I will post them. RPI: Buffalo 95, South Florida 99 Massey Rankings: Buffalo 109, South Florida 119 The other two teams in the regional bracket are St. John's and Howard. If Buffalo faces St. John's in the second round, it would be a re-match of an early season match when Buffalo defeated St. John's 3-1.

  2. No, because the Constitution does not govern Title IX. Title IX is a statutory scheme that covers among other entities educational institutions that receive federal money. If a school gave out NIL money, they would most likely be required to do so with the proportions required by Title IX. A private entity that does not receive federal funding is not subject to Title IX. That means that Dunkin', that is currently running ads with a number of women athletes, can spend in any proportion they want to spend and Title IX would not be an issue.

  3. I see Minnesota and Western Kentucky offers too. Brosmer led the FCS in passing yards at New Hampshire, which plays in the Colonial Athletic Conference. The Georgia native finished his junior season at New Hampshire with 3,449 passing yards and 29 touchdowns and five interceptions while posting a 3.88 GPA studying biomedical science and kinesiology.

  4. There are 150 other FCS school C-USA would look at before Buffalo.

  5. That is because a school cannot seek NIL money. It has to be sought by a private group (collective) and not the school. If the school raises the money it is a NCAA violation. A collective has been set up. https://ubbulls.com/sports/2022/7/26/ub-name-image-likeness-program-built-in-buffalo

  6. Could be a death knell look at where we are now after being ranked.

  7. NIL isn't a major priority from Advancement. I don't think it will be in the future with this President. I suspect it is a big deal for the AD, but sports (regardless of the interest on this board) isn't a big deal at UB. There has been decades and decades of evidence that supports this. If you want to make change, you need to be in a position to influence decision makers. Hopefully there is someone on this board (or reads this board) who will be on the search committee for the next President...and can encourage the committee, etc., as it relates to athletics and its importance. I don't know where the fiscal oversight is for UB and how it is related to the SUNY Board. But if there are decision makers/people with influence there, this is how we can get change made. Same thing with donors and/or members at UB Foundation.

  8. I do expect this to be a one sided affair. I will be looking for those silver linings though. It would be nice to see a game where Adams and Chatman both play well in the same game, they keep turnovers down and they play better on d. It would be an easy game to mail it in, so a test of players / coaches character.

  9. Maybe improve the OL? The focus here is qb, but rb was another disappointment, imo. One common denominator could be the OL…

  10. I don’t see a drastic change. Every year, each team recruits a couple/few new quarterbacks. For the purposes of this topic, I’ll say one of each. Then after the off season workouts, the coaching staff gets to evaluate everyone on the roster, and play the best option. How much I liked the play of one athlete shouldn’t change the plan going forward.

  11. Rana has improved dramatically since her first game against Daemen.Overall good ball handling and also shot selection with hitting some 3’s the last two games which should help in the MAC games. Lopez looks to have improved also the only concern is she plays with too much intensity on defense and gets called for a lot of fouls. Again that can be a concern in the MAC when the overall intensity picks up and the refs call a tighter game. Overall just a pleasant surprise to see how the team has jelled especially with the freshmen like Lewis-Williams and Davis along with our other starters. Watson looks like the real deal with her driving ability and floaters in the lane and also shows that she can hit on three pointers. A nice little stretch of games coming up against some better competition in the NEC and MEAC before MAC play begins. Go Bulls!!!

  12. "NIL" is simply another word for buying players. These guys/gals are simply pros now. The idea of "amateur" is long gone within college athletics. Those with the most $$ will win over time. They'll become the Yankees, dodgers, etc, while we'll not even be the Pirates, but will be closer to the Bisons, sadly. Since there is no salary cap, it's nothing less than a free for all at the schools with the deepest pockets of donors.
