I love the idea of a trophy with UMASS. We're such similar schools and we desparately need something to build student interest and elevate school pride. A rivalry can't hurt and let's face it, despite winning a ton of games in this conference not one MAC school considers us a rival.

Personally, I hope they do make this a new rivalry/trophy game. While we do seem to have natural rivalries with Akron, Kent, and Ohio in basketball, I think it makes sense for multiple reasons to encourage a rivalry with UMass.

Please, let's not re-live that game. We have so many better memories to draw from. Most of this season is done and dusted. The only way is forward. Halcovage isn't going anywhere. We'll see what they can do from here off some late season progress.

Hopefully Coach Lembo can build a bridge to Kahlil, it would certainly be a big help just having him active with the team, regardless of the monetary component. It would be nice if he donated, but that is a personal thing so I am not going to call him out on that. Obviously Maxx currently has a different feeling towards EMU at this point.

Absolutely no disrespect to those guys as they were one of my favorite teams, but Battle/Bortz/Bird/Gilbert had a disappointing senior season by finishing in 7th place in the MAC regular season. After a run in the MAC tourney from the 7th seed, they had the most devastating loss in the Bulls modern era after being up by almost 20 in the first half of the MAC championship game vs Ohio.

When the freshman all are here 3 years from now, I'll change my tune. Based on the past 4-5 years, where practically no one stays more than a year or two beyond their freshman year, I'll remain steadfast in my current thoughts on where we stand. No one forced this staff to not get experienced players, or even an experienced assistant coach. Last year's staff got experienced players along with a raw youngster in Jack. Instead we have what we have now, and that is a completely lost season, combined with a now last place status in the MAC, which is something that won't be seen as a positive on the recruiting trail.
