  1. Segu cut his hair today. It was getting kinda long. He could have said it wasn’t getting in his way.
  2. It’s possible, although unlikely, that the Big 3 could return next year. And that’s not including BB, who might qualify as a player/coach - if the NCAA adjusts to the dynamics of DI collegiate basketball in an inclusionary fashion. The sky is the limit.
  3. If UB wants to make their bench not only look better, but actually more imposing, it should bench Segu and start Brewton. It would definitely add to the mystique as a “Team that can dig itself out of a hole”.
  4. Check out Teamrankings.com FWIW, it ranks UB 97th after their win yesterday. It also claims UB has a 22% chance of winning it all in Cleveland.
  5. Do you suppose Whitesell puts Brewton in to keep the Bulls from getting too full of themselves?
  6. Nice answer to the Broncos’ run. Time to bring in Brewton.
  7. Kent has 38 points from its bench with 3 minutes left.
  8. Kent 45 Ohio 15 at the half. Kent has defeated Toledo twice, and Buffalo has defeated Kent. Anything is possible.
  9. One thing I noticed yesterday (aside from everything positive for UB) was when Mballa attempted to bring the ball upcourt after a defensive rebound. He tried to dribble behind his back, and was called for a double dribble. The TV announcers alluded to the fact that in their day, anyone, other than a guard would have immediately been pulled from the game. Mballa wasn’t. Later in the first half Williams had a reach-in foul called. It was his second foul, and there was about a minute remaining in the first half. Whitesell pulled him, but Williams was apparently whining about it. I didn’t like how that looked.
  10. One thing we can agree on. The woman singing “America the Beautiful” weighs less than 100 pounds. Oh now we’ve got a real heavyweight singing the National Anthem…she must go 115. I’m not going to let it stop me: I will gain 5 pounds no matter who wins.
  11. I hope the Bulls finish the season playing their best, and it would be great to win it all in Cleveland. However, I don’t feel that Buffalo has any edge in talent over some of the top teams, and have grown to believe there are at least 2 better head coaches from that top tier: Groce, and Boals…not necessarily in that order. With respect to raw talent: Segu is fun to watch, has a lot of tools offensively, and is clutch but his size handicaps him defensively. Mballa clearly has regressed this season. Williams is the only Bull who belongs on the all MAC first team. Jack and Skogman have shown flashes of brilliance, and will have to bring their A game down the stretch, for the Bulls to have any chance at dancing. The bench, as someone already wrote, will have to contribute minutes especially in Cleveland, but I don’t expect much in the way of scoring or clutch play.
  12. What worries me most is if FLJ bolts, home game attendance will plummet.
  13. Yesterday was great. One concern: Mballa picked up 3 fouls in 22 minutes against a poor team.
  14. Kenpom has the MAC ranked 20th right behind the MAAC at 19th.
  15. I just checked attendance per ESPN for all home games at Alumni Arena for the 2018-2019 season. For some reason, I couldn’t get the attendance for the Central Michigan or the Akron games. Here is what I found. ESPN lists Alumni Arena’s capacity at 6783. Kenpom lists it at 6100, as does UB. Therefore, there were at least 5 SRO games during the 2018-2019 season. Let’s say that there were seven SRO games. That means that 50% of the home games were SRO when the team was a top 25 ranked team. Congratulations.
  16. There were very few SRO games at Alumni Arena even in the 2018-2019 season.
  17. I know it’s ridiculous, but if I had anything to do with it, I would yank Mballa’s scholarship. Scholarship…absurd basterdization.
  18. I don’t buy the trope that UB has the best athletes. Whitesell, clearly should not have been hired, but the UB athletes are in no way top shelf.
  19. The Canisius game broke UB’s spirit.
  20. Just to make it more clear: The UB band is great! They aren’t the problem. The PA and the DJ are at fault. Both are gross!
  21. FWIW: My wife and I had great season tix for 10 years. Went to almost every game. Then COVID hit…we are in our early 70s. We did not renew our season tickets, but not because of the play - and not because of Covid, or fear of slipping on ice while walking from the car to Alumni Arena. The reason we didn’t renew was because of the inane artificial noise during play stoppages. It’s obnoxious, relentless, and loud. It’s so loud that it was we couldn’t hear each other talk - unless the game was in progress. Think about that. It’s not just UB…I get it. I won’t even go to a Bisons game for the same reason. I’d rather bring a lawn chair to a local diamond to watch a ballgame. The marketers are driving people like us away.
  22. Well, the Bulls hung in there, but I think we can all agree that for all their supposed athleticism they are not only a poor dunking team…they are a poor shooting team… and they are a mediocre to poor team.
