  1. To put some perspective into these rankings. #2 North Carolina (above schools like Berkeley, UCLA). #16 Binghamton above #17 Minnesota, #19 Ohio State, #22 Pitt. #76 is AAU member University of Arizona. #83 SUNY New Paltz is two spots below #81 University of Nebraska. #122 University of Cincinnati is two spots above #124 SUNY Oneonta. Kent State University is not considered a "lower echelon" school.
  2. Hopeful thinking here. Spring game is on a Friday again I believe. Do the celebration before the game like last year and have it be the public's first chance to interact with the new coach(es).
  3. I've said this probably a million times before, the quality of apparel at UB is maybe a step above literal dog shit, but not much more. $10 tee shirts are great, but they fit like garbage. There's not much between that and $45 dry fit shirts. The basketball jerseys are decent quality, but I wish we had them in white (or better, blue). The fan football jerseys are garbage, possibly worse than the DHGate Khalil Mack jerseys with the HUGE New York logo on it. The blue collar shirts were nice but we're done with that I suppose. I think everything that's on the online store is garbage screen printed/embroidered UB logo on generic branded apparel. I still wear some of the free giveaway shirts from when I was a student because a few of them were printed on Gildan shirts (I'm sure whoever screwed up and splurged on these premium shirts was quickly terminated). Beating a dead horse again, I'm likely going to the WVU spring game and their annual gear sale this year. In the past authentic football jerseys were sold for around $80, ~$20 more than a UB jersey. Maybe I can find a #50 WVU jersey from where Graves posterized Konate. Those are $20.
  4. That was supposed to be Felisha Legette Jack (though admittedly much younger). Failed at a big job, now close to family, winning games, a year away from the all time wins record....and she’s gone.
  5. I have a FLJ shirt from her first year here, some pink UB apparel, a sweet 16 banner, a Victor E Bull bobblehead...
  6. I know MAC football is bad but come on.... I think that Caputo would be a great hire.
  7. Has an AD ever done this at UB? I'd rather they look for the next guy rather than get roasted by the media.
  8. It’s terrible for football too
  9. You don’t get to bang your hot new side chick while waiting for your girlfriend to say “yes” (and you shouldn’t have a side chick). Terribly managed, not on our side, and we haven’t even heard Alnutt’s side. Next Bull In.
  10. In Storrs for the first game we had about as many fans as Rutgers did.
  11. Once I heard the "I can recruit" quote from him I started getting turned off to him getting the job. You can be given a group of extremely talented players and lose a ton of games (see Tyrone Willingham). If you can't coach it doesn't matter how you can recruit.
  12. 1. Yes, have you been to a UB game at Canisius or Niagara? This year Syracuse sounded like a home game. 2. Yes, they do currently. Though it will obviously be more expensive to fly more teams out to farther locations.
  13. GPA and APR are very different.
  14. It's different when your brother is lighting up Twitter and the school has millions of reasons to make him happy. It's also different to waste a scholarship when you have 84 other scholarships to give.
  15. Leipold got leaked because he has a family member that posted about it on Twitter. Oats there was no reason to leak because he was already the interim coach. There's unfortunately little coverage on WBB, which is why there was no leak about FLJ. White to UCF was leaked.
  16. He was there for a year. http://www.ubbulls.com/sports/mbkb/2018-19/bios/williams_jeenathan_cwme "chose UB because of its proximity to home"
  17. I initially was concerned about the Siena job too, but he got that job 18 years ago. At the age of 32. I think he's deserving of another shot. Kinda neutral on him at the moment.
  18. Perk stayed (partially due to Oats but whatever) and he's a top scorer in UB history. I'd argue he probably would be the top scorer if there wasn't this "Christian Jalon" guy with one D1 offer who decided to join the team. (Side note wow Nick's recruiting profile pic on 247!) Maybe we'll hit it big again.
  19. I think there's a few different types of non-traditional players (ie talent, offers, and outcome all live up to normal expectations without character issues). Forgive me for using football players as examples The Randy Mosses - Player has a ton of talent but screwed up in high school so goes somewhere lower and the coach has to make sure they don't screw up again. Lamonte Bearden at a higher talent level The Ed Olivers - Local kid wants to ball at home and turns down some HUGE offers. Lives up to the hype The Khalil Macks - See Ja above The Anthony Alfords - High rated player who goes to a lower school because he might actually suck. Ends up sucking. (Randy Moss bonus points because he got into a fight, but let's exclude that for this purpose) Right now I'd put Jeenathan at 70% Ed Oliver and 30% Anthony Alford. Time will tell.
  20. He was composite 4* by 24/7. We got a 4* player but he hasn't been a game changer yet. Maybe on a young team he could be? We don't know.
  21. Well we got one. Who knows where he goes now.
  22. The book Freakonomics gets into this in a non-sports aspect. Real estate agents typically leave their houses on the market longer than their clients, to get a better offer. The agent is getting a small cut of the check in the end, what’s the difference between $2.4 at Bama and whatever more Virginia Tech will offer? For the agent maybe a few thousand more dollars, when there’s a good chance that if Oats balks Bama will hire the next guy and the agent gets nothing.
