  1. well, maybe Illinois sees this UB defense and says no thanks LL. we’ll keep browsing for candidates. sheesh, what an awful half
  2. DB’s, DB’s, ugh. just not playing well tonight. shoulda been off the field then an interference
  3. Haven’t been overly impressed with the DB’s this year. Miami should have had a couple long TDs and dropped em. Kent state had no troubles throwing
  4. Seems like P5 programs are often looking for the hot young coordinators who have recruiting gems on their resume....and who can also be the face of the program and energize it. Then of course, you get guys like Lovie Smith hired as well. I'm not sure where Leipold fits in to the mix but I sure hope he likes UB and WNY enough to stay and maybe be the "Ohio State" of the MAC for a few more years. I don't think his program would ascend to that at Illinois or many other schools. But hey, if he's into the money it won't be a competition.
  5. Lance was on the Jim Rome show (yes he still has an actual radio show). He was asked if he would pick up the phone if a P5 job comes calling? Lance didn't say NO. But he didn't say yes either. He went on to say something about only being concerned about where we are at right now, and the big game ahead. So there ya go. He's not a secret, and I'm sure LL will get a big offer or two.
  6. Feels like the media always looks at every G5 coach who is doing well and slots them in for "the next coach of xxxxx". Leipold built this program back up and he's clearly comfortable here. Now they have the Field house and nice facilities. Maybe he and his family loves WNY and what this program has become and doesn't want to leave for the unknown. Maybe at 56, he doesn't want the pressure of a rebuild job at a Big 10 program and being a fund raiser and all the other pressures that come with a P5 job. Maybe he and Alnutt have discussed the next chapter of UB Athletics and a possible conference move in the next few years and Leipold would be the guy to lead us? Ya just never know. I haven't heard any real talk of Lance having big aspirations of coaching in the Big 10 and moving on. He seems like a very loyal guy and clearly not a job hopper. But then again, all things eventually come to an end. and if/when he does leave this will be an attractive job for someone.
  7. No matter what happens in the MAC Championship game, the Bulls are an attractive team because of Patterson. He's received a lot of nation pub and can be the focal point of hyping up a non-descript and no fans in attendance Bowl game. Since we didn't get to play any non-conference Power 5 teams on the schedule, I'd just like to see a match up with the best opponent possible.
  8. The Championship game is on Dec. 18th. Interesting Scenario for UB this weekend. Do they play all the starters against Akron? for how long? It's kind of an exhibition game for the Bulls and a showcase for the seniors last home game. They want to be at full strength for the MAC Championship and a potential Bowl game. On the flip side they can't LOSE to Akron by emptying the bench. I'm sure the Zips will by pumped up to hang with a Top 25 team. Jaret Patterson- do you allow him to go for personal accolades and awards by racking up huge numbers...or let him rest another week and not get dinged up? hmmm, It's tough because what if COVID continues it's rampage on college football and derails the MAC Championship game and any Bowl game. Then Akron would be the final game of the season and the program would regret not allowing Patterson to showcase himself and the University one more time. Some stuff to think about...
  9. Ohio pretty much had their season wiped out. Makes me nervous that our game could be canceled. But since UB was clean for last week's game, and Akron obviously played, that's a good sign that both teams *should* be OK for this weekend.
  10. I got home and was only able to tune in for last 3 mins or so. How depressing.
  11. Yep, clearly that was the right move. The conferences that decided to wait until the 2nd wave was in full swing lost out big time. Feel fortunate that UB even got four games in. Hoping everyone on both clubs can stay healthy so the MACCG in Detroit can be played.
  12. It's a crappy way to win the East but, hey, we'll take it. It has to be disappointing for the players and coaches to be on a bus to the game and have this happen.
  13. It's been clarified in today's Buffalo News. The MAC conference puts head to head results over winning percentage. So if UB loses to Ohio and they both end the season with 1 loss, Ohio wins the East (even though they didn't play Miami). If UB loses, they could also win the East by beating Akron and having Ohio lose at Kent State in their finale. Let's just beat Ohio and call it a day..
  14. A similar article with some quotes was in the Baltimore Sun this week. I live down in Maryland so it's cool to see all the local pub he's gotten here this week (local television coverage too). https://www.baltimoresun.com/maryland/laurel/cng-ll-patterson-pallotti-records-1201-20201201-vxolckqcprepzpbvahnc7ruxui-story.html
  15. He's received a tremendous amount of National publicity this week. So cool. They interviewed him live last night on CBS Sports Network on their Inside College Football show. He did a great job.
  16. The Kent State vs Miami game this weekend has been cancelled due to Covid issues with the Kent State program. This is the second time a Miami game has been cancelled.
  17. I also think the team and Whitesell should get the benefit of the doubt. There's nothing normal going on in the world and in sports. It's early and hopefully there's improvement and more solid recruits in the pipeline. Specifically in college hoops there's all kinds of wacky non-conference results. Just yesterday George Washington lost at home to Hampton. Georgetown lost at home to Navy (who hadn't beaten a Big East team in 35 years). Kentucky lost to Richmond.. I'm sure UB losing to Army without one of our best players is not the biggest upset out there.
  18. Yeah- after reading quotes from LL after the game and some other media calls, he clearly did not know how close JP was to busting those amazing records. He said he wished he would have known (which leads us to believe he would've let Patterson finish off that last TD drive). Which begs the question, doesn't the UB SID or some other coaches in the booth know what's going on? I think it woulda' been ok if someone tried hard to get a message to Lance. Buy hey, anyone who watches and cares about UB football knows how great of a coach LL is and the quality program he runs. We're lucky to have him here!
  19. Yeah unreal day. Just phenomenal I love Lance but kinda mad at him at the end. When UB hit the red zone, was hoping they’d keep JP in there. It was a lock they would bulldoze it in. (as Marks did on the very next play). He should have the single game NCAA record for rushing yards and TDs. That would’ve stood for a while and be really cool for the program and even recruits to see. But tied for first in TDs and #2 yards ain’t a bad day! So fun to watch.
  20. Don’t we still have a game at Ohio? that’s always a house of horrors. and they had a tough game cancelled so that would be for the division i guess. A win there and i can have a Top 25 discussion
  21. Ok that ending sucked. my day is ruined <not>
  22. The UB secondary looks kinda lost. no one is turning around to look for the ball.
