One thing the NCAA is considering that I hope they adopt soon is that anyone entering the transfer portal has to do so by X date or they are forced to sit out a year. Of course you want what’s best for the kids but FB transferring right now (as in time of year) is ridiculous.

What does an assistant who has never had to grind or know the difficulties of MAC WBB offer that is better than someone who has proven they could do it with no resources?

Just bc we knew it was a strong possibility doesn’t mean you could do much about it. UB offered Jack a significant raise to stay. Imagine her reaction if she found out UB was negotiating behind her back bc we thought she *MAY* leave? The best the admin could do was get a list together. And where we are in the off-season I’m sure many of those on the UB list are also exploring all the other jobs open too. And obviously we don’t get first pick. That said I’d expect something to shake out pretty soon.

When a player enters the portal they technically forfeit their scholarship. There’s no guarantee it’s still there if they want back but obv coaches are careful of the optics of it.

Nope. I think Skogman, like many of the 1,040+ players in the portal, thinks he’s above us and the grass is greener elsewhere. Players love the recruitment process when everyone is telling you you’re pretty. Some need it more than others. For all his faults, Whitesell has the respect of the locker room.

All respect to Sharkey, but she hasn’t been a head coach nor has she been anywhere else. She hasn’t shown she can do anything other than be an alum. I’d think we can attract a more qualified candidate.

Jack has had a sitting offer from UB for quite some time I heard was “substantial”. Likely weighing her options as she has done most years. She’s earned it either way.

She has a standing offer from UB that is “significant”. Not sure what that means, but the AD is trying.

Quick note - Rhode Island just gave Archie Miller a 5 year $8.5 million deal. Just for comparison sake. Annual salary ranges from $1.4-1.9 million throughout the deal.

Looking across the country, our Women’s team is very successful attendance-wise vs most. Especially since many skew their attendance numbers based on tickets out/Men’s tickets/etc.
