  1. Cortland win 38-37 when North Central fails on 2 pt try. Zac Boyes being from Ken West will get a bit of local fanfare. Grats to them, and I would have figured Brockport would have been the D3 SUNY to win first since they have won a few tourny games in recent years. The Scoobies though...🤣
  2. DE transfer from Iowa State incoming to UB per 247 and his X account. https://www.espn.com/college-football/player/bio/_/id/5150698/jefferson-adam https://cyclonefanatic.com/2023/01/recruiting-iowa-state-lands-juco-edge-jefferson-adam/
  3. I noted Fugerson, as he is in the UB directory. Likely working on the academic side. I always cheered for Johnson to have his shot, but he took a while to become a starter, and last year he had no TD's in the last 2/3 of the season. Not an ALL-MAC caliber WR. Harding and Curry were underwhelming too. Staff have to do better with some real WR speed from the portal to complement McMillian and Morrow.
  4. Great points on the lopsided defense. We have to rebuild the line and find SOME kind of pass rushers. But all-MAC talent behind them with LB's, Grant, add McCartherens too. Running game was merely ok so hopefully Sperling becomes the guy to replace Cook. A healthy McMillan is key, and Morrow should fit into Marlyn Johnson's spot and hopefully show why he had so many P5 offers. Jevell Fugerson has the talent profile, but has to grown and earn a spot.
  5. Loading up on B1G Wondering when we get our chance at USC in the 2030's? 😆 Also add CCSU for our 2027 FCS tilt.
  6. Starters: Chatman, Williamson, Sabol, Bondin Jr, Fulcher. Players in the doghouse and only 1 in Chatman I expected as a quality starter. 2 rising freshmen and 2 who should have been reserves this year.

  8. https://ubbulls.com/news/2023/5/31/several-kick-times-and-television-assignments-for-upcoming-football-season-announced.aspx Badgers: 3:30 EST on FS1 (Kind of surprised.... I expected another BIG10 Network game) Liberty: Noon on CBS Sports Network
  9. BN story on the process "The key points: The initial list of 25-30 candidates, which included Halcovage, was reduced to 15-20. … Hodgson, an assistant at Alabama, was not interviewed. … Alnutt made one trip out of town to meet with a candidate at an NCAA tournament site. … Following a series of Zoom interviews, six candidates were brought to Buffalo for visits. … Alnutt said one person turned down the job before Halcovage was hired." He heard us, at least: Alnutt told me. “I love the passion of our fans. There is no apathy when it comes to men’s basketball, which is phenomenal. Your fans are seeing or hearing and wondering, ‘What the heck is going on?’ ” On Hodgson: “He was on our radar, but didn’t get to the point he was one of those six (who visited campus),” Alnutt said. “He had his opportunity at Arkansas State, and we had a great conversation the day he got the job. I’m a Bryan Hodgson fan, and I look forward to seeing what he does at Arkansas State.”
  10. Mostly a DOBO experince, definately young and would want it in his hometown. Yet, hmm, Boeheim was around this guy's age when he became head coach. Maybe we can dream he'd be UB's Boeheim.
  11. Curry Hicks Sage, SearchSZN spaces. Very NE focused but will get tips on other job openings.
  12. One tidbit from a Twiiter spaces broadcast last night, an insider said McCollum was flattered by UB's interview and interest, but it may not be the right fit for him. The tone was not positive, now have to see if UB steps up if he has ?'s on money/league/recruting to WNY.
  13. https://bearcatsports.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/coaches/ben-mccollum/1763 Visting today as well. The Leipold of D2 mens basketball.

  15. Have to think Desmond Oliver and Jim Christian may have interest. Christian is working in the Kent St athletic dept but who knows if he wants back in the MAC. Or if ADMA even wants a sharp, first time young coach vs a proven vet/retread.
  16. New QB depth transfer from ADMA's former school. Great JUCO championship QB, played a lot at SEMO in 2021 but more siutational in 2022. https://semoredhawks.com/sports/football/roster/cj-ogbonna/10294
  17. The 2-deep is...well making the best of it. Offense basically the same except Nick Hartnett starting at Center. Cook still out, Snyder's game with only DePillo behind him. DL no issues except no Kante at DE, McNair starting for Cobb at Nickle. DB's no depth with future potential playmakers Cuffey and Devin Grant with their first starts. So they have to become current playmakers.
  18. Division 1 Conference Championship winning teams 1991-2003 [Bill Greiner]- 10 (All ECC and Mid-Con titles, none MAC) 2003-2010 [Simpson] - 2 MAC 2011-Present [Tripathi] - 17 MAC (and 1 Individual NCAA T&F champion)
  19. Best local tv ratings in the MAC, no P5 that owns WNY, and the largest MAC fanbase based on many studies. At one time, nobody could have imagined Rutgers to the Big10 or Cincy to the Big 12.
  20. CUSA is not going to be something special next season when they lose their best teams/markets. No MAC team was going to accept joining that dumpster fire Judy has brought into existence. Liberty was not wanted by any other league. They can pay a coach $4mm due to their online diploma-mill budget, and wanting to be the Evangelical version of ND/BYU/Baylor. They will own the depleted CUSA, with some resistance from La Tech and WKU. SBC did very well with who they brought in, dumping Little Rock/TX-Arlington, and it was humble pie for Southern Miss. fans who thought for the past decade they were bound for the AAC. MAC is steady as they only want WKU and MTSU. JMU and ODU were going with Marshall, and no way MAC/Herd #3. If MTSU was not gun-shy about losing out on all that yummy exit fee revenue they would have jumped to the MAC with WKU. And, in time, they still might. The MAC wont expand just to expand, or else a blunder like adding EKU or YSU would occur. Delaware has brought up FBS again but would be an outlier. Stony Brook has budget tightening and seems destined to just settle in a CAA mid-regional core with Delaware, Hofstra, Drexel and Towson. Even if the MAC takes on 2 more the big MAC issue is, only UB is increasing its enrollment/budget/endowment. Best case for us is 1) Big10 takes no other PAC12 schools 2) The ACC GOR opens up early legally or waiting it out 3) Big10 and SEC want to go MEGA and take the best properties from the ACC (Clemson, FSU, UVA, UNC, Miami, ND, NCST, GT) and 4) WVU, Cincy, UCF are just happy in the Big12, which has a nice media deal even with losing TX and OK. Then we have a shot at the ACC academic snobbish leftovers really needing 6-10 football schools. AAC just wants to be another southern-markets G5 league above the other 2, to the chagrin of Temple and Navy.
